I went in to have a wisdom tooth extracted. They gave me an 8:30 appointment, when I arrived I'm told I'm early. I asked well why am I early, I'm told they changed my appointment to 10.00; however I was not informed. I'm told they will get with me soon in the mean time X-rays are taken and payment is requested while I have to wait. I'm called about 11:00. Then I'm called in for the extraction. Dr. Scott Kim comes in numbs my mouth and begans procedure. He pulling and tugging, I understand that this is a deep rooted tooth and that he has to watch not to damage the nerve. I can feel every tug, so he numbs me again. Leaves out and return. Starts procedure again pulling and tugging, his instrument slips, hits me on my front teeth, I yell out. He says it a little difficult I'm going to have to break it into two piece. He gets it out, my face swollen and I'm just glad it's over. I was in pain by the time I got home so I just took my medication and went to sleep. When I awoke I went to look at my teeth because that instrument hit kinda hard. Why my front tooth cracked. The next day when they called to check on me I told them that when I was hit with the instrument my tooth was cracked. They brought me in the next day took xray again. Dr. Kim comes in never shows me the xray, but takes pics of my tooth with his cell phone. Then tells me it was probably already cracked. It's a noticeable crack I look in my mouth everyday it was not cracked. Did not offer a solution. This man tells me not to worry about that tooth, keep watch on the tooth that was pull and if there is a problem give them a call. Just the fact you did not compare the two X-rays is telling. Don't go here he does not take accountability and almost pull my jaw off; that's how any why the instrument slipped. No bedside manners, showed no compassion. He says that he doesn't believe he was responsible because he did not work in the front of my mouth but you hit me with that instrument when it slipped. Warning find another oral surgen. I was referred to Maryland Oral Surgery for the first time in 2009 by my primary dentist to have a tooth extracted. I went over they gave me a quote and scheduled my appoint the same week. When I arrived for my appointment I filled out the new patient paperwork and was taken to the back to begin the procedure. My oral surgeon that time was Dr. Frey. He is absolutely the best. He explained everything and the tooth extraction didn't hurt at all. It took him maybe 10 mins to remove the tooth. He had excellent bedside manner. Now it's 2017 and I had to have my wisdom teeth extracted. I didn't think twice about having it done at MOS. I called my primary and got a referral. Called the office on a Monday morning and got an appointment for that Thursday. Crystal, the receptionist I spoke with was very professional. She advised my Dr. Frey was out that week but I was in such pain I decided to schedule with Dr. Naghibi. I was skeptical at first but confidant that my experience would be just as pleasant as the first. I arrived 15 mins early for my appt as Crystal requested so I could complete the necessary paperwork. I also emailed her my X-rays so she could pull them for the surgeon. I was called to the back at 10:05. I signed another consent, made my payment and to the procedure area I went. Shaunte, who was my dental assistant was exceptionally pleasant. She took my BP and got me prepped for my procedure. Dr. Naghibi came in soon after. She's very professional. She explained everything she was doing. If I told her I felt pain she immediately address the concern. During the entire procedure Shaunte was there offering encouragement and vacuuming the excess saliva from my mouth. She was very good. The entire procedure took 20-25 mins. That was for 2 wisdom teeth. I'm on day 4 of recovery and I have had little swelling. My pain had not been more than a 4 on a 1-10 scale. I've been able to stick with the Motrin for pain and I followed the after care instructions exactly as they were explained by Shaunte. I would definitely recommend this office to anyone needing a tooth extraction or are considering implants. The staff here are very pleasant and professional from the receptionist to the surgeon. They also called the next day after surgery to see how I was feeling and to see if I had any questions. read more

I never thought I would sign up to yelp. But I feel I must warn anyone referred to MOSA Laurel and Scott Kim. If you have been referred for a tooth removal go somewhere else. In my 47 years of being treated by dentist and oral surgeons I have NEVER had as terrible of an experience as this one. I dont miss dental checkups. I have never had a crooked or chipped tooth in my life. Haven't had a cavity in over 20 years. I was told having my wisdom tooth out would help with the migraines and bruxism I was experiencing. Kim was short, rude, and dismissive. No initial consult just show up, extraction, no follow up. There was absolutely nothing wrong with the tooth. My face was misshapen. He could only take HALF of the tooth dur to it being close to a nerve. What was even the point? After telling him about trigeminal neuralgia his procedure and treatment of my jaw threw me into 6 days of pure hell trying to cope. I ended up seeing a neurologist and oral facial pain specialist to get pain meds strong enough to deal with the pain. As when I came back 2 days after the procedure because the pain meds weren't effective, the manner in which I was treated I wouldn't send a dying horse to him for treatment. The front desk ladies, also nasty. The only thing I can think is they are overbooked understaffed have outside stressors in their lives because no way should things happen like this in a respectable dental office. I should've read the other reviews first. My family normally uses MOSA Bethesda. No issues. Now I have a crooked tooth, constant jaw pain, a painful protrusion in my cheek, and terrible nerve sensitivity. Stay away from this office. My consultation for my biopsy was scheduled for 2:15pm. Upon arrival they take payment upfront ( which is fine ) but the nurses had no idea or information about why I was even there. This is after I have described the reason for my visit upon scheduling the appointment as well as providing a referral letter. It's now 3:00pm and I still haven't been seen by dr. Kim. If you are going there to remove one wisdom tooth (or anything less than four), please beware that they may steer you into getting a coronectomy. Discuss the procedure with them before hand & ask if this