There's a lot to consider and think through on a first purchase (safe, cleaning, gear, etc.) and she gives it to you straight (what you need, don't need, luxury, and so on). Additionally, after doing some shopping around town and online, i was really pleased to see that this company is not 'price gauging' during a period of high demand. I really enjoyed my experience at Law Weapons & supply. My husband purchased the 5 hour women's self defense class groupon for me as a christmas gift. He immediately registered me so I had no problem getting into a class. Our instructor was very knowledgeable and friendly. When it came time to learn the self defense techniques we had a few more guys from the shop come help so we could all get as much out of the class as possible. I couldn't wait to get home and show my hubby what I learned. The reason for 4 stars is because there was a scheduling issue and we weren't able to complete the shooting portion the same day. They were very helpful when it came to reschulding. The range portion was great. I got to meet yet another instructor and he also had a good sense of humor and was very reassuring through the whole process. I will definitely go back. read more

Bought 3 weapons from them so far and traded in a couple. A very pleasant experience. Pricing on the purchased weapons was very fair as well as the trade allowances on the used weapons. I could probably surf up cheaper prices on some things but not by much. I'm much more interested in having a nice gun shop close to home that will take the time to treat you like a valued customer, offer knowledgeable advice about weapons (even if the advice is to steer clear of something that they have for sale) , and support what they sell with a top notch gun smith that doesn't take forever to turn around a service. read more

I try to support local business when possible but was suprised when i took a 22 rifle in for a cleaning. I was quoted 65$ but when i picked it up 3 days later was told price was 90$. I asked why so much mor & owner said it was very dirty. REEALLY. I asked him if it would have been less if i brought in a clean gun for cleaning. This review solely on a conversation I had over a phone. I was looking for a new Glock 19 to purchase with Glock Blue Label program, and I like to support the local B&M when I can. First I call to make sure they had the gun in stock. A man answered the phone and tell me to hold, he had to check if he had any in stock. Sounds good right? He lays the phone down and is "supposedly" checking for next 15 mins. The phone was on mute and on speaker phone so I can at least do some work while waiting for him to answer me back. After 15 mins, I hear the phone getting picked up and they hung up! Classy customer service right? So being a nice guy I am, I call back and a girl answers this time. Again, I ask about purchasing the Glock 19 through Blue Label program and she literally asks the guy who put me on hold for last 15 mins and he tells her it's on back order for 6-8 weeks. What? You couldn't tell me that before wasting 15 mins of my time? Or are you just pissed that I was looking for a discount that Glock has for Military/Police/Fire/EMTs? Not only you lost my business for good, which sucks because i would've bought another glock this year and probably would have taken the CCW class here as well. And yes, if anyone is looking to purchase Glock pistols through Blue Label Program, do not use this place. Ray O'Herron on 75th in Downers Grove actually is cheaper and better. read more

I agree with Dylan's comment of the people working here being dishonest. My experience with this company is similar. I had received a groupon for an 8-hour firearm class in december of 2012. The expiration date on that groupon was for March 18th. I had called on February 15th to make a reservation for the class before the groupon expired. The person I spoke with said that they had a bigger response to the groupon than expected and that there were no open classes before the groupon expiration date and that he would schedule me for May 8th. I asked about the groupon and he promised that they would honor it beyond its expiration since they were not prepared to have so many people calling about it. Sure enough, I went there yesterday, showed up early for my reservation and the person working the counter said that if I wanted to take the class, I would have to pay an additional $165. I explained my situation and even had any E-mail from February showing my reservation for May. The man said no and I walked out. I took the entire day off of work and took a train out from Chicago just to go to this class. Wasted my time and lost a day of work. This was a terrible experience and by no means do I recommend anyone do business with this company. read more

