Horrible experience with the manager. I had a concern about the safety of my financial data due to their outdated policies. I called my bank and they agreed with me, NEVER sign a blank carbon swiped receipt and hand it over. It's like giving someone a signed blank check. The manager repeatedly talked over me (woman that I am- I must not be important enough to listen to). I had to get into a shouting match with him to get my concern across. His staff member, A, was very helpful and understood my concern. I understand policy, but when it is outdated and puts MY financial information in a vulnerable position, I have to stand up for myself. Use another company, if possible. Last year I rent a car at Avenue car rental After 8 month I got this letter from them Here is what happened they give me the small car I take the car and on my way to home and the car was shaking so I asked them to change the car to the better one so they told me to come back tomorrow to change it to different car so I went back next day the car wasn't ready I had to wait 2 hours but still no cars for me to exchange so I told them I am going to go difference renter car place . One guy come up to me his say his the owner since we don't have small car to rent to you he will rent me a minivan at same price as small car I told him ok and he will send me all the paperwork which I didn't get it after 8 month he send me a latter to pay the difference make sure Whoever renting car from this Avenue car renter make sure you guys have all the paperwork P.S I know I used the car 5 days more than I supposed to use but the billing I got is way more than 5 days this Avenue car rental is Worst place to rent a cars read more

Terrible! There is a reason that his place received low rating not only from me. Got a rental car through a body shop. The body shop told me that I would get a camry or similar. Actually overheard that the body shop lady asking them to bring a camry or similar. Well, I was given an altima because all camry or similar was not available. First of all, I have never seen a rental car company offer LOWER grade car when the specific class of car is not available. All of the company I dealt with gave me an UPGRADE if they do not have a right size car. I was busy and had no other choice so took it. Great, key batteries were almost gone so I had to take the key out and place near dash to start the car with push button and car smelled terribly bad. The guy from the rental car made me to sign a contract saying the it is a non smoking car and there would be a $150 fine if I smoke. What the hell.... I called them and let them know, but the answer was they simply have no car to switch..... Too Bad!! Worst customer service ever!! They should have told the body shop that they did not have a car available, but they didn't. They were just busy renting whatever car they have available... I should have returned the car and looked for other rental car company at that moment. I kept calling and two days later they finally were able to get me a Sonata. At least it was not smelly. I drove out of their parking lot and went on to freeway. My gosh.... Passenger front tire was making screeching noise.... Yes, I had waited for two days, and it was their only car available... I basically gave up on them and used the car for about a week. Finally, I got a call from the body shop that my car was done, so I went to the body shop and the body shop let me leave the rental car there. They told me the guy from the rental car will come and pick up the car. So I left the rental car and drove out with my own car. Today, I have found that the rental car company charged me $11..... I called the body shop and they apologized and told me that they will contact the body shop and find out what the charge is about. Unbelievable..... My 2 cents.... Avoid this place at ALL COST!! You will be much happier with any other rental car company.... Worst rental car company of my entire life. read more

