This review is based on several visits to kingfish. If it weren't for my last experience I would've given it 5 stars. Kingfish is an upscale seafood restaurant with a modern nautical theme for its interior. The service has always been wonderful we've lucked out with very attentive waitresses/waiters. My top dishes are the blackened salmon and fried green tomatoes (except for the last visit). I took my father for a belated Father's Day celebration on Monday and the fried green tomatoes were either undercooked (or cornmeal was raw inside but burnt on the outside) or severely over cooked -hard blacken and dry. I've had them on several Occasions and they were great and perfectly cooked albeit that was on a weekend. Nonetheless my father loved his surf and turf. The bread pudding was rich and decadent. I didn't expect it to come out as a slice but it worked. Overall check this spot out even if just for a happy hour. If ordering the fried green tomatoes maybe do it on the weekend due to inconsistent cooking. read more

We didn't think it would be possible to find anything close to the quality we had been enjoying in FL when we moved back to OH, but Kingfish proved us wrong (for which we are very happy!). The steak was cooked a perfect medium rare. The salmon was moist and flaky. The service? Attentive and friendly. The vibe? Quite dim and moody, perfect for a date night. The price? It's up there, but you get what you pay for and it was worth the price to us. Comfort? This was some of THEE best food that I have ever tasted. EVERYTHING was delicious. The lobster was buttery, sweet and it melted in your mouth. And this lobster mashed potatoes. . . bae bae . . . scrumptious! The service was excellent. Our server was super attentive and the atmosphere had a nice chill vibe. Because it was my birthday, I received a free dessert of crème brûlée. I was creamy with the perfect amount of sugar crust and fruit. It's a 30 minute drive from my house. Love the food & our server Nick was on point all night! We have become big fans of all the hospitality restaurant locations and always debate if kingfish is better than blue point. Kingfish has better prices (the kingfish trio is $15+ less expensive than the Blue Point Haven for the same dish) and better drinks (one of my favorite manhattan's in Cleveland). Their lobster bisque is on par with blue point as is their calamari but we go back and forth each time we eat at either restaurant. Stopped by Kingfish with my wife for our wedding anniversary dinner. We made a reservation and when we arrived, we were promptly seated. A minute later, our server arrived and was very friendly. We were given menus and our drink requests were taken. Sadly, they didn't have any ciders on the menu, so I ordered a lager beer, which ended up being good. My wife requested mussels as an appetizer. They were served in a delicious, hot broth with tomatoes, garlic, and other yummy ingredients. The one ingredient in mussels that I hate is sand. The mussels were large, but each one that I ate had at least one grain of sand in it. Sand doesn't have a great mouth feel. Ya know? That's why I don't love mussels in general. We were also served bread, which I dipped in the mussel broth, and tasted awesome. For dinner, I asked the server to choose between two dishes for me - Steak Diane and Pasta Newburg. He recommended the Steak Diane for a couple reasons. One reason was that it was being removed from the menu. The second reason is that I've never had Steak Diane before and he said it was absolutely delicious. So that's what I requested and my wife requested the crab cake dinner. A good while later, our dinners arrived. My steak and her crab cake looked amazing. Upon first bite, the steak was cooked correctly (medium), was juicy, and delicious. It had just a little Diane sauce, but I was expecting more it it. It didn't really need any sauce though because the steak was extremely tender and flavorful. It ended up being one of the best steaks I've ever eaten. It was that good. I also loved the mushrooms it was served with. The mashed potatoes were excellent as were the green beans. This meal was perfectly prepared. I tasted my wife's crab crake and it was yummy, but nowhere near as good as my steak dish. I finished all of it and was very content. Omar from Paris was learning English and a sincere pleasure to engage as our first person at our table. Megan was our server and she was most accommodating and professional. She shared her favorite choices and reminded us of the Sun special, Nawlin's Treat! For not $36 but $26, you get a 4oz filet mignon, 4oz salmon and 3 Bourbon St shrimp... accompanied by basmati rice and jalapeño cornbread. The steak was so perfectly medium, I could not have grilled it better. Tender, juicy and peppery goodness! The cornbread was moist and sweet and spicy! The shrimp had a tomato salsa type of lacing that balanced the spices and creaminess of the rice and delicate flavors of the grilled salmon. The meal was litterally fantastic! read more

