    Girl's dresses, accessories...

Lauren's Closet has been here for decades, selling gently used clothes, toys for babies, children. I didn't know nothing would fit me, not even close. Some items looked new like handbags, purses, accessories, children books, toys, games, shoes... I looked at the full shelves, peruse a few items which seem to be reasonably priced. During this time, i saw nothing in my range. Didn't require any service. Just directions to the back room. Didn't buy anything. If i needed to buy children's clothes, i know where to look now. Staff was attentive, courteous, busy at the front counter. 3.5 stars

I don't think this place is particularly fair with their consignment collecting. The service was friendly when I was there on Saturday but there is usually an older woman working who is a bit prickly. I have always found something for my kiddos and I've been coming here for several years of fostering. I keep going back because there are not many consignment places. I'm happy the other one moved down the block. I take my clothes to that one. Plenty of good deals especially when you are looking For an event.

Ballet and dance clothes and tights

Attention Dance Moms and Dads: This is the only local shop in Alameda I could find that sells the ballet slippers, leotards, and tights needed for ABA and Tutu school. I started shopping here for kids ballet clothes and tights, because they have high quality Bloch brand shoes and tights along with a good selection of new and used dance clothes. I also bought some super cute baby clothes for a baby shower gift. When I asked if they give gift receipts, the shop owner asked if I'd like free gift wrapping service. I was blown away by how fancy she wrapped it. The only reason I deducted a star is because they need a serious upgrade to their website and online presence. I couldn't even figure out what type of clothes they sold based on their website or social media when I was searching online for a small biz option to buy dance wear. I had to come in person to browse the shops on Park St and discovered the dance section here.

We love Lauren's. I always find great WIDE shoes for my two year old here and they're typically only $10! The children's clothes are so reasonably priced. We've gotten great rain boots, velcro sk8 reissue vans, footie pjs, snow boots, rain jackets and so much from here! I see several bad reviews of ppl being upset bc the store isn't buying their donations, but they can only take in so much... they have to be able to sell what they have. Also it's usually a seasonal thing too. I hope people are able to get past not making money off the store and instead appreciating gently used items at a great price for our children that grow so fast and dirty clothes quickly! They also have jelly cat stuffies here which are the cutest most unique toys. This store also offers new items like books, socks, coloring books, toys etc if you're gift shopping. For my son's birthday they offered to put his stuffy and book in a cute bag with tissue paper and curly ribbon(: I also like that they have a women's side of thrifted clothes.

I first visited this shop during a samhain themed magical market they held, and it was so packed it…read morewas impossible to really browse like I would have wanted, although the market itself was lovely. I recently came back, and this review is primarily for that experience. The store itself is warm (at times uncomfortably so) but they do absolutely everything they can to keep folks comfortable while shopping including cold water, a fan by the books that is incredible, and they have some seats where one can rest if they get overly warm. I suspect the store temp itself is out of their control given the care with which they make their customers comfortable. As i wandered, Ash checked in on me several times. It was never in a way that made me feel watched or uncomfortable, and always about different products I was looking at, checking to see if I had any questions. The amount of attention felt personal but not overbearing as some small shops like this can be. We had a bit of a fun chat about crystals, which is one of his specialties. I will say the products there are high quality, and some of the prices reflect it. While some things were more than I'd prefer to spend for the item, it wasn't because the value isn't there, it just meant I couldn't buy thr whole store, although I wish I could have! I bought a statue, some items in jars, a cast iron mini cauldron because I use them for safe burning in ritual, and a fairy stone that was unique and calling me. I finished with an impromptu 20 minute tarot reading from Isabella. I have been reading tarot cards 27 years, and haven't had a professional reading in almost a long, but it just felt right in the moment. It was a general reading about my next life steps, and while the specifics are my own to hold onto, I will say that the information she shared directly reflected some very specific things about my life. I generally view tarot less as predictive and more as an exercise in reflection or reading influences, and this met that and then some. There were even a couple of times that specific things were mentioned that while I remained neutral didn't quite fit my way of being (little things like writing vs voicing thoughts), and as soon as the initial statement was made, she would say or.. and then say the exact alternative that would be more aligned with my personality. The fact that it happened at least 3 times, and that it wasn't just a series of examples but almost a self correction to what aligned with my energy, told me a lot about the connection Isabella has to her clients. In addition to the incredibly on point reading, she had such a warm and welcoming energy that I'm already tempted to plan my next reading, even though the reading reinforced my intuition about what I should be doing. Reading your own cards is great, but sometimes your opinions and bias can prevent you from considering other options. Having an incredible reader like Isabella available to give an outside read is a great tool. I will absolutely be back!

However, the parking situation can be quite tedious when arriving after 10am. The entrance fee varies based on the time you come in, with the most expensive being when they open at 6am ($20). My family and I got there around 11am and it was a $10 entrance fee. They do allow re-entries so long as you get a handstamp before exiting. Today was my first time visiting and I was taken aback by how pricey a lot of items were - especially the clothing. Many were priced higher than new items. The food vendors present were underwhelming. We had Donna's Tamales and it was quite bland and overpriced. They charged me $18 for 2 corn chili tamales. My husband and I had hoped to find some items for our new spot, but left empty handed. Not sure I will be back for how marked up the items were.

Even knowing this it felt like I should have worn a thicker jacket. The kids and wife were freezing and we had to get them used sweaters and a blanket from vendors on site. It's a curated selection of antiques, vintage good, and clothes so it will be more expensive than traditional flea markets. They have foods on site on the right side with normal items like coffee and breakfast burritos all the way to ube waffles and fried chicken. There are some treasures here if you are willing to go digging: -Near the front was a lady that had preserved bugs that were mounted in nice displays or frozen forever in blocks of acrylic. These are locally made and some of the species I haven't seen before preserved and available for purchase. -Seaglass and antique glass merchants. Saw two of these guys and liked the odd rainbow patina for glass that has spent decades in ocean water. -Japanese wood medicine boxes, these were decorated with old stickers and looked so good for storing items. They were 40-70 each and were priced well below market value.

Simply put these ladies have a great eye for vintage and have a vast array of items. It is all here for the taking from vintage handbags, gloves, jewelry, hats, slips, dresses, beaded sweaters, skirts, and other items too numerous to mention. All the items have carefully curated nothing smells fowl or of mothballs either. The items are displayed so beautifully too! The owners Claudia and Lucy are so knowledgeable they really know of what they are selling. I was thrilled with their inventory. Never have I wanted so many items which is rare for me and vintage! I am quite particular of what I buy and collect. I was taken with the quality and the reasonable prices for their wares. The store was having a red line sale this past Saturday if the item has a red line across the price tag it is 50% off! I walked out with two vintage purses for a mere $ 12.00 each. You cannot buy a brand new purse for that price and not of such quality either. Lucy invited me to a cocktail reception that her and Claudia were hosting from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. I was impressed with their customer service and the ambiance of the store I will be back. I signed up for their email list as well. That way I have first dibs on upcoming sales and promotions! Happy hunting gals! I was hesitant to give such a glowing review as this is such a treasure in Oakland. I don't want other girls grabbing my must haves! But this place deserves a 10 star if it was all possible. Thank you Lucy and Claudia for welcoming me into your store! I will be back in the future.
