LaVida Massage in Georgia is merging with Hand & Stone (except for the East Cobb location), and customers who get services at other branches are getting left in the lurch! Please don't buy their assurances that you can use the sessions at other locations or that they won't be taken away if they're not used. The worst thing was being told that "Corporate" was reviewing my situation and would let me know when and how I could use the sessions that I HAD ALREADY PAID FOR. I have chronic neck pain, and, after joining LaVida East Cobb, I found that the massage therapists at LaVida Massage in Sandy Springs were better. I used my sessions there, and they charged them back to East Cobb whenever I used them. UNTIL LAST WEEK. The Sandy Springs location called to let me know of the upcoming merger with Hand & Stone. She said that, if my sessions were not transferred prior to the following Wednesday (Nov 1st), I would not be able to use them. She also said that several people were in my position and that Sandy Springs had transferred sessions to East Cobb for another customer. I called East Cobb, and the woman I spoke with was quite rude, saying that my account had been terminated and that they would transfer only 3 sessions, and the remaining 5 had to be used before the end of the year at the East Cobb location. At first, she said that I had terminated my account, but that was news to me! Of course, they couldn't come up with anything showing that I had requested termination or even that they told me it was being terminated. She acted as if they were doing me a big favor to even transfer 3 sessions, saying that "it would be a big hit to them financially." REALLY? IT'S MY MONEY, and I am sure that it's a bigger hit to me that it is to LaVida Massage. So now I have 3 sessions at the Sandy Springs location and 5 at East Cobb. The East Cobb owner at least said that I could work them off after the end of the year. The trouble is, the therapists there are not what I need. In sum, they went back on the promises that made to me when they signed me up and are still acting like the money from my bank account is theirs. Don't fall for it! read more

I won't lie, my first impression was terrible. I booked a 5:30 appointment online with intentions of heading there with my friends for our girls day after we were done watching Fifty Shades of Gray (yes, very typical haha). A not-so-friendly sounding lady called to ask if I can be there for 5:15 and I reluctantly agreed telling her of our plans. She didn't try to work with me. Her voice, stern, said well we don't have a 5:30 we are booked. So, why did it let me book that time? She then told me to be there 15 minutes early to fill out paperwork (which ended up taking me two whole minutes.) We went from 5:30 to 5:15 to 5:00. I ended up making it (obviously) but I don't like feeling rushed to especially to an appointment that is to soothe and help with my stress overload. I was honestly considering calling to cancel and forfeit $30. I am SO happy I didn't. When you walk in it is like what I would expect heaven to be (save the reception desk and product displays.) Lovely soothing music and aromatherapy. The receptionist greets you with a very calm and pleasant (soft) voice. She is super friendly and asks you to complete a short questionnare asking about areas you would like them to focus on as well as medical conditions and contact information. Even the area of the restrooms was nice. As I returned to the waiting area I was greeted by a very nice softspoken therapist by the name of Oksana. She led me through the dimly lit hallway and asked me if I wanted the table heated or no. She also asked which aromatherapy scent(s) I would like. I opted for my favorite (peppermint and eucalyptus.) When the massage began I knew it was going to be good. It was quite apparent that she reviewed my paperwork because not only did she target all of the areas I needed but was very gentle on the areas I listed as damaged. I am extremely pleased with my experience and cannot recommend Oksana enough. She is GREAT. I left feeling like jello. So much so that when I inquired as to the regular rate (they have a first time deal) and learned they have a program I actually signed up. Its a good deal for people who do, or want to, go for a massage regularly. 59.99 a month versus the typical 70 something dollars per massage drafted automatically and you get a one hour massage per month. Anything after that is at a reduced rate. They also roll over if you do not use it that month for whatever reason. My family and I have been going to LaVida East Cobb for close to 5 years and I must say that we have never had a bad experience. The staff, services offered, etc... are very good. It is really hard to talk about any one therapist in particular at this location because I like them all. Juan, Jiyong, Tiffani and Karin, whom at least one person in my family has worked with, are super good at what they do. And, today I had the pleasure of having Ericka work on a bad shoulder. It was truly a therapeutic and a rehabilitative massage. I really can't say enough about her technique in stretching and working the tightened muscles and ligaments in my neck and shoulders. When I went to my first and second dermaplanning treatments both technicians told me the peach fuzz should not come back for at least a month. When I left after both treatments my face felt good as the many products had been applied. It wasn't until I got home and took a close look in the mirror when applying my make up that I noticed patches of hair on various places on my face. That is not just normal growth back, that is hair (and dead skin removal) that was missed during both procedures. I called several times and was told someone had to speak to "management" and would call me back. No one ever followed up with me. I called again today and was told to go read your response to my Yelp review. Really? And the person I spoke to accused me of receiving several free treatments...which is a lie and rude. I had never been to your business prior to this February. I'm curious...had I not posted a review would I have ever heard from you? The fact that you are blaming me and telling me that peach fuzz removal is not guaranteed is ridiculous AND that you can't be bothered to pick up the phone and speak to a customer says a lot about you and your business practices. If it's your standard practice to not give refunds i respect that, but that could have been communicated to me directly and immediately not via not your accusatory response weeks later via Yelp. Went there to treat my girlfriend to a birthday couples massage. Major plus is the pricing for new clients. It only cost us $79 for us both for 60 min! (+ tip of course). Making an appointment was simple enough-- you can call, or use their pretty intuitive website. You do need a credit card on file at the time you make the appointment, because they'll take some money for no shows. The location is in the shopping center on the corner of Johnson Ferry and Lower Roswell. Parking isn't an issue, even around rush hour. The interior was clean, typical salon style decor. There's a nice large menu that has their pricings, and heavily pushes their monthly plan. As for the massage itself, it was really good. My therapist (Carey Leigh?) was excellent. She was polite, professional, and had a good flow. The room is quiet, dimly lit, no distractions or chatter of some of the Asian massage places. She asked you for any trouble spots, pressure preference, gave you an outline of what to expect, and 60 minutes flew by during a great massage! I would definitely go back to see her. read more

