Scammers. The good part is, that they accept debit cards and they are nice and helpful at first. As we didn't use a credit card, we were charged a $400 deposit. Guess what. After we returned the car safe and sound, the deposit was never returned and the company ignores our messages. After reading the other reviews here, I see that if I even try to talk to them, they would always come up with a reason why would they keep the deposit and they have charged even more, so we should be actually happy to have lost only $400. Just don't. It was that bad. They wanted us to walk a mile with a baby and our suitcases to get a ride to the airport.

I was happy to find these guys after Avis informed me, after a 1 1/2 hr wait, that they couldn't rent me my reserved vehicle using my Debit Card. LA Xpress picked my group up from Avis and took us to their office. I had been told $675 for the 3 days for a 3-row Honda Pilot, but later noticed I had been charged $795. When I questioned this, I was told "Probably Tax". That's a lot of tax! I was asked when I would be returning the vehicle, and I said 11am on Monday. She told me they don't open until 12pm (so don't believe the hours listed on this site). She said to bring the car to The Parking Spot by the airport, park wherever I can, put the keys and ticket under the seat, take a video of the outside of the vehicle including parking spot #, and send it to her by text msg. While driving the vehicle around LA, we all noticed a wub, wub, wub sound coming from one of the wheels/tires. I reported this as it scared the kids and I didn't think an $800 for 3 day rental should sound like that. I was told "It's safe. Only has 9,000 miles on it." After returning the vehicle as instructed, we caught our flight home and I later noticed an additional $30.42 charge on my card, so I texted them. I was told it was the Parking Spot parking fees. I cannot believe they passed that expense along to me, when it was not my fault they opened at such a late time on a business day (Monday). I came to visit LA for a 20 days vacation. I've searched almost every rental agency in LAX. I was not eligible to rent a car since I am under age 25 and don't have a credit card. But I'm glad that I found "LAXpress van rental". The agency not only provides van rental, but they also rent compact cars to clients. So I decided to rent a compact car for the first 10 days. The staff member was very kind and helpful. They agreed that I can rent the car with a debit card. I was off to the road after 15 minutes of the rental process. It was very efficient especially since I was starving and exhausted from the long flight. The condition of the car was nice and clean too. After the first 10 days of rental, I decided to rent the car for an additional 7 days since I had great experience with "LAXpress van rental" so far. On day 5, I wasn't careful enough that I accidentally popped two tires at the gas station. I contacted the agency and they resolved the situation very quickly. I received help within 30 minutes after the incident. Two staff members came changed the tire and picked me up. I went back to the agency and they exchanged another car for me. I was liable for the incident. Since the insurance didn't cover tire damages, everything was out of the pocket for me. However, I truly appreciate "LAXpress van rental" that they took good care of my mess. I'm impressed with how they resolve the situation efficiently. Anyways, I highly recommend this car agency to anyone who's in need of good customer service and high quality cars. I reserved and rented two 12-person vans from this company. A few days before the pickup date, I received a call confirming the reservation and inquiring about how we wanted the vans setup: Did we want any benches removed for cargo? Did we prefer captains chairs to bench seats? On the date of the pickup, the vans were ready. They were clean, they were setup exactly as we needed them. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The worst car rental ever. I tried to Rent-A-Car . Because I'm a tourist I have been overcharged for the rental. When I realized It I called to clear the issue, but because it was a pre-paid card for traveling they told me I can't do anything about it. After I did the research I found out that I could have had the same car for the same time with the same insurance for only $700-$900, and I paid $1700. This place is HORRIBLE. When we first rented the car, the old gentlemen did not give us an inspection, he just gave us the keys and walked away. We drove it fine for the 3 days we had it and returned in the 4th day. The guy said we scratched the circled part in the photo below and the rest was already there from the previous renters. We had to pay a $150 damage fee. He had no photos from the car before we supposedly scratched it. I don't understand how the whole side was scratched but ONLY the circled part was us. IN BRIEF: All around positive experience. Without hesitation would use again! FULL STORY: I needed a cargo van to move items to/from my storage facility. It appears that the majority of companies in LA that specialize in van rentals are centered around LAX, near the intersection of Century/La Cienega. Surprising discovery that the cost of renting a cargo van is cheaper than renting a COMPACT from Enterprise. I could not believe it myself. I do not understand at all the economics to make that even possible, but it's a benefit for me considering that all too often I found myself moving around objects too big to fit into my car. I do my due diligence when quote shopping. Here's a tip when getting a quote: make sure to ask whether it includes tax + fees. Also inquire about included mileage. The cheapest quote I found was from AVR Airport Van Rental, which I believe is the largest van rental company in LA. If you spend a few minutes to read AVR's reviews on Yelp you'll notice a pattern of one star reviews that are genuinely frightening. I think that Americans tend to gravitate towards the "biggest" corporate style companies, whereas I'm the opposite. I prefer to support local, family-owned businesses and not just because of some idealistic world view. The result is more personable customer service that gives you a more gratifying feeling at the end of the day. The second best quote I found was from Mike at LAXpress. Mike knows how to take care of his customers! He matched the price of AVR, provides more than double their mileage limit, and even threw in an upgrade to a 15 passenger van without seats, which is larger than typical cargo vans. Plus it's a Chevy, which I prefer because they handle better than Ford E150's. Checkout of the van was taken care of by Bruce who was super friendly and hospitable. The van drove exceptionally, no problems whatsoever. Having the extra space of a bigger van came in handy. I rented a van last year to take the family to Vegas for the holidays. I was very happy with my experience. I dealt with Bruce last year, and we were very satisfied with the deal and rate he gave us. Hence the reason I once again asked if we could have the same rate for our Christmas Holliday in 2014. And from past experience, he asked me to make sure I made a reservation at least 2 months before our travel date( due to being sold out) . I forgot to make the reservation. I just called and not only did he remember me, he gave me a free upgrade and a free GPS rental for the duration of our rental for being a repeat customer. The only thing that could be better is if they were open a little later, maybe like 10ish. Overall this is the place to go!! read more

