Vivian D. at Range USA in Naperville was an excellent instructor. My husband and I took the four-hour basic safety and handling gun class, and we were both very impressed with how thorough and positive she was throughout the entire course. The class covered the basic parts of the gun, the parts of a round, proper handgun grip, stance, loading a magazine, racking the gun, unloading the magazine, clearing a jam, finger position, the four universal rules while handling a firearm and being in the shooting range, and learning the "compress" position while waiting to shoot. What stood out most to me was how strongly Vivian emphasized safety. She really drilled it into our heads, and I appreciated that so much. Even though there were about 12 people in the class, Vivian made sure to give each of us personal attention. She took the time to help everyone find the correct grip and stance, and she had us practice repeatedly in the classroom so we could enter the range feeling confident. She was very patient, encouraging, and great at correcting mistakes in a positive way. I especially appreciated her help with me personally. I had thumb surgery a year ago and struggled with loading rounds into the magazine, but Vivian was patient and guided me until I was able to do it successfully before we entered the range. I thoroughly enjoyed taking this class with Vivian and loved her approach from beginning to end. I would absolutely recommend this class to anyone looking to build confidence, learn proper handling, and get a strong foundation in firearm safety. I have been a member since this range opened. in the passed there was delay in service but today was exceptionally poor service. I waited 15 minutes to be waited on for a lane to shoot. There were 3 staff members standing around talking. when I was waited on I was told my waiver had expired and to fill it out again. I got out of line and filled out the waiver. when I returned to the line again the only one in line and had to wait another 15 minutes. Reloaders should be aware of the brass policy. The range officer stood over me while I picked out my .380 shells from a pile of brass. It's unclear how they expect us to differentiate between the range's brass and our own. I want to shoot, scoop, and get out. Ironically, the money I save on brass is spent at the range anyway, so I'm not sure what they are gaining. They might lose a few dollars in recycled brass but risk losing hundreds in revenue from loyal customers. I suggest finding a reloading-friendly range with a relaxed brass policy. Another key point to showcase the business ethics of this place. They have a 3-month mandatory membership period that they neglected to mention face to face. In my case this range is not a fit for me and they said sorry you are locked in for 3 months and we posted that in several places. Not saying they are wrong; just know the kind of business they are running. Be mindful. That was my mistake. read more

Make sure you have your FOID or a government issued ID on each person. Boyfriend and I have been here multiple times and only needed to show either of our ID/FOID's but never both. Apparently, it's always been a rule that each adult needs the ID, which is absolute garbage. Rules and policy training needs to be more consistent here. This business is unethical, they take in used guns without test firing to be sure they work(which is company policy to test fire). Resell them under the promise they do work, only to bring the gun straight from their counter to their range for the gun not to work, they then try telling you that you must have done something while it was under your ownership to create the malfunction of the gun. While selling the gun back to them(because they dont accept returns, even on product they misrepresented as good and usable condition) they never once test fired the gun before they bought it back from me. And not even 24hrs after buy back, they set the broken, unusable gun in their sales case for used guns. Even contacting their corporate office of the matter and them confirming this was against company policy and it was in fact unethical to knowingly sell a broken gun that was never tested, it still is available for sale after a week of corporate and store management knowing this issue. Definitely have to recommend this place. I ordered a Gen 3 Glock 19 online during a sale. When I went to pick it up, I decided that I would rather have a Gen 5 instead. They redid everything I needed to do to upgrade and allow me to walk out with the Gen 5 instead of the Gen 3. Also explained the difference in the various ear protection devices and did not steer me towards the most expensive one first. Ended up buying one for a few dollars more than the one I thought I wanted at first and am glad I did. Plenty of choices for ammunition and the salesperson explained the difference between the different brands and saved me some money with an unadvertised buy 4 get 1 free deal. They even made my wife comfortable by talking to her, taking the time to explain gun safety and allowing her to hold them. She doesn't have a FOID card but is now considering one. read more

