I had a very good experience and outcome with Dr. Abdullah. He was able to correctly diagnose the problem and suggest the proper surgery. My tooth was causing enough pain to make pulling the tooth seem like the best option, but Dr. Abdullah was confident that an alternative procedure could save my tooth, correct the problem, and allow my mouth/gums/bone heal naturally. The difference in the x-rays before and after was dramatic in the visible recovery, which matched his description of the process which he gave before I decided to proceed. Dental surgery is never an enjoyable experience, but the experience of Dr. Abdullah led him to make the correct diagnosis and treatment recommendation, and a good execution of the actual surgery. Sometimes, even if done correctly, these surgeries might not be successful, but the skill and knowledge of Dr. Abdullah increases the probability of success. I was referred here when I experienced tenderness during drilling and my dentist told me I needed a root canal. I didn't realize at the time that this was an incredibly aggressive diagnosis: He didn't take the time to find out whether I had the actual symptoms associated with an infected tooth. Regardless, I went to this practice. When I mentioned to Dr. Majlessi what the dentist had written on the referral--that he couldn't get me numb--she said, "Oh, we don't need to do any tests. You definitely need a root canal." Like an idiot, I trusted her. Now that I've had this procedure, I truly understand what a devastating, last-ditch option it is (I've been told off-handedly by a few dentists that I could, whoops, lose my tooth and need an implant quite easily). I'm horrified that a trained professional would waive the testing required to know if an invasive, expensive, and potentially destructive surgery is necessary. I've suffered pain and discomfort in the years following and expect that I'll suffer more and be tens of thousands of dollars poorer down the road because of something I very well may not have needed. The kicker was when I got a bill for $150 more than a year later from a procedure they implied my insurance would cover. This practice has a sign in their office saying that they were rated highly by the community in the 1990s. They might want to think about how that looks more than 30 years later. read more

dentist is ok but the girls at the front desk are terrible at their job. called the wrong phone number to confirm my appointment and lost my spot so I get there to wait two hours to be seen. that was my second appointment there. for my first appointment there I had to wait a hour and 30 minutes to be seen because the front desk made my appointment with me over the phone and forgot to put it in the system on the schedule. no apologies for my wasted time due to their mistakes and lack of skill and professionalism. this would be a better place if an actual skilled adult ran the front desk instead of these high school girls working the front desk who have no knowledge respect or skill to be doing this job in the first place. read more

My experience with Dr. Abdullah was not a good one. I was referred to him (an endodontist) because my dentist thought I may need a root canal. I ended up not having one but it was very possible at one point. Dr. Abdullah treated me with respect, but his poor assistants. I have never witnessed someone be such an a-hole to their assistants for no reason. Like, his assistant gave him the wrong cotton ball and he basically called her an idiot. That is not a good way to make your patients feel comfortable. I seriously felt like telling him to calm down. With the potential root canal, I was having severe tooth pain throughout the left side of my mouth... actually, more like face. I was fairly sure for a while that I would need a root canal since the pain was excruciating and ongoing for over a month and my dentist suspected the same. I was taking advil around the clock, setting my alarm so I could take the next dose every 6 hours before the previous dose wore off and I was in such pain that I couldn't open my eyes. I told this to Dr. Abdullah and made sure to take advil before my appointment so that he could work in my mouth without me crying tears of pain. BIG MISTAKE. Dr. Abdullah basically said "Well, you don't look like you're in much pain. I don't think you need a root canal... BUT you have an extra tooth showing in your x-ray so I'm going to refer you to an oral surgeon downstairs." I could not believe what I heard. I told him the reason I wasn't dying was because I took Advil before and he didn't seem to care. Not only did he dismiss my concerns, he was going to send me to an oral surgeon for something that was a unimportant given the painful situation I was in. He also would not give me anything for the pain, even after explaining to him how harsh the Advil was getting on my stomach. He said to try Tylenol... as if I hadn't tried that already! Dr. Abdullah made me feel like a drug-seeking hypochondriac. I would not recommend Dr. Abdullah. I think most people look for a doctor who will listen to them and be at least a tad empathetic. You won't get either. For all I know, this guy is the Picasso of root canals. But it's irrelevant when you do not listen to your patients. read more

I was told that I needed a root canal and it would cost about $3k, do to some bridge work that would be affected. I went to get a second opinion and was told that the root canal was questionable and was sent to Laurel Endodontics, who took me right away. After completing the usual paperwork the took new xrays and did some other test to check sensitivity. They concluded that I did not need a root canal and just needed a cleaning to remove the irritants causing discomfort. That was a month ago and I am now find and $3k richer!. When I do indeed need a root canal I know where I am going. I have also left the dentist that said I needed one to begin with. read more

I had pain in my molar and went to my dentist. He took x-rays of my tooth and assessed that there's no infection. He didn't believe in aggressive treatment so he thought time would do the trick in alleviating the pain. It didn't and I was referred to Laurel Endodontics. I regret it to this day of getting any treatment there. I should've walked away when Shahryar Khaliq assessed my teeth. His assessment was less thorough than my own dentist. Neither he nor Aslim Abdullah was convincing that I needed a root canal. I trusted them for their expertise, but that was my mistake. They only want to perform the root canal because I was referred to get business, not truly taking the time to assess the need for it. My pain didn't go away even after the root canal, which leads me to believe my dentist was correct that there was no infection and root canal was not the answer. It went away after a simple Listerine mouth wash!!! KHALIQ PERFORMED ROOT CANAL NEEDLESSLY. THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT THEY'RE DOING!! ONLY IN IT FOR THE MONEY. read more

I had a root canal retreatment about a year ago. A month later I moved out of state and saw a dentist about the ongoing pain I was experiencing post retreatment. On the xray she said that the retreatment was completely botched and that the likelihood of the retreatment being a long term fix was a slim chance. My dentist suggesting pulling the tooth which I did. I had the retreated root canal for 2 months. I understand that retreatments of a root canal don't always work but was does irritate me is that with my followup appointment with Dr. Abdullah he did not mention his error. I remember looking at the xray seeing a thread going beyond the root and thinking that doesn't look right but I am not the professional. If he had been honest about the error and had told me that we would refund me a portion of the $1500 due to his error, then I would be fine but he did not. I feel that he was completely dishonest in reading the xray with me. I personally would look for another endodontist. I don't trust the honesty of this provider. read more

My experience is completely opposite of that of Jen F.'s. I've had the privilege of being treated by Dr. Abdullah several times over the last 20+ years. I've found him to be extremely skilled and knowledgeable, professional, and very empathetic. He thoroughly explained what was needed every step of the process, while taking great care to ensure my physical and emotional comfort. The quality of his work is impeccable, unlike an experience I had in the early 70's with a different endodontist. I went to Dr abdullah office yesterday for a root canal. I was referred to him by my doctor. My appointment was at 830 am. I was not called into the back until 915. The front office staff couldn't find my chart Might I add, I was there a few weeks prior for a consultation so I filled out paperwork then. They had me fill out another set of paperwork which I should have done when I got there.When I finally got in the chair, Dr abdullah was very apologetic about his staff losing my chart. Dr abdullah was nice but firm which I don't mind. His assistant was nice as well. I did noticed dr abdullah was short with her a couple times while the procedure was going on. I believe it was not to be mean but he just want to make sure things are done correctly. After all, this is my mouth you're talking about. All in all the experience was not all bad but I hope never to go there again for obvious reasons lol read more

Dr. Abdullah is phenomenal. Went to see him today for a root canal and did not feel a thing. He was pleasant, professional, thorough and at times very humorous.
