Had an AMAZING dinner at Lazia on a Sunday night. We had a reservation, but definitely didn't need one. Our service was amazing - she was kind, knowledgeable and made great recommendations for us. We ordered the focaccia, a salad, and pasta and everything was a 10/10. I am excited to go back and try other dishes! Great spot for a special occasion dinner.

The parking was a little bit of a pain but we expected that. W brought a cake for a birthday and they charged us $25 for bringing it which was fine but they didn't cut it or anything like that. We had the antipasti Insalata which was very good 10/10. The lasagna was pretty mediocre on taste, but appearance was beautifully plated. We also had the chicken parm hock was very good and beautifully plated. I tried the limoncello cocktail and it was also 10/10. We did feel as if it was a touch over priced but we'd go back again! Also the inside was super cute and a vibe in itself!

Lazia is such a great date night spot in KC! Or a girl dinner for an Italian Meal Share evening. Always start with a bottle of wine, if that's your jam. The portions were quite generous and perfect for sharing. I do wish "family style" restaurants would offer half portions for parties of 1-2 so you could try more options and not get stuck with chosing only 2-3 things. Regardless, the staff that brought out each course explained the ingredients that got us excited to dive in. Quite a lovely spot with seasonal rotating menus!

When I visit another city, I usually research and check out new places to eat. However, I have a friend who is a foodie content creator in KC so I reached out to him instead to meet up and also recommend a restaurant. One of the spots he suggested was Lazia so I made reservations right away. The food and the vibe....t did not disappoint! The restaurant is located inside the Crossroads Hotel. We had a bit of difficulty finding the entrance, but to get to the restaurant, you need to go inside the hotel. Don't let the doors outside of Lazia mislead you. Everything we ordered was delicious! I had the Wagyu Carpaccio and their Capellini. The Wagyu was flavorful, and the crisp fried chips complemented well with it. I knew I had to order the Capellini as soon as I found out it was made with squid ink pasta. After trying all of my friends' pasta dishes, I'm going to have to say that the Capellini and the Doppio Ravioli were the two best pastas on the table. Great vibe and atmosphere! The service was good! WE waited about 50 minutes for our main dishes, but the server made sure to check on us and apologized for the delay. I didn't get a drink, but they were kind to comp drinks from the bill for the wait. Street parking can be challenging on busy days so I would come earlier to find parking if planned.

It's taken me a while to write this because I was so disappointed. I was initially so excited to go here with our friends and the menu looked so delicious. It was very overpriced for the portions you received. Some of the items we ordered we thought would be hot but were lukewarm. We also noticed that our table was visited less frequently than the ones around us. It seemed that if you order a bottle of wine, you'll get more attentive service. Our server took our order and then checked back in with us once. We met all the other staff though because a different person dropped off almost every plate. The place itself was very stunning and it looks like a place that should serve amazing food. It was a bit loud though even though there aren't a lot of tables in the room.

Sucked!!! The service was awful. Our waitress walked by our table and would act like she didn't hear us. Our lasagna was so burnt. The over all experience deserves zero stars but they won't let you do that. There is far better Italian restaurants in KC with much better service

I took my wife here last year for her birthday and it was incredible. We got 5-6 dishes to share amongst the two of us. Each of them were some of the best Italian dishes we've ever had. This has been our favorite Italian place in Kansas City. Highly recommend and I can't wait to go back!