Had a reservation for 3 months at one of the major rental places...Never knew I wouldn't "qualify"...still don't understand how since I've rented there a half dozen times in 2 years. Anyway, Everyone was sold out so I tried calling every place I could. I resorted to a van rental not knowing they had much more than vans available. When I called, they were quick to figure out my needs and get me the best rental (Medium sized SUV) they could. They sent a driver to pick me up (almost 3 miles away). Smooth and easy. and because it's a smaller place, no wait or traffic. I even saw convertibles on their lot. Friendly and professional. Couldn't believe the negative yelp reviews and felt obligated to leave a great one. I even got the vehicle at about a 20% discount from my original reservation. Horrible experience. Booked a reservation for a minivan online 6 weeks in advance. Once I arrived they could not provide that car and offered me a 12 passenger van instead. They could not comprehend that it was not an even replacement. The van is 6-8 feet longer and will burn 2x as much gas. We were picked up at the airport and brought to a seedy location, as you can see in the picture, which was their "sister location" and offered the car we booked but with more expensive terms. When I objected they refused me service and locked my luggage in the car. Left me stranded and waiting with my four kids in an unsavory neighborhood. Finally after waiting for them to finish with other customers, they open the car, I retrieved my luggage and walked about a mile down the road to another van rental business that helped us out of this horrible experience! read more

We returned our rental car with a full tank of gas, which was the agreement. When we returned, they asked for a receipt proving that we filled it up within ten miles of the drop-off location. We had, but we didn't have a receipt because no one had ever told us that we needed one. They charged us $11 for this. They do a credit check with debit card...I was denied of course because of BK on my credit.... Dollar clerk makes a call to LA Xpress....A person comes pick me up...We rent for 4 days @$320 plus additional $500 deposit....I bring back the rental 2 days early to get refunded $160 back to my card... The worst car rental I have ever deal with. Using Uber is much better than deal with rude lier. They charged me for toll road and parking tickets which are already paid by me and they know that. I asked them to send me the details for these tickets more than 10 times and they keep evading (he said I don't have time to send the details) but he has time to charge me for nothing. I send him email and he received my email and he confirmed that when I called him yesterday. He said the email will be sent by 2:30pm and nothing is received. read more