Just had a 90 minute massage. I'm no stranger to massages and typically get them on a regular basis. But, this has never happened before ever. Frankly, I found it a bit off-putting. The problem was right as she is beginning my massage she informed me that she gave her cat allergy meds and "lost in the fight" therefore, her hands were scratched up and she would be wearing latex gloves. I'm a professional worker and if I can not perform my job as it is required. Then, I take the day off or give my clients the opportunity to express their opinion and ensure they are okay with my handicap. While, I appreciate the hygienic care taken. It was really gross! I couldn't stop thinking about being massaged in "Latex". Ewwww, creepy and still gross. I wish, I had been made aware of this predicament when I scheduled my massage with this masseuse (just yesterday). At the very least discussed how I felt about her using latex gloves before the session. I know, I should have spoke up and even rescheduled the appointment. I tend to accept whatever is dealt to me and then later realize how much it really does bother me. My recommendation going forward is please give people the opportunity to make an informed decision about how they want to be treated when you're business involves providing services. The first time I visited the East Cobb location was for a couples massage and it was great. Oksana and Angel R were AMAZING, but this review is for the East Cobb receptionist, Abby. I called this morning to book another couples massage but received the voicemail so I left a message.I Called LaVida back an hour and a half later and Abby answered, so I told her my name and that I would like an appointment this Saturday if at all possible and to my surprise she already knew what I was calling about because I'm going to assume she heard my voicemail, but never called back. I asked if this Saturday was available and Abby said no. I ask for the next available Saturday appointment she advises next Saturday, so I ask if Oksana is available and with an attitude she said "uh no not for a couples massage." Not once did she ever try to assist with setting up an appointment or even remotely suggesting other days/people. Abby was very rude and acted as though I was bothering her. Yes, Abby, we can hear your hard, annoyed huffing and puffing over the phone before you answer our questions. This was the worst service and worst massage I've ever had. I paid for an hour couples massage with my husband and we only got 40 mins... My husband asked why wasn't it an hour and the receptionist didn't care and said take away 5 mins to get dressed before the massage and 5 minutes after that's 10 mins plus the 5 mins u took to fill out forms. I was so annoyed ! The worst part was that the massage itself SUCKED!! They charged extra for aromatherapy that they did not tell me they were going to use before we started. I had an hour and a half scheduled. My massage therapist, Christine, worked over an hour just on my arms....which are visibly bruised as of the day after. During this she proceeded to tell me how just before my appointment she had a couples massage that was just like mine, whatever that was supposed to mean. ??? And after my appointment she had a 2 hour client. Was I supposed to feel bad for her because she was "working" so hard? ??? She barely touched on my back which I had indicated as needing attention on the form they have you fill out before your appointment. She didn't even make it to my legs or feet and kept talking about how much time she spent on my arms and that she needed to see me back in two weeks to "finish up". WHAT? You had 90 minutes and you wasted 70 of those on my freaking arms!!! I am literally bruised on my forearms from the abuse she gave me....no, that I paid for. NEVER NEVER NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE!!! First off, the sheets smelt odd, like smoke, and there was a fan blowing so loud in the room I could barely hear the spa music. Over the years I've had occasional massages, in different cities, so I'm no expert, but not a complete novice. Tonya was my therapist at LaVida, and she was simply terriffic. Pressure was just right, she paid attention to where things needed work, talked some, but not too much, a very nice, warm person. LaVida itself was quiet, comfortable, professional. I went online and booked an appointment. LaVida called me the next morning asking me for my credit card information in order to book the appointment. Excited and off to our 6:30 appointment we drove around the corner to the Kennesaw location. Once we all arrived the lady said we were at the wrong location. I apologized and explained we just moved here and that I must have gotten confused. The front desk lady called the Lower Roswell location to let them know what happen. The lady said that it would take a while to get over there because of the distance but also the traffic. I asked if there was a way to be seen at that location or if we could reschedule. She advised me I would be charged a $25 fee per person if I cancelled. I was rather aggravated that they didn't understand that this was a clear mistake but she said if you go now we may get a 30 min massage. My husband said well let's head that way and we'll just do a 30 min massage. I'm thinking we will be charged for a 30 minute massage... We drove 45 minutes away to get there to get a massage for 30 minutes and they charged us full price. I am so disgusted with the service we received and this is just plain bad business. I could understand if we had just said we were late or had some other excuse but we have North Carolina drivers licenses and we were at the Kennesaw location. Clearly we weren't lying but in this situation I was so upset the three massage therapist received ($0.00) from us. I felt bad because it wasn't their fault but I paid $119.00 for three 30 minute massages.
