honestly the course is nice but they just need some porta potties. plenty of room for them and most golf courses have them

I don't understand the negative reviews - yes, they're doing some work around the clubhouse - which is going to be beautiful when it's done - but the course itself is fantastic. The fairways and greens were as good as I've played all year in MA, NH and CT. The layout is great and many of the views are beautiful. It's a challenging course, but not overly so. Back 9 tougher than the front, but both are fun and challenging. If you're spraying the driver, keep it in the bag. Of the criticisms - this one is ridiculous: "In more than one case you literally tee off INTO another tee box. It defies logic. The place looks like it was hit by a meteor. " Utterly ridiculous - NOWHERE do you tee off INTO another tee box, that is idiotic - maybe he should have checked the map on the card. Nor does it look - AT ALL - like it was hit by a meteor. Construction is limited to base of clubhouse area and not near any holes. They have the building - which is really unique and modern looking - and are working around the base of the building while STILL having a nice outside patio area and inside bar. So, NO - no meteor strike... The cart paths need some attention (potholes) - big whoop - other than that, the place is awesome. Ordered some food and drinks at the turn, but since they were busy, they had us go ahead and start the back 9 - they drove out the food and drinks to us on the 10th tee which was great! Staff very nice - really went out of their way to make sure we had a good time. The smash burgers alone are worth the trip. We'll definitely be back - maybe this fall - but once they're done with the clubhouse this place will be really special. read more

This place looks like a construction site on every hole. The fairways and greens are in good shape, but everything else is covered in piles of dirt, fallen trees and rocks. I wouldn't even hit out of the bunkers because of the fist-size rocks in them. Perhaps the most frustrating part of this 18-hole nightmare was the fact that the sprinklers were ALL running throughout the entire round. Dodging the water on saturated tee boxes and fairways was more challenging than the 230 yard par 3. When I complained about the sprinklers, they actually tried to justify it by saying it's hot out. I've never ever seen sprinklers running on a course at 11:30 in the morning. Worst golf experience ever! I'll never go back. read more

The course has potential and some lovely views, but never have I played 9 holes that were so tightly packed together as I did at Laurel View. This course is extremely poorly maintained. They take your info and assign you a cart number because damage has been done to the carts which is understandable but driving on the cart path is like navigating around potholes and boulders. Debris goose shit and trash all over the course. 70 something dollars for 2 ppl and a cart. Definitely do NOT recommend. read more

I gave $73 for the green fee on a weekend, which is average in my opinion. Although the course itself was far from average. The property is under construction so I will give it a pass on certain things, but ask for the front nine I did not enjoy it whatsoever. I feel like they stuffed nine holes into a four hole playing area when you're standing on the Teebox, you can pretty much see four or five holes at once, it feels as if there wasn't enough space. And the cart paths were horrendous. There was a few holes that were recently paved which were great but 80% of the holes were pretty much dirt patches with tree roots and potholes which was very uncomfortable. On the other hand, the back nine was a complete different story all the holes in the back nine where are unique and challenging. I also didn't feel like I had to watch five other holes being played while I was on the Teebox. With that being said, I am or standing under construction, and I hope that all these issues get resolved, but as of now I will not be playing until it is done. read more

Much improved since all the horrible reviews posted here. A major effort is being made to improve what was a very neglected golf course. The rough has been cut, the cart paths repaired, the diseased greens treated now returning to shape, new sand in some bunkers, a new golf pro and assistant pro, a place where you can stop for a drink and something to eat... There are still many bunkers loaded with rocks and dirt and some areas that need improvement, but the place looks much better so far. Very well designed challenging course and fun to play. read more

This place is terrible. The ownership should just close it, it's so embarrassing. I will never pay to play here and might not even if it was free it's that bad. Bunkers have literally plants growing in all of them and haven't been raked all season it looks like. Worst experience possible. They should shut down. read more

Should not even call it a golf course. It looks like it was abandoned at least 5 years ago. I love the pro shop...empty. What kind of pro would be hanging his hat at this place??!! I love the bar/restaurant...closed....who would want to drink and eat overlooking this mess? I do like the self serve driving range...go out into the tall grass, avoid any snakes...and if you find a ball...you can go back to the worn, 20 year old mats and take a swing ... sending your ball back into the jungle. I remember this place...when it once was a nice course...and it does have good bones.,..but at this stage of disrepair...it will take many million$$ to fix it up. Too bad they let it go. read more

Would not recommend playing this course. Their prices are unreasonable for the quality of the course. They are charging the same prices as elite level golf courses in the state, when their course is in AWFUL condition. The course is poorly maintained, the greens are bad, bunkers are a mess, and cart paths are unusable. Would recommend saving your money and playing anywhere else!! read more

Tough layout that's fun, yet missing all the little things. Pro shop is bare, driving range is barren, cart paths are like off-roading, and sand traps were missing rakes yet had plenty of bees nesting in them. A little investment and it'd be a gem. read more

This could be a beautiful course. The landscape it tired and beat up. The course has definite potential.

This place should change its name to Lousy Valley. First off the starter said we couldn't play from the whites because the course would play to short then preceded to hold us on the first tee until he could team us with two more players who happened to be members who then cracked wise the whole round. When they tried to impart the golf knowledge on my playing partner we almost walked off. The second chance we played we were a threesome playing a good pace of play with no one in front or behind us and the ranger came up to us on hole 17 and admonished us for being 15 minutes off the pace. Come on now 15 minutes. Its too bad the front 9 is one of the prettiest layouts I've played but the back nine is another story. It's overly tight and long with many huge drop offs, really harder then it needs to be. Should you fail to heed this warning bring lots of golf balls you're going to need them. I'd rate this course a "skip it" unless you enjoy frustration and being pushed by a bunch of town workers who get off on their little power trips. read more

After promising myself I'd never play Laural View again after the last horrible experience, it happened once again..wtf? We scheduled a round at 8:16am yesterday. We get to the course and a Ole timer mens league were teeing off in front of and we were forced to tee off that back and was warned that we may not be able to make the turn because of the league and a shot gun tournament!! So we drive up to 18 and were greeted by 3 4-somes ahead of us and 2 4-somes teeing off!! We couldn't finish our round and we were basically told that we were done for the day!!! So we go back to the pro shop and demanded our money back and got nothing but the run a round as usuall. We were finally refunded $15.00 of our $29.00!! Bullshit! They over book the course and not update the times with golf now and show availabilities for times that do not exist!!!! The course is in terrible shape!! millions of unrepaired divots everywhere, cart paths are like a motorcross track, poor greens and rock hard sand traps, xerox copied score cards, no food or refreshments...the list goes on and on!!! I grew up on this course and remember when it was a fun place to play! This is probably the worst course in Connecticut and overpriced! read more

First time in several years played here and I won't bother to reiterate what everyone else has said because it's all true! I'd like to know when the town is going to get some competent golf course management here. What was once one the state's premier municipal golf facilities is now a dump! Even at the discount prices it's not worth it! Don't waste your time or money! read more