I had the King Trio (lobster tail, scallops and shrimp) with the most delicious lobster mash potatoes. I also opted substitute the asparagus with spinach. Everyone else in my party went with the filet mignon (1- medium rare and 2-medium well) and all enjoyed. The Oscar topping on the filet went over really well too. We also enjoyed some very nice cocktails, especially the spicy margarita. The ambiance was amazing and my teen even commented on how much she enjoyed the restaurant. My family had a party of 10 which I know can be tedious on the staff however the servers were very attentive to our individual needs and made sure we had a great experience. Everything came out in a timely fashion and there was always a staff member in the general vicinity to check on us. Decided to try this place for our recent wedding anniversary. Placed a reservation to be safe even though it was a Monday night. This proved to be a great thing. They were definitely busier than I would have expected. We were seated promptly at a booth overlooking the packed bar. Our waiter, Tim came over immediately and got us started. Tim was the real star of the evening and the reason for the 4th star. We had Oysters Rockefeller and Mussels (they weren't serving the calamari) for apps, which were what you'd expect. The cocktail at Tim's suggestion was a Bottle-Aged Vieux Carre. Spectacular! For dinner, I got the Shrimp and Scallops Sauté and my husband the Delmonico Ribeye and Fried Green Tomatoes, both with Lobster Mashed Potatoes. My meal unfortunately lacked flavor and the scallops needed another minute in the pan. I actually did not finish them. His Delmonico was perfect. The Tomatoes had some flavor. The Lobster Mashed Potatoes were a bit of a disappointment as well. I struggled to find the lobster. Overall the food was not memorable. To break down my rating, the kitchen was very slow. We waited 25 minutes for apps and much more for dinner. Tim kept checking on us, but it left a stain on the evening. We were given a complimentary creme brûlée for our anniversary, which was a nice touch. With the food and kitchen the way they were this would have easily been a 3 star rating. Terrific food - even better service. As first time visitors we had high hopes. From the moment we were greeted by the hostess, I knew we were in good hands. She was polite and friendly. Our server, Jenny, was also friendly and extremely professional. Our drinks never hit the bottom before we were offered a refill. The bussing service was even phenomenal. Our empty plates never sat for longer than a minute or two. Onto the food. I ordered the Alaskan Halibut with roasted broccoli, basmati and smokey pepper sauce. A+. The sauce was a real surprise and was so good. The meal and all of its ingredients paired fit together perfectly. It was filling and just the right portion size. I had such an amazing experience here! We came here only because I was craving crab and we couldn't get in at red lobster... and I'm not mad about it. I had never been here before but I will definitely be back. Tim was our server and he was phenomenal. He suggested drinks for my husband, which he LOVED. I couldn't drink due to being pregnant, so I asked for a soda with cranberry and the server put it in a martini glass for me which was so fun. The seafood was amazing. I came for the crab and wasn't disappointed. It came out pre-cracked which was great, but I did have to be careful to pick out the shell shrapnel. That took a bit of effort, but I was expecting to put in an entire shift cracking legs so it was no biggie. I usually try a bite of my husbands dinner, but by the time I looked up from my own food, his was gone. That's how I know it was great :) Overall, it's pricey but well worth the trip. I had not expected this place to be so fancy and beautiful inside - last time I was here was when it was the restaurant Shells and that was decorated like a typical Red Lobster sort of place. The service was excellent as was the food. Only 1 minor complaint about the food - my husband had the halibut and he said it could have used a little seasoning on it - so no biggie but maybe something for the chef to consider. I also took a bit of it and other than the s/p on the table it could have used something else to enhance the flavor. I had the Kingfish trio and the shrimp + scallops + lobster tail were all perfectly cooked and tasted great. It came with lobster mashed potatoes which I rarely indulge in but "when in Rome right?"
