I don't enjoy leaving poor reviews and rarely do so. I also don't enjoy having my time wasted. I reached out to Lauren 6 weeks ago for a consult on a new home purchase after she was recommended by my realtor. She initially responded within a day and asked for drawings, which I promptly provided. Then crickets for a week. I followed up. She had been out of town, but re-engaged and said she would review my drawings and get me an engineering statement. Then crickets again. I followed up again a week later and again a week after that. She ultimately ghosted me. Communication and setting expectations is important. My project was delayed 6 weeks because Lauren was unable to do either. I've had architects tell me they are 6 months out from being able to start a project and I've decided to patiently wait. Other times, I might opt to move on if something is more urgent. Engaging with clients, making promises, then not following through is unprofessional and discourteous. Boo. read more

Laurie was fantastic. We were able to get her to our home next day, and she spent just over 2 hours reviewing every inch of our home. She took the time to understand our primary issues but also made sure to check out everything she could. She helped us come up with a plan of what to keep an eye on and how to do it, the range of solutions we can expect depending on different scenarios of deterioration, things we can ourselves do asap, and how to prioritize hiring other experts to start tackling issues. Although overwhelming facing the challenges of a over 100 year old foundation and a wreck of drainage issues, Laurie helped up feel like we could take on the issues and hopefully mitigate any extremely scary situations. Bought a house with no inspection due to hot market. After moving in, found many cracks on foundation wall, uneven floors and ceilings cracks. Was really stressed out. Laurie was able to help checking out all cracks. Discuss why they appeared, how serious are they and what needed to be done to address them(easiest way to the worst case scenario.) when she went to attic, she found there is part of ceiling does not have enough support. She use a logical way to explain that it has been like that for 60 years, so it should be fine during normal situations. But under heavy load of snow and if they cannot be melted quickly, That part of roof could potentially not able to support the weight. She even guess that there could be some sag on roof in that area. When we went outside to take a peek of the roof. It is in deed sagged in that area. Overall, she is right on time for the appointment, very patient at explaining all the issues and answering any questions I brought up. I should have done this so much sooner. Allow me to advise you, do call her when you own, or are contemplating purchasing, an older home. Our home is from 1911, and I was relieved to hear that it has good bones (phew!). Of course, there are things we need to implement. Lauren helped me pinpoint the areas of first priority, and left explicit notes on how to best accomplish these, as you can see from my picture. She is knowledgeable, competent, and professional. Naturally, Lauren came to our home and spent over an hour and a half of time, explaining in detail, in a calm and efficient manner, taking notes while inspecting with me.
