I was looking at the reviews and they seemed pretty good so, I thought, why not. This is a no frills nail shop. Pretty old school and that's okay. It isn't fancy, so don't expect anything over the top. I was seated at the back by the sink and all I could smell was incenses and sewage water. All the drainage water from the chairs were funneled down to the back. I am a fan of some smells, but incenses are very strong and over powering to me. Always has been. The woman gave me a fabulous manicure and her massage was a. 5/5! She was amazing. She said she has been with the salon for over 20 years. I could see myself possibly going back if in the area, but definitely not having them seat me towards the back. I don't mind the old school nail shops.

I finally got in, as they moved to a new location. I opted for a non gel pedicure and was surprised by the experience. I am used to having my feet soaked prior to service and after reading about the difference. It's more hygienic to do it waterless. Everything lasts longer! Crystal did not service me, but she noticed that I was new and made sure that I was comfortable and enjoyed my experience. This is a black owned business and the ladies were great. The ambiance is still in progress, but it was clean and neat. She makes her own scrub that is available for sale. Parking is ample and it's next door to Ross! I highly recommend this place as they take detailed measures to make sure your feet or hands are manicured to perfection!

I went to Nailed By Em expecting a nice treat, but I left feeling completely ripped off and deeply frustrated. This was, without a doubt, the worst nail appointment I've ever had. First, despite having an appointment, I was forced to wait for 45 minutes past my scheduled time. Emily herself was the one who kept me waiting, constantly rushing between clients and leaving me sitting in the corner with no communication other than a hurried "almost done." This completely threw off the rest of my day. When I finally got to the table, the service was hurried and poor. I asked for a simple acrylic fill and a standard gel color. Em seemed distracted and rushed the entire time. The resulting shape was uneven, the polish was sloppy around the cuticles, and there were visible bubbles trapped in the gel. When I pointed out that two of my nails were visibly crooked, she just sighed and made a half-hearted attempt to fix one of them before declaring she was finished. The hygiene standards also seemed questionable. The tools felt like they hadn't been sterilized properly, and the entire station was covered in dust from the previous client. The air was thick with harsh chemical smells. The Final Charge The shock continued at checkout. Em charged me an extra $15 "removal fee" for my old polish, which was never mentioned when I booked the appointment. On top of that, she automatically added a mandatory 18% tip to the transaction before handing the machine to me, even though the service was clearly terrible. I ended up paying over $80 for a manicure I will have to get fixed somewhere else. Save your money and your time. Do not go here. This tech is disorganized, unprofessional, and the quality of the work is a joke.

At first, I was a little scared of trying this place out because of the price being on the friendlier side ($35) but I thought I'd give it a shot and I am so glad I did. Parking: My appointment was on a Thursday at noon and I'm going to warn y'all that the parking situation was a little tough when I went. The main lot was filled which made me resort to street parking- that being said, I'd get to the area a little early just in case this happens. Location: The spa is on the second floor in suite 200. When you open the door, Color Theory will be directly to your right (if you see the cute chair that's in the picture that I took, you're in the right place)! Immediately when I walked in, I was warmly greeted by the owner and felt super welcomed! Experience: Although some people love it when spa's have a huge selection of colors to choose from, I personally get overwhelmed and anxious since I'm the world's most indecisive person lol. But Color Theory has carefully picked out nail polishes that are quality in both color and ingredients (their nail polishes and sugar scrubs are all about gentle beauty which means non-toxic & organic which I absolutely love). While I was getting my toes done, I was talking to the owner and I was honestly really inspired. Her story/mission encompassed so much passion and dedication in providing the best experience to customers. She really takes into account her own experiences from being a customer at nail salons and implements it to her small business. The sugar scrub massage felt great and left my leg/foot feeling silky and smooth. And it was lavender infused to it smelled amazing and felt so calming. As for my toes, they were cleaned and painted very well! I got the shellac/gel and I've had them for over week now- so far so good! Overall: Unlike many places, Color Theory truly focuses on providing the best possible experience for customers. Nowadays, most salons are all about getting people in/out as fast as possible and getting the most amount of profit but this place is the opposite and focuses on one customer at a time. That being said, I don't think they accept walk ins but I could be wrong so I'd double check (either way, I'd either call them to set up an appointment to plan ahead of time) Also, I wanted to take a moment to mention how clean this place is- usually, I don't love going to nail salons because it's not the most sanitary but Color Theory prioritizes cleanliness/sanitation. The counters are sanitized thoroughly after every client, the foot bathtubs are sprayed/cleaned very well, etc. I also love that this is a black woman owned business which I haven't seen very often when visiting nail salons. Plus the owner is a mother so huge props! Overall, I cannot recommend Color Theory enough and whenever I need my nails done, I will only be coming back to this salon!