Rental car places usually suck a lot. Not this place. I was literally in and out. I usually go to enterprise or hertz and every time I go it's such a hassle-- they put a bajillion dollar hold on my credit card and they always have impalas or not very well known cars without Bluetooth or back up cameras. They always try to get me to get their insurance and are usually really pushy about it too. Not Avenue. The charge and hold were super affordable and the car selection was great! I chose between a Nissan and Hyundai. Sam helped me with everything and he made sure everything was perfect! He was so helpful and was not pushy at all--he even caught some scratches on the walk around that I did not notice! They didn't have any cars with a back up camera when I first went there but he promised that he would get some in next week and sure enough I'm going in tomorrow to exchange cars. Avenue Car Rental was absolutely no help. I was in my first car accident. I called a tow truck and they moved the rental car to a different body shop than the one I clearly mentioned him to send it to. There was a bunch of confusion that happened afterwards. The owner of Avenue Car Rental, instead of contacting my insurance company and dealing with the matter, contacted me and told me to come in for a meeting regarding this situation. At that exact moment, I was heading to a body shop where my car was being repaired & ready to pick up. I told him i'd head over to him after I pick up my car but this is what he said, and I quote..."No, you cannot get your car until you have dealt with this matter first." I was shocked because I had thought the insurance was going to deal with it, but I didn't know better because it was my first accident. All I wanted was to get my car back, so I went straight to avenue rental. I meet with the owner of avenue rental and he tells me a bunch of things. It was a bit overwhelming tbh. He said that I had to "...go to MZ collision (where the tow truck towed it to), negotiate with them to lower the price, pay for it and then send the receipt to your insurance so they can reinsure your money. If MZ doesn't want to negotiate and they make you pay for the full price, tell them you're taking them to court because the tow truck towed it to the wrong location and you shouldn't be paying $1780 to get the rental car back. Most likely, court won't take in the case because it's a small situation. You should call your adjuster about it." I wanted to call my adjuster but for some reason, they were a little eager and impatient to wait. It was as if they wanted me to just go to MZ instead. At that moment, I was stressed. I was new to all of this and I was just so overwhelmed with everything. He also mentioned that "They are bad people. Since you're young, they will try to take advantage of you, make you pay and take your money. So when you negotiate a price, pay for it, get a receipt and give me a call. I will send a tow truck to tow the car. After that, you can go and pick up your car." So, I go to MZ collision where they were keeping the rental car. I was distraught. I was kinda over it and did what the owner of avenue rental told me to do. The ppl at MZ were confused because what I was telling them wasn't adding up. The rental car was insured so they didn't understand why Ave Rental didn't contact my insurance in the first place about the removal of the rental car from their property. They said that the body shop and avenue rental had called them earlier and said someone was going to come and pick up the rental car today. Then all of a sudden a tow truck guy shows up. if I recall, the owner of Avenue Rental said after I paid and called him, a tow truck would come. I did not call him. I did not pay them so why were they here????? In the end, Avenue Rental tried to take advantage of me. They were not allowed to hold my car hostage. I was not supposed to pay anything because they were supposed to call my insurance company to handle the matter. I should not have been in this situation AT ALL. If it weren't for the good ppl at MZ Collision, I think I would have been screwed over by Avenue Car Rental. This is my first and last time I'll ever experience something like this. I've made and learned from my mistakes. I just want to warn everyone to be careful. Ppl will try to make it seem like they have good intentions, but they don't. read more

I needed a rental while my car was in the body shop and I couldn't have asked for an easier or better experience. I wanted to use a local car rental and Avenue Car Rental had the perfect car for my needs and the guys who run this place are so awesome. This is my third time using them and I would highly recommend them over using a big chain car rental company. They even pick up and drop off! Yay! CHECK YOUR MILES! This place is also inefficient and dirty. Waste of your time and they try to rip you off. I rented a Penske Truck from this place. They played around with the mileage and added 16 miles (which is $16). When I noticed after paying, instead of taking care of it they told me to call Penske customer service. That was another ordeal. Also, when I arrived to pick up the truck I reserved, there was only one associate and he would not get off the phone to take care of my reservation, and I doubt it was official business because it was in Korean. Also it took forever to return the truck. Inside, the place is a mess. If you use this place for location convenience, make sure you check your mileage and take photos. And check it before you pay. Also be prepared to spend at least 20-30 minutes to pick up and return your truck. Terrible. read more

They will lie to you and avoid your call. What ever you do do not give them any Credit Card numbers unless u want to see charges popping up. Been to this place to rent a car for a quick trip to Las Vegas on my friends suggestion. I was a loyal customer to hertz until I found this place..The rates are really good and the person there was really cordial.. dont find that kind of service from big places..neither the rates. They got a good fleet and brand new cars..They even got a merc smart car..which would be fun to drive around the city to attract attention (for right reasons ofcourse)..If you are looking for a great deal on rental (good) cars..this is the place to go..unless u have money to throw away read more

ive been renting cars and recommending avenue car rentals since i found their location in pasadena. i needed a car to get to a funeral in vegas and after running into some problems with hertz i was very happy to run into them. i got a discount on my rental and the guy was amazing. they closed their location in pasadena and moved to crenshaw where they have new personnel. yesterday i went to get a car rental for the day since i was told on my previous rental that i would get a discount on my deposit. when i arrived there were two asian guys who i had never delt with befor. i told them what i had been told about the discount i would be getting and they were not only rude but unwilling to help me out. i needed the car to get to the airport that same night since i was flying out of town. and i quote "was flting out of town"... they treated me like i was a crook and a liar. both the men were so rude they might as whell have thrown my debit card and id at my face... i told them i had been missled to believe i would get a discount on my rental and they just told me to leave that they dont know anything about any other employees offering discounts. i missed my flight because all other car rental locations where closed in my area and i was unable to make last minute arrangements. never again will i be doing business with these people. ive been with them since the first location opened in pasadena and i feel sooo dissapointed. read more
