He did not take my full medical history into account when treating me and as a result I am now having to navigate issues related to poor treatment and management. Due in part to incomplete informed consent. I also experienced him as dismissive when I asked about a suspected genetic disorder stating "it would not change treatment" but according to my new doctor it changes things significantly. I thought this was a LGBTQ+ safe and affirming practice but that only seems to apply to some parts of that population and not others... He pushes treatments that are inline with harmful dominant cultural norms rather than affirming patients. My life is significantly worse and has been for years because of the poor care i got at this clinic which is made all the more disappointing by the exorbitant cost. Joshua is the doctor that finally broke me and had totally destroyed my trust of doctors and the medical system writ large. We were flying back from San Franciso and they were booked solid, but the staff understood the urgency and gave us the first cancellation later that afternoon. Dr. Houman saw me immediately; quickly understood the issue at hand, personally swung into action, and ten minutes later had the situation under complete control. He wrote a prescription, gave me exact instructions what to do and what to look for over the next few days, and scheduled a follow-up appointment a few days later. A week later, the issue is in the rear view mirror and I have urologist for life. Dr. Houman is down to earth, very personal, and clearly cheering you on for success. On two visits I overheard patients mentioning how dark it is and on both occasions, the front desk rep indicated they notified the building management. It's been 2 months and it's still dark. None of our appointments have received a "text reminder". I'm a calendar fanatic so this does faze me, but if the front desk says we'll receive a reminder text and it doesn't happen, someone dropped the ball. I gave the front desk rep a heads-up and she explained "my co-worker handles Dr. Ahmed's text reminders; I'll let her know." I'm not confident that's going to happen. Not pleased with the phone system, it's rare I can reach a real person on the first try. I do leave messages, and have received a return call, but most other occasions I end up calling again hoping to win the live person lottery. Button up the details and one could get over having to pay for parking. There's a Redondo Beach location that would be my first choice (free parking too!), but it seems our doc doesn't have RB hours.