We arrived on time for our 6:15 reservation and we were seated about five minutes later after being given a complementary apéritif. Lazia has a very impressive interior! The tables are far enough apart that everything is nice. This gives it a sense of intimacy and you don't have to listen to what the people next to you are saying. I love the layout and decor of this place. The star of our evening was our server, Debbie! She was a delight from start to finish. She never rushed us. She couldn't have been more lovely. We started out with focaccia bread. It had this kind of onion jam which was delicious. My wife didn't care for it, but I loved it. And next, we ordered the salad with spring vegetables and guacamole and burrata cheese. It was kind of weird, mushy and spicy. Neither of us loved it. The next thing that came out was the squid ink pasta. The flavors were great! But the dish was lukewarm at best. I wish it would've been hot. It was spicy. Next, we had the vodka pasta and all of the same comments apply. Great flavors, spicy, not hot. By this time, I was irritated and decided not to eat it but rather box it up and take it home where I could heat it up. The wine selection here was lovely and we very much enjoyed Debbie's company and the information she gave us. Our dining companions had the lasagna which was also weirdly spicy. They also had the pork shoulder, which was good, but they said it wasn't as good as the fall version. For dessert, my wife and I had the mint chocolate mousse cake and our friends had the strawberry rhubarb tiramisu. Both were delicious. Lazia was hit and miss for us. It has the potential to be excellent, but tonight it wasn't. Almost everything we ordered was either too spicy or too salty, which kind of has me wondering if the chef is a smoker. It happens. I like spicy food, but both my wife and one of our dining companions found several of the dishes to be too spicy to really enjoy, which is kind of crazy at an Italian restaurant. I wish them the best.

My fav part of this meal was either the Doppio Raviolo or the raspberry tiramisu. This place has a great ambiance & a great choice for date night! We had the tuscany sangiovese with dinner (slightly chilled) & it was perfect. The seasonal primi pasta dishes were very yummy! The mussels were also very unique with a tomatoe-y sauce and crispy bread. Will be back to try more dishes.

Visited Lazia for a date night on Friday. While we had reservations, to our surprise, it wasn't too busy. This restaurant is beautiful and the seatings are well spaced. It was perfect for our date night, but also a great place to meet up with friends or a special occasion dinner. All our drinks (cocktail + red & sparkling wine) were delightful. Onto the appetizers, we opt'ed in for scallop crudo and panzanella. For both dishes, the lemon hugely overpowered all other ingredients. My partner liked the scallop crudo more than I did, but I thought it was too acidic of a dish for me. The panzanella was tasty, just wished for more greens. Onto the pastas, I rave about the Serpente. It came with a show, the dish was beautifully assembled right in front of us. All the flavors paired well with one another and the dish itself was not very fishy. My partner ordered the Mafaldine alla vodka which he noted was spicier than expected but good. The portion was much bigger than mine so we recommend ordering with a bigger appetite. The service was good. Overall we had a great night. It was a pretty good experience for the price. I wished we had ordered different appetizers to make this experience closer to a 5/5.

Had an amazing experience at this restaurant. Really great vibes for a date night or for a big family dinner. It is located in a boutique hotel and has Valet option available. The recommendations for food were amazing! Our server as well as the host created a wonderful experience!! We got the stuffed focaccia, the tuna crudo, the vegetables and the chicken parm. Really big portions and everything was shareable!

From the walk up, I knew this would be a wonderful dining experience. The crossroads hotel is a beautiful hotel and while waiting, we were able to take in an art show in the foyer by the bar. We were brought complimentary aperitifs before being escorted to our table. The restaurant is a little small, so you'll need a reservation. Our friends told us that it's in an old bank so a couple of the bigger tables were in renovated safe deposit rooms. The table was very comfortable with plush seating and gorgeous table and glass wear. The decor was posh, I loved the wine wall and the chandelier above the dish station. Onto the food! We started with cocktails. I don't usually get aperol spritz, but couldn't pass up the persimmon and saffron in a spritz! It was delightful, somewhere between sweet and bitter just as a spritz should be. Everyone enjoyed their drinks, the espressotini was to my liking without cream, and I liked the addition of Grand Marnier. Our server recommended doing family style and ordering several dishes to share, which we did. We wouldn't order the asparagus again, but it was tasty. The presentation of everything was next level!! We all liked the grilled octopus the best. We got a few pasta dishes to share, my favorite was the semi-spicy and honey-forward mafaldine alla vodka but the serpente stole the show! The server said it was "dinner and a show" which was totally correct. It was a gorgeous presentation of the fennel cream sauce with smoked trout roe. We got the chicken Parmesan as a main, but we all agreed the best part of it was the chicory Caesar salad. The dish itself was tasty, but as all chicken parm's tend to be, got soggy and it's just got a good eating experience. The salad though, oh my word I could eat a full one of those. I was so hopeful I'd have room for dessert, but we were stuffed to the brim! It initially felt like one of those fancy restaurants where you know you'll pay a lot to leave hungry, but the food caught up with us in the end! A delightful experience overall that I'd recommend anyone who's able to enjoy too.

