    Chicken Tikka
    Chassidie L.

A solid Indian restaurant in New Haven! I've been wanting to try this place after a good friend recommended it. First off, I loved the tables! A super subtle detail but all of their tables have different spices and ingredients built into it which add to the vibe of the restaurant. It was also very cozy and good for groups and families. The service was also great! For food we got Tikka Masala, Dhaba wala kadai Chicken, and Cheese Chili Garlic Naan. The meal came with a side of rice. All the food was delicious! A little too salty for my liking though. However, the flavor was there. I wish the naan was a little thicker but if you like think and crispy you will like this one. The Cheese Chili Garlic Naan was fantastic in flavor with a good kick. My fiancé ordered the mango lassi and thought it was good! Tart and not overly sweet. Tasted like there were real mangos in there.

Food was really tasty, service was exceptional with a cozy ambiance. Kudos to Reem our server and the chef for some quality food. The one thing that was different was the Kulchas. It wasn't made in. Kulcha style.

Chili chicken was top tier. Laal Maas was very spicy - they take their spice seriously. Good quality naan for the price

    Mango Kulfi

Our server at Lazeez in New Haven was very attentive and able to share personalized recommendations. We ended up getting lamb biryani, Hyderabadi gosht bahar, chicken korma, garlic naan, and mango kulfi for dessert. Everything was delicious. The naan had a light, crispy texture with an exceptionally bold garlic flavor. The lamb biryani was full of seasoning and quite spicy. The chicken korma had a delectable sweetness, and the Hyderabadi gosht bahar landed right in between on savoriness, spice, and creaminess. Had a wonderful meal and can't wait to be back to try more of their menu.

My friends and I had the pleasure of having dinner here on a chilly Friday evening. Our appetizers were the Avocado Bhel Puri, Paneer Tikka Sliders, and Chilli Chicken, all of which were super flavorful and delicious. For entree, we ordered the Paneer Tikka Masala with their mouth watering garlic naan. The wait staff and ambiance were also delightful and I will definitely come back here again! @aqeeltoberia

Service was prompt, and the food is great. Has a lot of options. It is right off of I-91 S making it a convenient location. Of note, there is street parking or parking in a paid lot if you're driving in.

This was my first time having Indian cuisine and WOW. I've always heard mixed feelings about Indian food but, you have to go to find out how YOU like it. I can't believe I have been missing out all these years. Came here on a holiday after adventuring around town and seeing everything was closed, Lazeez was not! We were seated promptly and taken care of the entire time. I ordered the chicken tandoori, my partner got the hyperabadi gosht bahar (goat on the bone). Both were incredible. It was full of flavor, tasted fresh, and smelled delightful. For dessert, our waiter gave us a surprise dessert letting us know we would love it and we sure did. I forgot to get the name but I believe it was ras malai. You can see the crushed pistachios and the saffron on it. It was lightly sweet (perfect for me, I'm not a huge sweets person) and so moist...amazing. If you are in the area, you NEED to come.

    Lamb Vindaloo

I'm a huge fan of Vindaloo (lamb preferably but chicken is ok) and I've eaten various forms around the world. Amsterdam's Hummingbird is still #1 but this place totally unseated my #2 outside Tokyo. My wife had chicken Tikka and that was lights out too. Anyone giving this place less than a 4.5 review is either working at a competitor or doesn't know squat about Indian food. Bravo Lazeez! Take a victory lap because you earned it. I have had my #1 and #2 Indian places for 15+ years and you unseated one of them!

Lazeez Indian Cuisine is an authentic Indian restaurant that opened in New Haven, Connecticut in September 2020. It was founded by business partners Mohammed Ayub and Aman Kant. The name Lazeez means "delicious" in Urdu. Ayub had previously been the general manager at the nearby Indian restaurant Thali for 10 years. Kant was a regular customer at Thali while it was still open. Once the former restaurant closed in 2017, the two decided to go into business together and make Ayub's long-term goal of opening a restaurant a reality. Ayub wanted to put a modern "foodie" twist on classic Indian dishes. His concepts are turned into realities by chef Bishno Sammar Khadka (also formerly of Thali). Rounding out the restaurant team is Amit Jaiswal (yet another former Thali employee) who serves as the manager-server-bartender-delivery man. Recently I was fortunate enough to be invited to an exclusive local foodie tasting event at Lazeez. Ayub talked to us for a while about the different dishes that we would be sampling as well as his vision for the restaurant. Jaiswal was also there to serve as our bartender for the evening and he was quite the character. We started off with some small plates which included Avocado Bhel Poori, Chilie Crab, and Dal Kachori. Bhel Poori is normally prepared with potato, so preparing it with avocado is Ayub's Modern foodie twist on the classic street food. From there, the dishes kept on coming to the table. Some of the other delicious dishes we sampled included Dilliwala Butter Chicken, Gobi Manchurian, Hakka Noodles, Langarwali Dal, Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Biryani, and plenty of Naan. My favorite dish was the Chicken Tandoori. Not only was it very flavorful but the presentation was perfect! To drink, I decided to do as the Indians do and try some Indian lagers: Kingfisher Premium Lager and Taj Mahal Premium Lager. Overall, all of us had a fantastic experience at Lazeez. I will definitely be returning!

