Ivan welcomed my mother and us with open arms, showing flexibility and compassion with visiting hours that were unmatched in any other establishment. The environment was so warm and welcoming and homey. In her condition my mother wasn't able to take advantage of all of the family style meals and entertainment the other residents shared, but the caring, compassionate, highly skilled staff made her as comfortable as possible, she ate better than she had in weeks, and she was at peace. While they may think it is okay to interfere in peoples lives, I do not take kindly to defamation and character assassination from people whom I have never laid eyes on. I have had to retain legal counsel in order to correct their misinformation and interference in my life and my family's life. Absolutely unacceptable. Take heed and stay the heck away! This place is overpriced and sticks their noses where it does not belong.

I was concerned that Laura Cirves had violated my mother's rights. It appears that a similar situation occurred with another resident of For Senior's Sake. I would encourage that person to call and register a complaint at 1-800-562-6078. This is the only way to call a halt to Laura's bullying tactics with her clients and the families of clients. After an investigation by the Aging and Disability Services, Laura was issued 4 citations. 1. Failed practice in the area of care planning. 2. Failure to provide proper notification of changes to services. 3. Failure to provide proper notification to change in fees. 4. Discharging a client without proper cause. Laura was also required to refund a larger amount than she had initially sent to us from the month's rent that we had paid in advance. Unless people follow through in reporting issues like this one with For Senior's Sake, our seniors will continue to get taken advantage of like Laura Cirves tried to do with our mother.

During my father's time at For Seniors' Sake before his passing, he was surrounded by loving care, smiles, infinite patience, and kindness. Our family dropped in frequently, and we always happened upon a conscientious, caring, and committed staff. Laura sets a cheerful tone for her house, with superbly clean, pleasant surroundings (fresh flowers, home-y decorations, etc.) . She even makes the meals herself, none of that industrial food. She's extremely conscientious about the complex state regulations, and keeps patient logs that we could track online. Laura patiently spoke with us at all hours in a compassionate, respectful manner--it felt as if we were collaborators in providing dad with the best care possible. In his final days, only Laura could bring a smile to his face, and that says everything. On a practical note, Laura was prompt and responsive when issuing a substantial refund check. The care dad received at For Seniors' Sake brought comfort to our family, knowing he was in such good hands. We feel fortunate to have had such a good experience during such a difficult time.

Excellent Retirement Apartment Facilities for my Family Members…read more SITREP Both my mother and my uncle John have spent time in these facilities. Mom is still here and I come visit her. My uncle John has since moved on to a nursing home, but when he was more independent-living and ambulatory, these facilities made a great home for him. THE SETUP They are Studio-apartments for single individuals or couples. They have an excellent physical plan that includes many living rooms and multi-purpose rooms for the residents. I am very impressed with the computer room with it's four (4) whirring PCs! In a facility with more than a couple of hundred individuals that doesn't sound like a lot of computers, but this generation I have found isn't naturally intuitive to this technology. However, I have dragged my mom into the 21st Century world of computers and smartphones, and in the end she really has appreciated it. So she is usually one of just a few people that use the computers at any given time. GUEST ROOMS But beyond being residential facilities, they also have guest rooms that I have taken advantage of because they are integrated into this facility campus. The guest room I stay in is extremely inexpensive, and on the same compound as mom's. At a mere $35 a night - you can't beat that in any hotel for what amounts to a really nice studio apartment. I sometimes may begin and end a trip using my Hilton Honors Points at a Homewood Suite, but it's nice to know that for the buck of my stay in Seattle, I can stay at my mom's facility for my home base as I work and visit friends. HOLIDAY DINNERS I love the holidays at Northaven because of the festive celebrations they have around Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas (usually the times I stay in mom's local digs). She likes to show me off to her co-residents as I come visit and hang with her posse. They are a bunch of fun older ladies - and one extremely funny Pakistani gentleman (a former diplomat now living in this country), and we make the most of some of the holiday events. The facility really goes all out on preparing special dinners and they are really quite delicious with all the trimmings. But I have to note that even the normal average dinners are quite elegant and enjoyable here. GARDENS There are some beautiful rose gardens on the grounds that the residents get to enjoy. All the gardening and trimming is quite exceptional and the ground are kept beautiful all year round.. THE LOWDOWN A very sweet and quaint facility to make home in one's sunset years.

She paints with my mom, buys connect-the-dot activity books for my dad. Yes, we love this place so much, I moved my dad in too! The home is extremely clean and inviting. Each of my parent's rooms have french doors out to the beautiful backyard. The grounds are impeccable. They've created a park-like environment with walking paths, a fountain and a beautiful covered/heated gazebo for residents and their families. To me, this is above and beyond what most other facilities would provide. They are constantly making improvements to the property, inside and out. I highly recommend this home. They give your family member a soft place to land when they need it most.

I am unable to address the costs with any accuracy so I will say I only understand that fees are 'hefty'. But that includes all expenses. The family members support each them with frequent visits and supplement anything they need. At times, the staff is not 100% on the ball and require that we keep check on doctor's orders. It is important to do this since health issues are involved.  There are a variety of activities offered and many residents take advantage of the offerings and state that the choices are outstanding. These activities offer so much, friendships, socialization, enjoyment and much more. The programs are high quality and open to all. So far, the individual apartments are pretty basic. The windows are large and open onto lovely landscaping. Moving in required that each family member had to leave much behind and only bring in a few treasured items to fit into the small apartments. For our family members it is important that we 'supplement' their lives with our support. We do so with love and affection.