Very small establishment with very minimal selection of firearms. Not many choices so I asked about a particular handguns availability. The young lady at the counter took my information and told me she would follow up with me in regards. I have not heard from her nor am I confident she was actually going to follow thru with assisting me...which is fine I will simply take my business elsewhere. In any case, not that many guns for a gun store. Ammo selection was minimal too. So if you don't have a good selection of guns and you don't have an ample ammo selection and customer service is suspect. Absolutely love Law Weapons. Have done everything from CCW, gun smithing and bought quite a few firearms (Pistols, Rifles etc)... They have great customer service and warranty everything they sell! They're also a great help when it comes to picking out accessories, scopes, mounts etc and will mount everything for you in house! If they don't have something in stock, they can get it for you within a week or two tops (from my experience as long as it's in stock from their vendors)! I also purchased a Groupon for the 4-hr class. I too didn't realize that classes fill in so fast. My Groupon expires Feb 21st and I didn't call till Jan 30th. I attempted to contact them by e-mail but didn't get a response. I called them by phone and they said I have to register online, bring the Groupon on the day of class and they will honor it. I registered for the earliest class available which was 3 months away. I was having second thoughts on the day of the class and thought about not showing up. I just didn't know what to expect. Although hesitant, I attended anyway and couldn't be more pleased with the whole experience. My review is solely for the class as I didn't really spend much time in the store with the staff other than when I briefly signed in for the class that day and purchasing the goggles and ear muffs after the class. Our class instructor was Marty who is a marine corps veteran. The class was very informative and he kept it really fun. Like Jasmine's review, I learned so much from eye dominance to techniques in shooting, breathing techniques, different gun types and sizes, how to choose the right one for you, safe handling, care and cleaning, and how to safely and legally transport them. There was a 2-hour break between the class and the firing session which was held in Article II in Lombard (not Villa Park as mentioned by Jasmine), about 10-minute drive from Oakbrook Terrace where the class was held. Be prepared to stay around the area for the whole day, in case you live far and have other commitments to attend to that day. I purchased my safety goggle and ear muffs at the Law Weapons store but you can rent them in the shooting range as well. Marty was very encouraging and helpful to everyone while we were shooting and made sure that everyone gets to have his/her turn and opportunity to practice shoot. I agree that Jasmine's review covered just about everything that you should know and be prepared for when signing up for the class. I truly loved the whole experience and would recommend it to anyone I know interested in shooting. Lastly (and I should have written this in the evaluation we gave after the class), I wish they have included in the material packet an outline of the topics discussed. Marty used great slides and I wish they were printed out and given as lecture handouts. It would be nice to be able to go back to them for reference. read more

I just got done taking the 16 hour concealed carry classes and I couldn't be happier! I am ex-military but had next to no experience with pistols. I felt very comfortable in both classes and didn't feel I was being treated differently because I had less experience. I got some GREAT help with my firing stance and some awesome tips on how to improve. The information was very good and easy to understand. With the open format of the class it was easy to ask questions along the way as well. I should also mention I purchased my pistol from them and got some discounts towards the classes because I did so. Walked in an hour before closing just to check it out. All the staff were smiling and happy to talk with me, even though I only came in for gun oil. Feels bright and comfortable inside. I thought my review was going to be good , but I feel cheated by the owner of this store. I went in to there and end up buying a Sig p226, filled out paperwork, etc. The next day I called and told him I had to cancel the transaction, too which he informed me that the $500 down payment was going to give me store credit, which I told him I just wanted my 500 cash back, to which he then tells me that he can only give me back 300, because the gun was now used, never used,& he would have to sell it as used, but the gun is isn't mine until my 72 hour wait& to see if my background check has gone thru. Now I wasn't informed of the store policy not returning money back and given store credit, second, he claims he's going to have to sell the gun as used, because technically it belong to me, & he now has to notify the state of Illinois that I no want the gun. This guy I believe just took $200 , and I believe he's full of BS, I would of given him the $200 if I would of been made aware, but nothing was written on my invoice or told about canceling, less then 24 hrs ., had gone by, I purchased the gun on@ 1400 hrs on Monday, and next day by 10am notified him about canceling! I guess he make extra money by taking peoples down payment without telling them before hand. I hope you proceed with caution before buying anything from this business, Zero ! read more

