After much stress, the gown FINALLY arrived May 20th for a June 10th wedding. Daughter made numerous calls & always a different story as to delay. Universal NEVER initated any calls OR gave updates. The day my granddaughter tried on dresses, I felt the clerk gave little attention to her & observed her constantly checking her watch / phone. I would think, when 1 has an appointment, the customer should be top priority for the hour reserved. Clerk did nothing to assist such as arranging train - my daughter did it all. Then, to make it worse, when my daughter (mother of the bride) dress arrived, it was wrong color, but they tried to tell her it was right. Finally they agreed it was wrong. We honestly do NOT think the 2nd dress was the same one she originally ordered but it was right color & there was NO time to reorder. Extremely disappointed with all. Ultimately, we chose the place because this is where both my sister and I had gotten prom dresses and had a good experience. First of all, I felt very overwhelmed. I don't feel the bridal portion of their business is very intimate. It didn't feel special. It felt like they were just giving me dresses to try and if it didn't work out, oh well. The dressing room felt very awkward. There's no robe to wear so you're just standing in there waiting for another dress, etc. If anything I felt like I was just another person in there. I didn't fell very welcome upon my arrival. It just felt like this was another bridal appointment. Another thing is they don't question about your day, or your budget. I'd like to think that some place like this would ask about your budget. Again, nothing about my appointment felt intimate or tailored to my needs. After I found my dress, I wasn't offered a picture of any kind. With a sign, with the friends who came, or even of myself in general. It was basically a pay and have a nice day. If I can suggest anything it would be to make brides feel more accepted and not just like another appointment in the business. Also, I really believe there would be much benefit in almost completely separating the bridal portion from the prom portion. And yes it's in separate areas but I'm talking a door or something that keeps the prom side from the bridal side. I won't be recommending Universe for bridal, prom sure, but bridal absolutely not.
