When I arrived, Tina was the one assisting at the front desk and she was also the person who performed my facial. During the appointment, she examined my skin and told me that I have combination skin and that I had build-up in my pores. She recommended an additional service called "pore therapy," which she described as a device/pen that suctioned the buildup out of the pores. She told me this service would cost an additional $80, which I agreed to at the time. However, I want to point out that I have been to many small businesses and estheticians before, and they usually provide much better service for significantly less money than what this place charges. So for anyone booking through Groupon, be aware that the pore suction/extraction service is NOT included and will be charged as an extra add-on. Unfortunately, the biggest issue was that during the extraction process Tina left a scar on my face. I have never had this mark on my face before visiting this place, and it appeared after the facial. (Photos attached.) Another frustrating situation happened today, 03/11/25. When I originally visited on 02/13/25, Tina gave me a gift card, which I accepted. When I came back today to use it, she told me it was a misunderstanding and that the gift card was not valid. A misunderstanding that was HER fault for not reading her screen correctly. This was extremely frustrating because I took the time to go back, and I had even texted them beforehand about the gift card, so they were aware that I planned to come in and use it. So not only did I leave my first appointment with a scar on my face, but I also wasted my time returning for a gift card that they later refused to honor. In my opinion, the bare minimum that could have been done to make the situation right would have been to honor the gift card, provide a valid replacement, or at least offer a discounted service or product. I even tried to negotiate with her, but instead she told me to "go to Ulta and buy it there if they have it," especially after I mentioned the product was priced about the same as it would be at Ulta. Overall, this experience was very disappointing and unprofessional. My advice to anyone considering this place is to be cautious about what is promised or promoted, especially if you are booking through Groupon. PLEASE think twice before spending your money here. In my experience, it was not worth it.

One piece of feedback I have is that I wish the polish had been applied more evenly. On some nails, you can see a bit of the natural nail showing through near the bottom. Both of my thumbs also have a thicker coating toward the top, which creates a slight slope where the polish builds up. Overall, if you're looking for a quick and affordable nail service, this could be a good option. The staff were very friendly, and the total came out to $38 before tip.

When I arrived, I had to fill out a brief form. Carolina was wearing a medical grade mask when I arrived. My eyebrow wax was quick and painless. Carolina chatted with my to pass the time. My eyebrows look great and I had no reaction to the wax. Carolina gave me some hydrocortisone cream and my redness was gone by the time I arrived home. But Color Theory has carefully picked out nail polishes that are quality in both color and ingredients (their nail polishes and sugar scrubs are all about gentle beauty which means non-toxic & organic which I absolutely love). While I was getting my toes done, I was talking to the owner and I was honestly really inspired. Her story/mission encompassed so much passion and dedication in providing the best experience to customers. She really takes into account her own experiences from being a customer at nail salons and implements it to her small business. The sugar scrub massage felt great and left my leg/foot feeling silky and smooth. And it was lavender infused to it smelled amazing and felt so calming. As for my toes, they were cleaned and painted very well! I got the shellac/gel and I've had them for over week now- so far so good! That being said, I don't think they accept walk ins but I could be wrong so I'd double check (either way, I'd either call them to set up an appointment to plan ahead of time) Also, I wanted to take a moment to mention how clean this place is- usually, I don't love going to nail salons because it's not the most sanitary but Color Theory prioritizes cleanliness/sanitation. The counters are sanitized thoroughly after every client, the foot bathtubs are sprayed/cleaned very well, etc. I also love that this is a black woman owned business which I haven't seen very often when visiting nail salons.