I bought a quality rifle here and loved the great the great customer service. If you're a shooter or a novice any other gun store in the area treats you like you don't know anything however here the service is the opposite they listen to you and accommodate you, it was a great experience. Best part a out buying a firearm here is they are guaranteed for life! And they mean it I thought there was a problem with one of my guns so I brought it in and came to find out that the sight I put on caused the problem. the gun smith fixed it and I wasn't charged anything! I know where I will be doing all the rest of my firearm shopping. They sell quality products at fair prices and have great customer service, if your thinking buying a new or used firearm this is the place to go if you live in the area. read more

Not everything is bad with them, but this experience has gone horribly wrong and no amends were made. Good: I was able to purchase an AR lower that I wanted via the phone to hold it till I could make the trip to pick it up. Good: I went to their store for the first time, over 45 minutes away, and they have an incredible stock and friendly and helpful staff. Filled out my paperwork and got my foid and license copied and was ready for pickup. Told them that because of their hours and distance away I would be back on the following Saturday to pickup the lower. One week goes by of utter excitement. Bad: I arrive at the store today with my son to pick up my receiver, and I am subsequently told that the lower I purchased and did paperwork for was gone. Bad: Then I was told that they only had a more expensive receiver and that I could go with that one but I would be responsible for paying the difference. I then proceeded to tell them that I bought the previous one with my birthday money and that I didn't have the difference. I was told sorry, but she didn't lose it and that it was my choice, "pay more for the other receiver or get a refund". In my business if we make that kind of mistake we pay the difference to make it up to the customer that is wronged. I made my decision based on my current money and the choices presented. I'm very disappointed that this worked this way. On my way home, I became aware that a receiver may be out there that I filled out paperwork for and called to discuss what needed to be done. I spoke with the same woman as before and I was told that because I didn't sign and complete paperwork I did not need to worry. Then she proceeded to tell me that she was sorry and that she didn't do it and that she tried to make it right. I explained that charging a customer for their mistake is not making it right. This is what we call bait and switch in the business world. Basically I gave them 2 chances to make it right and she refused to do any more. Even for 17.50. Sorry for the length, but I felt that everyone in the gun community deserves to know both the good and bad experiences. I don't hold ill will for what happened but I am very disappointed in what followed a mistake of huge proportions on their part! read more

I'm pretty new to sport shooting and only have 6 or 7 guns but am getting the bug. As others have suggested the in-store selection is limited. That being said however, they have a large network of suppliers and can get almost any gun desired. Their prices are competitive, if not the lowest, and they offer a 10 year warranty on most sales. Most important for me is the fact that Robert is an expert gunsmith. His rates are the same as most manufacturers without the shipping costs and he is always willing to work with a customer to provide not just the service desired but the service needed. All the people at the store are pleasant and helpful, and I will continue to use them for all my special firearm needs. read more

Both sights glowed as they should when I dropped them off. Tritium lamp was damaged by law weapon on instalation along with the chip in my slide. It gave me more confidence. I went to a different store before coming here and they expected me to know everything about guns and weren't helpful at all. Law weapons has great knowledgeable people working there. I didn't feel like an alien there at all, and buying my first firearm was a good experience because of those guys. They will answer any questions you may have. I also took 8 hour classes with them. Great experience. They gave me a lot of knowledge. It makes me more comfortable with my firearm. I would recommend those courses to anyone who is looking to gain basic knowledge. They go over all the basics of a gun, how to safely handle it. This is a gun shop that also offers firearm and self defense classes. It appears to be family owned and operated. The young man who helped me out was very knowledgeable and professional and had said, "let me ask my sister" at one point. I thought that I heard the sister call to her mom at one point as well. The young woman who helped me at one point (the sister) was really nice...she too was knowledgeable and very pleasant, polite and helpful. Basically, they were all great people to deal with and the prices are very fair. I bought a Groupon and signed my uncle and I up for an 8 hour firearm class, which was taught by Martin W., a veteran (and former police officer?), who was very knowledgeable and quickly gained my respect. The class was fun and informative and will build up your confidence in handling firearms...definitely not boring. I have since signed my wife up for a woman's self defense course to take place in March...I'll make sure to let you all know how that goes. read more
