I stopped in today to pick up a couple of pistol rugs. There were two salesmen behind the counter and only one other customer in the store, not counting those using the range. One of the salesmen was assisting the customer with his firearm purchase. The other salesman was sitting behind the counter eating his lunch. He completely ignored me, despite me standing there with the pistol rugs in my hand and ready to pay. He never bothered to acknowledge my presence or ask if I needed help. I know that he saw me because he looked directly at me. When he finished eating he got up, threw his plastic fork in the trash and walked in the back while still never interacting with me. It was like I was completely invisible. Finally, another sales person came out from the back and asked if I was being helped. I said no, finally paid for my purchase, and left. I wonder what the store owner/manager would have to say if he reviewed the surveillance video. read more

The ban on cell phones and foreign language isn't about racism jerks. It's to stop Straw Purchases and protect their FFL. One Straw Purchase, tracked back to the store and the license is gone. I've been in the store when a couple came in and the woman was supposed to be buying the gun. But she kept talking to her boyfriend as he pointed to guns for "her to look at" in Spanish. It was pretty obvious that she might be buying the gun for him. When they asked to see both FOID cards they left immediately. First and last time I'll visit. I think the irony is lost on these gentlemen that they claim to support our constitutional rights but don't permit free speech (1st amendment) in their establishment (see photo). A real American establishment would welcome the diversity that makes the country the greatest in the world. I understand protecting straw man sales but other shops don't restrict speech in this way. Other than that I sold them a pistol. One gentleman (dark hair) was professional and courteous. Other gentleman with beard butted in our conversation and insinuated that I had overpaid for my firearm. Should have kept quiet as the first gentleman was handling assessment well. Anyways. Disgusting place for an FFL transfer. The employees are decent besides the shipper, Kyle, who was nothing but a condescending dbag. He has purposely held my FFL return to vendor and has refused to ship claiming there was no return label despite myself being copied on said return label. The vendor confirmed 4-5 return labels were sent at my request (the 3-5th were requests with myself copied) and yet the shipper Kyle continues to claim he hasn't received the label. kyle has held up my return for more than a month out of spite and required the vendor to call and ask for their gun back. Pathetic employee and image of the store. Absolutely shameful and disgusting condesending behavior that's ruined Rinks' reputation and image amongst my group. It's no wonder this dump continues to get terrible reviews with people like Kyle employed here. read more

OK, I once give this place five stars, but I keep it real. I was in there today and was treated disrespectfully, with a major condemnation & condescending attitude. I approach the counter with my phone showing the online ad to the employee, asking if they had this particular shotgun, he looked at me rolled his eyes and said 10 days. I was like excuse me, 10 days. so I assume he has to order it. I said do you have anything like it in the store, very rudely he said all I have is what is behind you on the rack! in the process of me looking my friend asked about a gun that was hanging on the wall, just general questions, my friend said can I see it he said do you have an FOID card my friend said no, his reply was no card , no see no touch (I get that that is every place) but the major attitude my friend was given was unnecessary. my friend asked another question about the gun. He said it's not for sale. Very rudely again. My friend said where is it made, the reply "a damn gun manufacturer". Excuse me! I proceeded to give him my FOID. he examined it like a gynecologist doing a pelvic exam. My card is the new conceal and carry combo. Which he should be familiar with. He literally tossed it back to me. Walked around the counter unlocked the shotguns as I touched it he grabbed it and said I have to hand it to you. I examined it it was a 20 gauge. I handed it back to him, and I touched the 12 gauge, he exclaimed again I have to hand it to you very rudely. I picked it up and I said wow I am only used to 12 gauges, there is a major difference in the weight. he said no kidding there's a lot of material and it's a bigger gun. No shit Sherlock I was just making a comment, for the gun in the ad I asked them approximately, a ballpark figure on what the price would be out the door with tax included, he said he had no idea what the tax was very rudely again ! my friend was with me I figured out the total price: no I admit they have many five star reviews, and I was one five years ago they gave them this, I purchased several guns from the store in the past so has my family. I go there for the local business, the well used to be customer service, but no longer, I truly understand why people are now going to bass pro/Cabela's, and other gun dealers, I figure if I'm going to pay good money to get treated like shit I will go visit a dominatrix! on today's visit there is only one other customer in the store they were not busy. The reason for his attitude was I was looking for a gun that was on sale online from their website. I was not spending thousands of dollars so I guess I was not worth his time, I am a white guy from Naperville. My friend was an African-American from Plainfield both in our late 50s early 60s. he treated my friend in a manner of antebellum,. Which is totally unacceptable. He treated me with disrespect based on who I was with or the amount of money I was spending . if I spend $1.00 or $1000 the customer service should be the same . Take your business elsewhere. I've never had high expectations or very good previous experiences. This place is run by some guys who have never taken business school. Not that that matters for a successful business but what these simpleton roughnecks fail to understand is that customer service exists in all goods and services from the businesses that we choose to patronize. I don't expect a 5 star red carpet treatment when I come here but I would appreciate a "hi how are you today?" Or "sir, we are very busy at the moment but you are important to us as a customer and we will be with you as soon as we can". The scenario that I experienced, where I entered the store interested in purchasing a new firearm. I was never greeted by anyone, so I started browsing at what they had laying around for sale then took a seat for 10 minutes and when other customers started walking in I was asked by another customer if I was next and I said "I don't know I've not even been spoken to yet. Upon saying this an employee rudely replied "I have a lot of stuff to fix" I said I can understand that you are very busy but I'd like to be acknowledged at the least. I'd also like to say that I've classed up this review concealing the things I'd really like to say. The sad part is I really love supporting small businesses and local shops. I work for a small family owned business centered around customer service and hospitality for high end products and I can't fathom treating my clients the way I was spoken to. Visited for my carry conceal class. Small place, very cramped, but huge selection of guns, very friendly service. The range is super hot fyi during the summer, but I like how the bathrooms are right there and a little snack machine. It's out of the way for me but if you are in the area, stop in, it's pretty nice in there. read more

