Hubby and I had a date night here a few weeks ago and it was one of the best experiences I've had. This place is clean, neat and the staff is super friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered the Mediterranean Fries, Braised Short Rib, and the pan seared Salmon. The proportions were very good, worth the money. Took all three home . The fries were the best fries i have ever had, and believe me i have had fries from everywhere. The Braised Short Rib was suggested by our waitress , and she was accurate when she said it was amazing. The Salmon and the Rib just melted in your mouth with a mild complement of spices. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very pleasing to the eye, and was warm and inviting. The service was great. Sloan was our server but many people were attentive to our needs. I don't write many reviews, usually just good ones, because it is so hard to find great experiences. The restaurant was filled to capacity by the time we left. Obviously, other people know what I experienced. These people who are associated with the restaurant care about what they are doing. It shows in their attitude. They deserve for this restaurant to be successful. If you are looking for a great dining experience , and you are from Kent you have to give it a try. The wait stuff was excellent. It is a little pricey but I guess everything has gone up during COVID. The Laziza french fries were tasty and the portion was monstrous. We had the dip trio of hummus, baba ghanouj, and tabouli. All were fresh and tasty. My wife had the Mediterranean pasta which she said was good if a bit heavy. I came here with a friend on a Wednesday evening and I regret not taking photos but the food was outstanding! The restaurant is large and inviting - a pleasant upscale surprise from the other middle eastern restaurants I have eaten at lately. The menu is large and has a lot of great option for vegans and vegetarians. My friend ordered a small Mediterranean salad and we both had the chicken shawarma hummus platters. She subbed broccolini for her vegetable and I subbed Zatar fries for mine. I had a side of the garlic sauce which was excellent. I loved the sliced almonds they added to the dish for extra flavor and crunch. I am already planning when I can return to eat here again and looking forward to left overs tonight. Service was very good, the restaurant was super clean and I think this would be a great spot for a date night. My girlfriend and I are so silly and we kept singing, "I took a pill in Ibiza" while we were here. The truth, however, is that we drank a Cosmo in Laziza! Which, even though Ibiza sounds marvelous, a fabulous cocktail in a tasty Mediterranean restaurant just might top it. I mean, especially because the pill part doesn't sound too ravishing. This was one of the first days restaurants were open after Governor DeWine's big shutdown on March 16. It still feels eerie seeing all of the servers and bartenders with masks, however if it can protect them or us in any way, it's certainly worth it. We had an absolutely amazing server named Rachel - shout out to her - she was such a trooper dealing with talking to us through her mask which I can't even imagine doing in the service industry. I wear one for work in an office environment only in common areas and that's nothing in comparison to a full day on your feet mask in tow. She was super knowledgeable, down to earth, positive attitude, friendly, patient, funny and oh-so-welcoming! You have a real gem in her and we were so grateful that she was the person we encountered as our first steps into the dining world again. My gal pal adores the Baba here - that's short for babaganoush for any other noobs out there. She kept saying "oh my gosh they have the best Baba here - I swear they have a following!" I totally played along like Baba was all the rage and I knew exactly what that meant, but until I read the app menu I was cuh-lue-lessss! It was really good though! Who doesn't love freshly mashed chick peas? I'll be completely honest with you Yelpers because you know that's my thing - I'm not super nuts about Mediterranean food itself but I LOVE the vibe of Med-y places. Not short for medicine. Just trying to be clever. Quarantine made me weirder than normal, it's true. ANYWAYS. I thought the chicken shawarma was definitely good and loved the spices. I was a little underwhelmed by the zucchini and squash but that was to no fault of anyone else - I probably should have gotten a different side with a little more pizzazz. Had a decent experience here for dinner. The atmosphere is really cool. I love their color choices and decor. It was fairly busy on a Friday night, but not so loud that you couldn't have conversation. It was pretty relaxing. We enjoyed the falafel appetizer, and my wife's beef shawarma was wonderful. The beef had some really nice Mediterranean flavors. Both of us said we would order it again. I got the Laziza platter, which had a chicken, steak and kafta kabob. The steak was pretty good, but I wasn't as big a fan of the other two meats. Kafta is one of my favorite things, and I just didn't get much of that Mediterranean flavor I like it to pack. The chicken was really dry and didn't really have any flavor. The good news is that the dish was a huge portion of food, and I ate it all. I didn't hate it, just a little underwhelmed for $24. I believe they used to have sandwiches/wraps on the menu, but they no longer do. At least at dinner time. read more

I can't believe we stumbled onto this great restaurant in downtown Kent Ohio! We came to town to enjoy a concert at Kent Stage ( an old theater getting restored) and viewed the menu prior to dinner. It looked great, but was better than expected! Good service, and great food, plus generous drinks at reasonable prices. The only thing lacking - the restaurant is a little noisy when busy. I loved coming here when I went to Kent State, and it was a monthly treat due to price. I had the chance to go back yesterday while visiting, and it lived up to every memory I had of it. I ordered the vegetarian sampler with extra bread and falafel instead of tabbouleh. It was absolutely delicious. The hummus and baba ghanoush were a tad acidic for my taste, but still good. The falafel is TO DIE FOR. The French fries are heavenly. I have dreams about these fries. Service was also fantastic, our server was on the spot with suggestions and recommendations, and very friendly. My husband ordered the lamb over hummus. My co-worker and I went here for lunch and the place is simply amazing inside. It's very welcoming and has a nice ambiance. They had soft music playing in the background and the decor is something out of a magazine. We were seated immediately. There were a total of 4 people in at the time. We only had 30 minutes to eat and we told our waiter that. The service was ok. We didn't get a lot of attention, especially with it being so slow. My co-worker and I ordered the same thing, crab cakes and the vegetable of the day. Let's talk food! The waiter brought us out one meal at a time so we were completely confused and wondered if he thought we were splitting the same meal but after about 5 minutes he came back with another plate of veggies and said the second order of cakes were almost ready. I think he was doing us a favor since we were low on time but that message was never conveyed haha. Anywho, once we both received the food, it was excellent. The crab cakes were soft and full of meat and they were decently sized. The vegetables were seasoned perfectly and soft just like I like them! No major complaints.
