For FIVE years a little used corner of my basement leaked. We had an old 1916 drainage pipe that was leaking rain water into our basement. We were referred to Ability Drainage by our local Windermere Realtor Joan Rogers. It was an excellent referral, Ability came and assessed the basement water issue. They scoped the drainage pipe and provided videos. We then signed the contract for Ability to replace the drainage pipe that connected two downspouts to the street. Their crew turned up on time. Dug a trench the entire length of the house and installed the new drain within a day. They laid plastic to minimize any mud and were careful not to damage any of our plants. We are huge fans of Ability Plus, and today is the second time we've been blown away by their honesty. Four years ago, Konner at Ability Plus helped us find an affordable, simple solution to some serious water intrusion issues when we first bought our house, and it's still nice and dry down there. Last week another company cold-called us to service the sump pump they installed before we bought the house, and that person tried to upsell us all sorts of unnecessary services using fear tactics. We moved into a new home with a few problems identified during the inspection. A non-working/improperly installed sump pump under the house was the first thing we wanted to get fixed, since having water under the house can cause all kinds of problems and it seems like rainy season is here to stay already this year. We arranged an estimate (free, btw) and drainage specialist Konnor came out to get under the house and let us know what he saw and what he'd recommend to take care of the issues. My personal knowledge/understanding of anything drainage-related is zero, and still I felt that his assessment of the situation was fair and I was not oversold on unnecessary services. He gave us a quote that was better than another we'd received so made arrangement to have him and his crew back to do the work. Everything was really easily coordinated with Kinsey in the office; she was very prompt with her communication. On the day of, Konnor and his team arrived on time and were communicative about everything that was going on. They also left our hallway and crawlspace access clean and were friendly to the dog and kid. Outside, we noticed some pipe shavings that weren't picked up and found a left-behind razor blade (yikes!). Little things to ding off a star. When the basement flooded after yet another torrential downpour, it was time to do something. Who to call? Looked up names on the neighborhood list serve and contacted Konnor at Ability Plus. He came over, inspected the area and gave me two options, a cheaper one and a more expensive one, both of which were guaranteed to do the job. I went with the cheaper one. The crew came over, did some digging and added a sump pump, which would propel the water away from the house down into a drain. The job was completed. Then it rained. Oops. Water cascaded into the basement just as it had before. I thought to myself, "I should have gone with the more expensive option." I called Konnor and he came over to take a look. Almost sheepishly, he said it appeared the sump pump had not been plugged in. I was thinking what am I going to do now? How much is this going to cost me, when Konnor said "we'll handle it." The crew came out a second time, did some more digging and added a new sump pump. Then it rained again, and again water cascaded into the basement exactly as it had before. I called Konnor, "uh, Konnor, it's still coming in." I half expected him to say "it's your problem now." He didn't. He came over a third time and this time looked online to see what he could find out about the house's construction in 1906, and there it was. A big pipe going under the basement had been sawed off long ago and left uncapped. The old pipe would fill with water and leak into the basement. The crew at Ability Plus jack hammered through the basement's cement floor to get access to the pipe, ran some new tubes and did some more digging. When it was all put back together everything was perfect. No more water. To say these guys stand behind their work would be an understatement. Ability Plus Drainage has done 2 jobs for us so far, a French drain in spring of 2020 and a shed site preparation just completed (Oct 2021). Greg and his crew did excellent work both times. They show up on time, do meticulous work, and honor their price estimate, even though in the case of the site prep extra material was required because of a steeper than anticipated slope. The shed company had extremely exacting specifications in terms of leveling, components, and process. The crew used a laser level as well as spending a great deal of time getting the site to square. About 1 year ago, I contacted Ability Plus to help me with water issues. I live on a slope and we had a little river that was pooling along the foundation, leaking into the crawlspace, and going back out through a low point drain. Konnor came out and walked me through a solution and assured me that, while I need to fix the issue, it wasn't an immediate threat. I felt much better. He sent me a quote soon after. I got three bids and Ability plus was in the middle one, but I liked their solution the best. They were booked out a little far, but it was in the middle of rainy season so I wasn't too surprised. The crew came out with Konnor the 1st day and we all went outside to discuss what was going to be done. One of the subs had an attitude towards some instructions, but Konnor put him in his place, which was deserved in my opinion. A french drain was installed and they cleaned out my low point drain in the crawl space as it was getting clogged. They finished the job in 2 or 3 days as expected. One year later, my issues are still resolved and the system is humming along nicely. There is really not much more I can ask for. I will use this company if I have any more drainage issues. Ability Plus is fantastic! We have had a reoccurring flooding issue with our house and Konnor was the first person to properly identify the problem and come up with a comprehensive solution. He spent a lot of time talking through things and provided a fair estimate for all of the work to be done. We had our exterior of our home worked on first by redirecting water away from the foundation, installing several drains and building a new retaining wall.  Tony, the on site project lead and his team did an incredible job with this. Not only is it solving our standing water issues and directing water away, our yard has never looked better. Tony has a great eye for landscaping and thought of every detail to make the area they worked on more beautiful and functional. Customer service? This is not a review of the quality of Ability Plus' work but, rather, of their customer service. We can't comment on their work because they did not do any for us. We had them come out to look at some water damage in a basement bedroom. The source of the damage was not determinable by visual inspection, so the company was going to put together a quote to assess the cause. After a MONTH of repeated calls from us, we had still not received the quote. Finally, after much persistence on our end they sent a quote but the quote was for repairs based on a cause that had not yet been determined. Per the instructions in the quote, I called Greg to inquire about the quote and left a message. I never received a return call. We have given up and are now going to go with a different firm. I have no idea why this occurred. All I can guess is that they didn't really want the business. I would have no problem with this if they just told us such, but we have wasted about a month and a half now trying to get the project moving. read more

We hired Ability Plus for a leaking basement problem. We had been looking for years for someone that we thought could figure out the problem: water problems are very very difficult; Greg, the owner is an expert at his business, and his years have given him experience very few people have. I am an engineer and understand many things most people do not; Ability Plus knows what they are doing. We started fixing one obvious problem, but they soon discovered three more problems ... you never know what you find until you dig under the ground. Ability Plus charged me over $4500. For that I was supposed to get my 2 gutters in the back connected to a pipe that would run along the side of the house and out into the front yard. What I got in return was about 25 feet of pipe along the side of my house that goes nowhere at either end. Then in the back of the house where they were supposed to connect my 2 gutters, they left one draining into a pipe that goes straight into the ground next to the house. To cover up that one they put a fake cleanout that connects to the 5 foot pipe straight down into the ground. The other gutter: they dug a small drywell about 3 feet out. Needless to say, I have water seeping into my basement anytime it rains hard. No stars for these crooks! I had to give a star to get this review printed. read more