may be a possibility, so that you are not blindsided in making a decision on the spot. This is what happened to my son who is in his 20s, but covered under my insurance. Do your research in advance, you will find that the scare tactics used for not getting a full extraction (such as nerve damage & drooling) are very low percentage of happening & if so, temporary. A coronectomy is more costly over time & will require more exposure to follow-up x-rays. Also, the receptionist with the brown hair was extremely rude & condescending to me. I wonder if she is the one someone else complained about in an earlier review. Additionally, make sure to ask if their x-ray machines are working before wasting a trip there. I had to have an extraction done on my lower molar. I have to say that the Assistant that worked with Dr. Frey her name was Nicole was exceptional. She explained everything to me and seemed very concerned about how l was adjusting. She also made me feel very comfortable. Dr. Frey is an excellent Oral Surgeon. He applied gel and numbed me right up so that I didn't feel a thing. He also do very well in explaining the procedure to me. I also like that he applies the hand sanitizer in front of me before applying his gloves. I also work in health care and can definitely appreciate that. I know l have one last wisdom tooth that have to go and when l get up the nerve to have it removed. I will definitely be returning to Dr. Frey l just hope he has that very nice and thoughtful Nicole working with him. Lastly don't let me forget about the front desk Team. Never again!! I arrived to my appointment with 2 abscessed teeth had no food or drink that day per doctor instructions. I am diabetic very tough day. Staff laughed and talked as I sat in misery as my appointment time drifted by a full 40 minutes. My son (my driver) begged me not to say anything. When I asked they tell me it will be at least 40 minutes more!!!! They are cruel, inconsiderate, unprofessional . If a apptment time being a mere suggestion for this office is OK for you then sign up for this special kind of torture. read more

Awful customer service. I was scheduled to have my wisdom tooth pulled at 11:45. I called at 11:00 to ask how long the procedure took and she told me that location didn't take HMO. I gave the receptionist my insurance information a week in advance and found out 45 minutes before my appointment. If I didn't call I would have never known. I was highly disappointed. I was referred to this dentist by my regular dentist to have a tooth extracted. I was greeted and was asked for ID and insurance cards right away!. I understand they want to be paid for their services and rightfully so. It appeared that they were more concerned with being paid than ANYTHING. Prior to going back to be treated i was asked to pay for my procedure, not a problem. The issue i have is that I felt the doctor had no compassion for someone like me who is scared to death of dentist. He appeared to get frustrated with me in the middle of trying to put pull out a very well rooted tooth and abruptly asked me if i wanted to be sedated and i said "yes". Well in the middle of half my tooth being pulled out and in pain, a staff member showed up and said "that'll be $410, right in the middle of the procedure!!! I asked her if she had to have it now and she said yes. I could not believe what i was being ask to do. She handed me my purse as i asked her to and off she went with my credit card. Talk about just being a number, no empathy, no nothing, just routine. After I woke from the sedation, the dentist was no where to be found....gone to the next patient. I was escorted to my cab that was waiting and that was it. I was given post instructions by one of the staff members, but what if i had follow up questions for the Dr,.....out of luck? I'm sorry, but i did not experience what i thought i would since this office was referred by a doctor i highly respect. No bed side manner here! Today I've just had my two upper wisdom teeth removed by Dr. Frey. Everything went like a breeze. Dr. Frey is extremely nice. The experience was totally pain free. The gel he puts on my gums numbed me so much, I barely felt the needle for the local anesthesia. Each tooth as removed in 1 minute, no exaggeration. Couldn't believe it. Go there with no fear. I had the most amazing experience at MOSA. I went to the Greenbelt location which was close to my home. The initial conversation over the phone with the staff was so pleasant. I called on a Tuesday and they were actually going to see me that morning. I was seen on Thursday at 8:30. I was greeted by the staff Vanessa, Julissa and Phillip the dental assistant. I opted for the "laughing gas" nitros oxide and was given 3 needles for numbing. Dr. E who was SUPER SWEET AND AMAZING explained all what would he would do and how he would take out my wisdom tooth. I definitely was nervous (mom of 3) the atmosphere was amazing the office decor gives a spa like feel as well. Well after receiving the nitros oxide and Dr. E came in and removed the tooth in a MATTER OF SECONDS!! It took all of 4-8 minutes mainly of the prep time. I was completely ready for the pain. NO PAIN AT ALL!! I was given a goody bag for the care of my tooth and directions and the staff called in my meds while back with the doctor. I picked up my meds at Target halfway home got a call to see how I was doing and if I picked up my meds. This group is AMAZINGLY AWESOME!! Frey gave nearly 10 shots for what should have been a very simple tooth pull for a competent dentist. I've never gotten more than 2 or 3 and I have no idea why he kept giving more and more and some were quite painful. I should have gotten out of the chair at that point and ran for the door because that was not even the worse part. He was like a bull in a china shop and damaged 5 other teeth in the process. Also beware, if it seems like he gets positive reviews it is because he gets most of the negative ones deleted. Please don't go here or let anyone you know go here. My experience at Maryland Oral Surgery Associates was a pleasant one. Dr. Frey removed three of my wisdom teeth and the entire process was pain free. I did general anesthesia and stayed asleep for the entire procedure, I barely remember him putting in the IV and going under. I woke up to what felt like seconds later and my teeth were already out. Dr. Frey did exceptional work, which made the healing process extremely easy. I got mine out on a Friday and was back to work on Monday after taking it easy for a couple of days.