I love Lazia for a treat-yourself dinner with friends! If you're looking for fancy, modern Italian fare and delectable drinks in a chic, low-lit restaurant, this is your place. First, you're greeted with a shot of the house-made amaro at the host stand. What else do I need to say? You're starting the evening off great. I highly recommend a reservation because it always seems to be full when I go. Lazia is located on the corner of Central and 21st inside the hotel, so when you enter the hotel on Central, you walk all the past the lobby and XR bar to get to the host stand. Next, you're escorted through a velvet curtain into the low-lit beautiful space. Theres a whole wall of wine bottles and historical details, like a big safe door and adorable tile flooring. You can't go wrong with any of the food or drink options. Hand-pulled mozzarella served table side! Life-changing perfect arancini! Beautiful house made pasta! It's an expensive meal, but it's well worth it! There's usually street parking nearby on weeknights, and there's a garage close by for the restaurants in the area. It would be a great staycation or vacation to get a room at the Crossroads Hotel, enjoy a huge meal, drink at the bar, and then walk right up to your room!

Does this restaurant have a few gluten free options?

    Yes I think so.

    Are there gluten free pastas?

I don't think there were any gluten free pastas. Most of them are freshly made and I believe included gluten.

I don't see a menu online. Is there a variety or is it just pasta? What is the approximate price point?

There is a variety. In fact we did not get pasta. I don't know what you mean about "price point," but it is not an inexpensive restaurant.

The dining room is small and cozy, and it has that welcoming neighborhood feel where it seems like everyone knows each other. Reservations are definitely recommended. On our first visit, we ordered carryout. The Roasted Goat Cheese (baked goat cheese with red sauce and oregano) had great flavor, though the crostini was missing from the order. The Lasagna Bolognese was outstanding -- easily some of the best I've ever had. Rich, perfectly layered, and full of flavor with the bolognese, parmesan béchamel, red sauce, and mozzarella. For dessert, the Limoncello Cake was bright and delicious, and the NY-style salted caramel cheesecake was dense and so good. We were impressed enough that we went back -- this time with reservations -- and dined in. On our return visit, we had the Swordfish with lemon caper butter, sautéed greens, and rosemary potatoes. It was cooked perfectly, with bright, balanced flavors and generous portions. We ordered the Lasagna Bolognese again (it's that good), and it did not disappoint. For dessert, we tried the Tiramisu, and it was hands down the best I've ever had. The imported cookies, mascarpone, espresso, and cocoa were perfectly balanced -- light, flavorful, and not overly sweet. The service was excellent, the portions were large, and the flavors were spot on across the board. What started as a convenient spot near our hotel turned into a place we'd absolutely go out of our way to visit again. Ragazza truly lives up to its reputation as a local gem.

I think sometimes, quite unfairly, restaurants can be a victim of their own hype. Living somewhat near here and seeing how packed it is, and how hard it is to get a reservation... the lore grew and grew. I thought this must be the best spot in town! And you know what? It is really good. Really solid, good service, and a good restaurant to check out. Put it on the to-try list. One area that didn't fully land for me was vibe-wise, or if I need to act my age, I could call it the atmosphere. It's such a small space (totally fine) but the back row of tables is essentially shared. Normally fine, but the night we were there we were right next to a large group that was super loud. Kinda dampened the energy, and felt better when they left. Basically, wanting date night but the energy here is more "brasserie" and slightly more casual than I expected. Anywho, the food was good. Loved the focaccia starter with a garlicky olive oil. The Italian salad was pretty good, a bit marked up on price, but pretty good. I had the chicken parmigiana and wanted to love it, but I'd say a solid four stars. Good, not great. The red sauce was very good, and the serving size is generous. Passed on dessert and headed around the corner for after-dinner cocktails. All in all, a great neighborhood spot where I feel the prices are a bit high, but I see most of the appeal. I thought this might be a regular spot in the rotation, but it's more likely to be an every now and again kind of spot.