What a delight! Delicately prepared Indian fare simmered in aromatic sauces. Each dish has a unique flavor enhanced by natural ingredients. For example, in the chicken korma, you get the flavor of ground cashew that is just delectable. The ambiance is casual chic and even though the dining room is not huge, we got a sense of privacy. The service is prompt and friendly. The servers wanted to make sure we were happy with our food and checked in with us repeatedly. The dishes were cleared the second we were done and the leftovers packed. While dining there, I noticed a lot of people coming in for takeout, so that's another popular option for customers. There's plenty of free street parking and a lot across the street that's free after hours and on weekends. I always worry about parking when dining in New Haven, so that's reassuring, I hope you get a chance to try Lazeez; you'll be glad you did!

Solid Indian food in New Haven! Portion sizes are pretty much individual. Nice and clean ambiance - could be considered a little bit dressy. Shrimp were plump and fresh.

This might be the best Indian food in new haven. I was blown away by this new place. Everything I had was so delicious. I highly recommend the gobi Manchurian. I'm excited to try more of the Chinese Indian fusion dishes because there is no other place here that has similar things. I really recommend trying out this place. The staff was so nice and the service and prompt.

Highly recommend! This place is easily gonna become a regular. For our first time trying Indian food, we were all impressed. From the moment you walk in, the atmosphere is great. We were greeted immediately, servers were attentive and always ready to help. We did call ahead to make reservations for a party of 6. The recommendations from the server were the best. Food was delicious to say the least.

If you enjoy the flavors of Indian food as well as one of those quick service, hot chicken restaurants you probably would enjoy Hot Murga. The chicken sandwich comes in five spice levels from no heat to super hot. I got the standard hot, and it has some kick, but it wasn't overpowering. Then again I enjoy spicy food. I also ordered their spiced mac & cheese. Again, not spicy at all, but flavorful. Also a good portion as I have leftovers for later. I had my food delivered, but this establishment is close to the Yale campus and street parking can be a bit tricky on Howe St. and around Broadway. I've been inside of the space once when it was a different restaurant some years ago, it's not a large space, but I'm pretty sure comfortable if you decided to dine in. If you ever find yourselves at a crossroad between wanting Chick-fil-A and Indian food, this would be a great alternative.

I'm sure it looks better at night, for it wasn't anything special during the day. The velvet couch we sat on was nice though. Unfortunately we didn't arrive until about 15 minutes prior to lunch service being over. Hours posted for lunch were until 3:00, however upon arriving there was a sign on the door saying they stop serving lunch at either 2:30 or 2:45 (don't remember as again this was mid October). We felt bad walking in there because there was only maybe 1 or 2 other tables in there still, however they said we were welcome to sit and have lunch. We said we'd be quick. We really shouldn't have done this because it was clear they wanted us out quickly. The menu was a bit confusing. "Choose one protein, one sauce, and one bread OR vegetarian dish and a bread (Plain Naan, Garlic Naan, Tandoori roti)." Ok? We ended up splitting a Chicken Tikka masala and the cucumber appetizer (don't remember what it was called). He forgot to bring the cucumber app until we were done with the entree and we didn't realize it was a dip. We ended up taking that home. The last ten minutes of us eating our waiter was staring at us and clearly wanted us to wrap up. Again, I wouldn't come here close to 3:00 for lunch. That was a mistake. As far as the food, the Tikka masala could have used a tad more flavor (we asked for it mild but could have bumped that up a bit) and I didn't care for the cucumber appetizer. It was minty? and spicy. Overall I feel that House of Naan is better for New Haven Indian cuisine.

My friend got the chicken biryani and I went with the chicken tikka masala and can I just say how impressed I was that our food stayed warm the whole entire time? Like it was still steaming as we packed it away, I was so impressed with that because there's nothing I hate more than lukewarm food being brought out to me. Regardless of that, my masala was incredible and I was sad I had to stop myself so I could save room for dessert.
