I LOVED the lodge itself for my wedding but dealing with the city of Durham Parks and Recreation rentals was a pretty rough experience. First off, it's a pretty far drive to go one of the two days of the month they are actually open, and a pretty irritating drive back if you were told the wrong day. Then we went back on the next day they were open because we were supposed to get measurements of the tables for our party rental company, and the employee that was scheduled to be onsite wasn't there when we got there. I had to call the facilities manager and ask her why a city owned facility wasn't open on one of the only two days of the month it was supposed to be open to the public. I guess there had been a mix-up with communication after an event had been cancelled that morning and the employee assumed that meant they weren't needed for the day. The afternoon employee was right on time for his shift but we were pretty irritated. Not exactly stress any bride needs the month before her wedding day. Second off, I was guaranteed my security deposit back no later than 7 weeks after our event. It's now a month past that deadline and I have called twice only to discover that the first time I updated my address the check was written and mailed to a house on the same street as my old address.. not even the house I used to live at. So hopefully this will be resolved within the next 48 hours. The third bummer was that there is barely any cell service in the area so don't expect to be able to receive phone calls for lost family members. Print out directs for guests ahead of time. The perks of the facility are endless wooded scenery and backdrops for your small family wedding, a reasonable price (if your security deposit ever makes it back to you), a paved driveway and wheelchair access for our grandparents, a complete surround sound speaker system that you can hook an ipod or cell phone up to (we paid someone $100 to be our DJ and created our playlist on itunes), indoor AC, an ice machine, indoor plumbing (a rarity for wooded weddings), plenty of tables to use, a balcony for family portraits and a more than enough space for 50 people to come inside if the weather is bad. We loved our wedding day in the woods. Spruce Pine Lodge will be a great spot to go hiking on our anniversaries but just be forewarned that you need to give yourself plenty of time to visit and map out your wedding on the few trips you can actually make to visit the lodge.

The school I attended as a girl was built in 1931, and this building reminded me a lot of my old school. We were here for a fundraiser (we won tickets through Yelp), and there were about 300 people altogether. The room we were in easily held us all, but there weren't enough tables out for everyone to sit. At the far end is a stage that would be perfect for a band for musical events. There was a small, modern industrial kitchen (definitely not from the 1930s) across the hall from the main room. I know they host a lot of public events, but the Durham Armory would make a fun and different venue for a private event, too.

Rather,…read morethey figured out what we needed and the look we were after and spent a lot of time going over different ways we could get that look affordably. APR has a good variety of options for you to play with. And it does feel like playing! It was a lot of fun to mix and match tableware and linens to see how the different combinations looked. Cedrika could not have been more lovely when we visited--she was so personable and easy to work with. In fact, we had another appointment scheduled at a different rental provider, and after spending the morning with her at APR, we cancelled the other appointment. Our wedding was at the Museum of Life and Science in Durham, and I was thrilled with how seamlessly APR worked with the museum. After we chose our rentals, we had to do very little--the rest went through the venue, even when we had to make some last minute changes to accommodate changed table sizes. The rentals were delivered on time, they looked great, they were reasonably priced, and it was an easy process. I highly recommend this company!

They include the historic gardens, the Blomquist garden of native plants, the gateway gardens, and the Culbertson Asiatic arboretum. There is also a gardens Cafe.

Cute in a has a jar of (delicious) cookies at the check in desk at all times. Besides being so cute it's located perfectly right in UNCs campus and just blocks from Franklin street. We had a car since we were making our way thru North Carolina and needed to drive to Duke a few times, but if you're visiting UNC you could probably get away without a car. The room itself was cute (of course) and clean. My only dislikes was that the tv didn't have Netflix so my daughter and I couldn't watch a movie together, but my phone sufficed. The walls were also a little thin and we had some noisy neighbors. We enjoyed the brunch buffet before checking out on Sunday and it was delicious. Id I was bag in the triangle area I'd definitely stay here again!

The hotel is now a Hyatt property and the renovations added modern touches to the sleeping rooms and lobby and restaurant. We parked overnight and the valet and front desk and all the staff are extremely friendly and hospitable. The standard rooms come with showers so I paid an upgrade for a bathtub. The rooms come equipped with a mini fridge, robes, a lovely Nespresso machine, and very comfortable bed. We had a delicious dinner at Crossroads and also a fantastic brunch buffet on Sunday morning. The hotel is known as a wedding venue so it is a great place to host rehearsal dinners and weddings and have the guests stay overnight. It is the university hotel and has the Carolina charm and history and is a great place to stay for alumni, weddings, or other local events. You are within walking distance of the campus and right by Franklin street. Thank you for making our staycation so fabulous!

Well since that is why I have been here twice, it is nice enough for that. The exterior is kind of dirty and needs power-washing and painting. The inside is modern and nice, like a small convention center. There is tons of parking.

They have coffee and breakfast food in the morning, a decent buffet for lunch, plus an open snack area that includes sodas, coffee, fruit, granola bars and cookies open throughout the afternoon. I also had a complimentary smoothie (I believe it was blueberry) that was delicious. Tech support was good and although several of the attendees complained about the cold, I thought it was fine.

Felt a little iffy about leaving my car on the street not knowing the town. Staff interaction was minimal but lovely. Easy check in. Highly recommend if you are visiting.

The food was fantastic--right amount of appetizers, entrees and sandwiches. The staff was very attentive and nice. Only draw back was they only had one desert when there are five listed on the menu. Banana pudding would have been a nice ending, but our waiter explained they rarely ever have any of the desserts. Bar tender has talent also. If your visiting historic Hillsborough, certainly worth a stop here. I am glad we did.