These guys refuse to help. I sent a frame here for a transfer. They claim they can not log the frame in from me. Which I worked at a FFL for years and we logged in guns and frames from people every single day. Anyways they claim they can't do the transfer. I had to send them a return label to get the frame back and they can't give it to USPS so I can get my frame back. They're literally holding my frame hostage. I called and offered to pay for shipping to have them ship it back. At this point I have to report the frame stolen to the ATF and go that route. Shoot Point Blank offers a lot of different services, with most of which I've had personal experience, and all are top-notch. Let me start with the range, which I visit on a monthly basis (but only once per month, thus I cannot really justify a membership). It is probably the nicest range I've ever been to. It's clean, well lit, well managed, has good air flow, and provides all of the base-line amenities one could ask for when going shooting. You can get a lane by the hour and a tv screen clearly shows you just how much time you have left. Additionally, every time I've been there, they don't overload the bays so you don't feel like you're on top of the next person. Also, it can get crowded at certain times so I've tried a combination of calling ahead and/or going in at off-times. Only once have I run into a HUGE line and decided to try again another day. In addition to my monthly range visits, I have taken a class at Shoot Point Blank and found it to be very well run. The instructor (Kris) was friendly and knowledgeable and kept the material informative and moving. In fact, I'm already looking at the other class options and topics they offer. The one thing I did find odd was the "no guns in the classroom" rule. I mean, think I get it, but at the same time it's confusing. Speak with any sales person on the floor and they won't by shy about their pro-second amendment stance (for obvious reasons). But, when it comes to the classroom there are no guns? Especially given the fact that I was taking the concealed carry renewal class... to not allow guns to that course (of all the others) is ironically comical. Finally, I have purchased a gun through them (bought a gun online, had it sent to them, they managed the paperwork and background check, etc.). It was actually a very painless process and they make it very easy. The downside is the $75 charge, but I got a good deal on the gun so I guess it's a wash in the end. Anyway, I'm thankful for the service provided and it's good to know for the future. Over all my visits, including my recent trip to the range, and experiences I have nothing but good things to say about Shoot Point Blank and will continue to visit them in the future for shooting and education. This is a clean and well-stocked facility with fair prices. Staff are friendly and professional. It's easy to reserve a lane and they have a good selection of firearms. I do wish the rentals were cleaned more often so it would be easier to gauge how well the guns actually shoot. I've fired several of the rentals and did poorly (even with highly-rated guns) but when using my own guns (which I clean after using), I do much better. I also wish they would space us out better instead of bunching everyone close to each other; some conversations are annoying plus I also hate to bother other people when using my rifle (which can be pretty loud). read more

This shooting range recently opened and it's modern and clean! I came on a Friday night and there were about 20 people in line. I thought we wouldn't get a lane with that many people, but the line moved quickly and we were shooting in no time. The staff is nice and friendly. You can only make reservation if you have a membership here, otherwise it's first come first serve. There must be at least one person with you that carry a FOID card. Their prices are lower than some of the other ranges I have been to and they also have daily specials: --Monday Senior Day (55+) $9 half-hour handgun lane --Tuesday-Ladies Day $5 half-hour handgun lane --Thursday-Police/Military* $9 half-hour handgun lane --Friday-Date Night $15 handgun lane for 2 ( 1 Hour) You need to pay for a $3 liability waiver that is valid for a year to shoot here. Hand gun lane is $12/half hour and $18/hour. $5 for an additional shooter. You can also rent handguns for $10 with unlimited change out so that you can try out different ones. They have 20 lanes, 10 for hand guns and 10 for rifles. However, they'll offer you a rifle lane if the hand gun ones are full. Each lane is 25 yards long. They were rude I walked in with the intention to sell and purchase. I was greeted by no one I kept asking was there a check in spot. When someone finally greeted me I let them know what I wanted and he referred me to Nely and she proceeded to asked why did he point at her, he said she want to sell. Instead of coming to the customer I was right there looking at here she spoke with and attitude to another employee that all her registers are close and sent me away to another store that was closed. This location started out well but seems to have declined. I've purchased a few firearms, accessories and ammo, but the counter staff is not as helpful as they once were. I recently became ill and could not attend a class, they refused me to reschedule and simply kept my money. Lastly, I'm not liking some of the clientele lately, younger kids with poor technique and wild aim. One shot off my target holder from the next lane over! If you're going to buy a membership, do it on a pre-paid card! I've had nothing but problems getting membership cancelled for 3 months now. I've sent many emails, had calls from corporate and they still can't get it right. Do yourself a favor, get a prepaid card, put some money on it and do your membership from it. The person on the range (Tim) will come up behind you as you are firing your weapon screaming STOP-STOP-STOP. At that moment your first thought is someone is injured...not the case he just wants to tell you that your not holding the weapon correctly (according to him). As a concealed carry licensee you are aware of the proper handling a weapon. If you don't kiss his ring he will let you know his job other than sweeping up casings...he is in charge. I would like to say this used to be my favorite store. But unfortunately the new employees don't seem to know what they're doing. There lost and then start to do other things when you are seeking for help. I had to wait 1 and 1/2 hours to get my firearm, also the fact that I had to wait 4 days until I called to see what was happening with my firearm to see if my background check came back clear was absurd. I also would like to add that there new policy is bs, how is it that a non us citizen can not purchase a firearm