What could be better than having lunch with a fellow NRA member at Hooters in LaGrange IL on a sunny, brisk, Saturday afternoon? Shooting at Rink's Gun and Sport in Lockport IL first! What a great afternoon! One family was shooting off to our left, and a few couples were shooting off to our right. As always the patrons of Rink's are polite and a pleasure to shoot next too. Everyone there was following all the range safety rules so there was nothing to worry about. All we had to do was set up our targets and enjoy our afternoon. The staff at Rink's was very friendly as always and they got us set up with targets, ammo, and a lane in just a few minutes. The only thing they need to work on is a greater ammo selection. They were short on some brands and missing the variety you would expect at a gun range. A trip to Shoot Point Blank in Hodgkins IL was necessary to fill up on ammo because of this. However, the selection of firearms for sale at Rink's is very good. The range at Rink's is modern. It's well lit and the ventilation is great. There was no gun powder odor in the place at all. Their target system is digital and will automatically put your paper target at the distance you select by simply tapping a screen. You can also select meters or yards from the same display. I brought my 9mm Beretta 92 and 9mm Glock 43 for this shooting event and my friend brought a .22 semi auto. There is no range time limit at Rink's as with Shoot Point Blank in Hodgkins. Having to leave a lane after an hour of shooting and returning to the line is not the way I like to shoot. Once I get started, I don't like to stop until I'm done. We shot for a few hours and decided to call it quits. When we stood in the parking lot my friend and I were talking about how gun owners have been getting demonized in the press because of the recent Parkland Florida shooting. The shooting was horrific, yet demonizing gun owners and the NRA because of what a psycho had done to those students was unacceptable to us. My friend noted, "These people who shoot here and other places are not bad people, these are family people and we all had a nice time." Coming away from Rink's my friend and I confirmed our belief that the press is nuts and that gun owners are getting unfairly treated by our beloved media. Naturally the media doesn't get us down, we just find their anti-gun, anti-Second Amendment attacks to be irritating. These attacks will not break our spirit, they will only make us stronger. I didn't interact much with the staff beyond a small purchase, but man that sign out front saying no foreign languages hit me like a truck. That is literally illegal discrimination and I'm floored they haven't had to take it down. I haven't purchased any guns here, but since they've upgraded the range this is a great place to shoot. The lighting, ventilation, and electronic target retrieval system are so much better now. Yes it's 50% more to shoot now than it was, but it's worth it. They have a decent collection of guns for sale given the size of the store, and the store has been upgraded as well. The people behind the counter have always been friendly and helpful in showing you anything they have. There's a "Mega" gun store that's closer, but I would rather shoot here. read more

Damn the new range upgrade is awesome!! I think they just opened it up today 10/19/16. Everything is automatic now, even hanging the target is much easier and holds on better!! Lighting is much clearer and air quality is great now!! Huge improvement and the people are always great as usual! Very nice and helpful people I'll attach some pictures in a minute! I have the range at 355 4 minutes from my house but I go to rinks because they're prices are realistic. Lower price to shoot means more ammo! And they don't charge you by the hour like other places do. Can't recommend any other range ! read more

The customer service here is fantastic 9/10 times but occasionally there is an older heavier set man there that is incredibly rude, arrogant, and misinformed. I'd suspect that man just enjoys his job so much he forgets he is at work and requires a certain amount of customer service. Their prices are descent and if you buy multiple guns at a time they will work with you on pricing and make it actually quite a good deal, comparatively. I don't like how their nice wood stock guns are often stacked up against one another. I was going to buy a beautiful double barrel wood stock shotgun but the wood had scratches and gouges on it due to its storage, so I passed. I have bought maybe 10 guns from them and I will always consider them first before buying online as I value a local business. They can often get pricing the same as buying online after considering shipping and transfer fees. I enjoy my time there and have great conversations with the staff. These are wholesome honest people. Their range leaves me with black snot for days. Granted I'll shoot ~500 rounds a time and spend hours there. Probably not the healthiest option. Their range pricing reflects the lack of air quality though. This would be a 5/5 hands down if it wasn't for a couple bad encounters with that one employee, if they handle their guns better (not piled against wall), and if air filtration of range is better. read more

Service is hit or miss here. I have had great help, but also incredibly rude service. Brand new guns may be in piles with dents/scratches in the wood. I bought a used .22lr bolt action here and upon shooting it I found that it fires when you close the bolt maybe 3/5 times and was told it is sold as-is, but something so catastrophically wrong should be supported. The main issue with this place is the range. If you shoot at their indoor range you will have black snot for days (depending on how long you stay to shoot). Their range rules are very reasonable unlike many indoor ranges. Pricing for the range is very low, but that's for a reason. Overall store prices are average. Again, the ventilation, lack of, is incredibly unsafe considering lead and carbon inhalation. I quit going there for the range on that basis. read more
