Vicky ended up needing surgery to remove 2 HUGE cysts that I admit I should have taken care of when they were smaller. Anyway, Dr. Snyder suggested a surgeon for me to contact. I respect his honesty--a less honest veterinarian would have attempted the complicated surgery himself. Vicky's surgery was successful, and she is healing well. But I will always return to Dr. Snyder with both my rottie and by beagle for all future exams, shots, etc. as he is sincere, gentle, and kind. And that's what is most important when looking for a vet!

I was delighted when he told me about "their" Alton Veterinary Clinic! Dr. Scire and her staff, from front desk to all the Technicians, were always kind to me which I appreciated because I was going through some very significant health challenges and associated financial changes as well, and I really needed to have a "happy" experience for myself and my dog, Garrison! His needs were: vaccinations, heartworm check, dentistry, and an aggressively growing lump removed. The first visit covered vaccinations, heartworm, fecal and urinalysis. The second visit included his preop bloodwork. The third visit was for the dentistry and surgery performed under one anesthesia, and the fourth visit was for suture removal (included in the fee for the surgery). The charges were as expected and came in UNDER the high end of the range that was quoted. Thankfully, the growth cytology came back benign for cancer! I will always be able to recommend Alton Veterinary Clinic because they were willing to work with the "Scotties Rock Foundation", my source for the funding of Garrison's needs while I was going through cancer screening for myself. I forgot to mention that I am also a Hemorrhagic Stroke survivor as well, dealing with a left side deficit of strength, and they were very accommodating of my medical handicap and personal needs. They also are one of a very limited number of Animal Hospitals in the Lakes Region that still offer a Senior Citizen discount! I will forever be indebted to Dr. Scire and her excellent staff, for their kindness towards Garrison and me!

She was bones and fur when I got her. Needless to say, she is not happy about going to the vet and we have tried several. This was a completely different experience. We went into the exam room and Nicki greeted us and said she was our vet tech. She took my cat Cupcake in the crate and came back with her wrapped in a towel like a burrito (just her head was sticking out, it was so cute). Nicki is an execeptional vet tech. She is gentle, kind and caring. Dr. O'Connell came in and starting giving Cupcake Churu. I think Cupcake fell in love immediately. I've never heard her purr at the vet! I think Cupcake was so comfortable because there was something truly magical happening in that room. She was not only cared about, she was respected and trusted. We were actually able to get her real weight on the scale without holding her in a towel or being in a crate. A weight has been lifted off my shoulders. Thank you all for being so wonderful!

Since the practice was sold the quality of service has continually decreased and the level of apathy by the staff has consistently increased. Even after decades as customers - when we transferred all our dog's records to our new vet - they literally told us they didn't care to know why !!! Our new vet experience has been must better, nicer and less expensive !