there? This store has created a new low in customer service. Did not know that was possible. Visited this store in Naperville yesterday and my experience was horrible. Let's start with the overall staff. There was a line of a few people with a lower count than the employees, yet there was a line. They were all (with the exception of 2 of them) doing something else than helping the customers. Waited patiently inline for my turn with 2 of the employees that were working. Once one of them was free to assist me I inquired about the gift that was offered with my premium membership I signed up for on 12/2022. I know that was a while ago, but I have been sending them $26.00 a month since then. The person who assisted me did not know what to do so he sought the manager (not his fault, he was nice). One the manager arrived the is where the customer service fun really began. Man-bun I will call this person as I never got their name (not personal, just do not have a name). Man-bun came out to tell me that they would not be able to honor that offer from 12/2022 as if they allowed it people were getting over on them. At this point this manager had not entered my account info into any system. So, they decided without any background information on me to outright refuse my request and accuse me of scamming them. I will admit once this transpired, I got a little heated. When inquiring as to why they had not bothered to pull up my information or utilized the scantron in my initial membership confirmation email which I did supply, the manager stated that he could make a call and ask corporate, I Guess? I then provided the math. Having been a member since 12/2022 up to this point, having payed $360.00 in membership fees and never utilized any discount or usage, and the item they offered when I joined had a retail value of $60.00-70.00, would it not only make sense to lose that $70.00 instead of me cancelling my membership today. They could have offered me anything, even an hour of free range time (which would cost them next to nothing). But no, the manager's response was "if that's what you want to do". I inquired as to why they made this decision and the hard no answer without acquiring any of my information or making that call in advance and the manager once again stated that they could make a call to escalate this. At that point I only had one option but to ask them to make that call. And this is the cherry on top of this sundae. When I then asked the manager to make that call, he stated and I quote: "I will, I have already asked you this three times" as if I was causing the delay in resolution when he had offered zero assistance up to this point. At this point after waiting just a few seconds I told the kid who initially waited on me to forget it. By then I was too angry in a place full of strapped people and decided the best course of action was to cut my losses. Interesting enough my second request would have been to buy one of the used Beretta P92's they had in case, but we never got to that. No lie I was ready to overpay for it to have it sooner. Note: Full disclosure I visited this store during the lockdown. At that time in Illinois FOID cards were taking extra time to renew. My card was expired, but the Illinois State Police had a workaround. You show your DL, your expired card, and show them you log into the ISP website and that your renewal was approved you were good. Their corporate office added extra infringements to your 2nd amendment rights by stating that was not good enough. If your FOID expired, they would not sell it to you. So, two visits and $360,00 since 2020 and nothing but a hassle. I implore you do not patron this establishment. They will not suit your needs without trouble. read more

We got there at about 10 am when they were just opening up. There was a small line of about 6 people but we were able to get in right away for some practice. We also looked at their fire arms there which I think they had a pretty good selection. Not many of the 22's that I prefer but if you want more power there's a good selection. Store was clean and well organized and the range was just as expected. Good head gear is so important as some were shooting some pretty powerful weapons that have a huge boom to them. There was only one cashier, who was helping people check in to the range and that took a long time because none of them had eyewear, hearing protection, etc. I waited in line behind them 5+ minutes. In the meantime, two other employees were in the corner, behind the counter, apparently doing nothing: one was leaning on the counter and on his cell phone, the other was on the computer; and they were chatting between themselves as well. Neither offered to help me while I waited in line. When it was finally my turn, I asked the cashier if they would price match Bass Pro's ammunition price. I'd just come from there and they were out of stock, and it was a $5 difference in price. The cashier asked one of the guys in the corner, who said no. I said never mind, then I don't want to purchase the two boxes any longer. I then approached the two guys in the corner to ask which one was the manager, and they pointed at each other. I asked why they pointed at each other, and they said they're both managers. I asked what their price match policy was, and they said they offer price matches, but it has to be in stock at the other store being matched. I asked if I called if a different Bass Pro location and they had it, then would they would price match it? Then they added a new condition, it has to be "local", whatever that definition means. I asked where I could find their price match policy in writing, perhaps on a sign or on the website, and one of them flippantly responded, "You'll have to find it on our website." I left unhappy and without purchasing anything. After being unable to find the price match policy on their website as promised, I contacted corporate customer service to inquire and share my store experience.
