While we have an extended warranty through the company that installed it, they were backed up for a full week just to come out for a diagnosis. After reading several neighbor recommendations and Rod's own helpful replies here on Nextdoor, plus his excellent five-star reviews on Google and Thumbtack, we decided to give him a call early Saturday evening. Rod answered immediately, scheduled us for Monday between 12 and 2, and even offered an earlier appointment when a slot opened. His initial service call was just $79 (for reference, the company we bought the dishwasher from charges $129 before parts or labor). Rod was personable, professional, and clearly an expert in his craft. He diagnosed the issue right away and explained that our problem stemmed from a known design change in our dishwasher model. Though it was no longer under manufacturer warranty, he located the replacement part that same day and returned to install it the next--at no extra charge beyond parts and labor. He took the time to explain every step, followed up the next day to ensure everything was running smoothly, and even shared useful dishwasher care tips and checked our disposal drain hose while he was here. Rod came out $79…read moreservice fee to tell me it's the water pump leaking.... order part couple days later came out to replace part but couldn't get my instrument panel off, pounding on my machine to the point of brushing his hand and prying with a screw driver scuffing up my machine. He couldn't understand what the problem was... take out "4" screws and it comes right off. Told me I would have to get a new instrument panel "$250" because he would have to bust it off.... or call GE to fix it. Well it's 5 screws and it comes right off. I ended up fixing it myself.... but turns out it wasn't even the drain pump leaking it was the drain hose from dispenser up top. I asked for a discount or refund for the inconvenience and scuffing up my machine and on top of that, it wasn't even the water pump.... he said he can't do discounts.... I think I was at least owed something....1 star for showing up every time he said..... but that's about it!

I wanted to add my 5-star+ review for Thompson's. Our fridge broke down on a Sat. We lost SO much food during the night! We called another company with "six locations and a coupon" who said they could fix it "Tuesday". On Monday, they called and pushed that back to Thursday. Their voice mail said if we didn't call them to confirm this, they wouldn't come out, even then. That's when I found Thompson's. I called at 10am. Got a call back within 15 mins tops. The tech was here less than four hours later. He knew the problem right away. Had the exact part and we were off and running less than one hour later. He really knew his stuff. Thanks Dave! As an FYI, be sure to call their number on their Yelp page and not the service number on their website. I know that whenever they can, they will take care of your appliance repair the same, business day. We are SO happy with Thompson's and would recommend them to anyone. They came out and charged $120 for a service call, and said he took Cash App, Venmo or cash, and then told her she needed a part that cost $286.79 and said he would return. He did NOT return and she had to call them repeatedly and finally got ahold of what I assume was the "boss" he said he needed the money for the part before he would come out, she sent the money. A week goes by and she hears nothing, almost another week goes by and she calls them back again, and asks when they were coming back because her refrigerator was not being able to be used. She finally asked to just be refunded for the part because nothing was fixed and he ghosted her. So she was ripped off almost $300.00 and nothing was done. She had to call another repair service and pay for the part again. I wouldn't recommend these scam artist to my worst enemy. USE THIS COMPANY AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!

First they sent one guy to inspect the machine, and then when they actually came to service the machine, they sent another technician. That wasted even more time AND MONEY since the second guy would have to inspect and determine his course of action. After they repaired one part of the unit, they determined that the compressor was the problem. So we had just paid about $600 dollars for something that wasn't even the problem. We then had to buy a compressor and pay for that installation. That was another 1500 or so. Maybe more. The compressor was about 1300 and labor was who-knows how much. We asked them to make sure the temperature range could be set for 10-20 degrees F(to decrease energy costs). Oh yeah. keep in mind this all happened in June of 2009. They said that setting the temperature would be NO PROBLEM. It was quick and easy. NOPE It's not mid-March of 2010 and our freezer STILL is not temperature controlled. The unit CONSTANTLY runs and they said that that was normal. Right now, it's running at about -1 degrees when we asked for a range of 10-20 degrees. We've had several return visits and they haven't fixed a single thing. We've paid 2100 so far and they're still asking that we pay them 900 more for the failed return visits. After 2100 dollars, we're left with a walk-in freezer that constantly runs and doesn't keep a solid temperature range. But it's a good thing that it still freezes, right? We come in the store every day worrying that it's going to give in and we'll have to spend at least another 1500 repairing it. In this economy, people need a reliable service that will boost confidence and that is worth the money. Spend some quality time looking around. Maybe this place is good at those simpler jobs and holds up well. For now, I don't suggest using them for freezer repairs. In our experience, they just want your money even when they were telling us that they provide "quality service" and that the important thing to them is that our unit works perfectly.
