Honestly in the last 5 years this place has consistently been going downhill. They never have consistent staff and I can see why everyone quits or gets replaced. Management here must be a joke. Tonight went with a party of 4. We were seated and told once the fryer was good to go we'd be given the complimentary chips. Our waitress was also the bartender, so I can understand she was busy before I continue with everything else. We waited for over 30 minutes and still had not gotten chips. All the tables around us had gotten chips. They also received refills of chips. I stopped the other waitress and asked if we would be able to get some chips soon. Our waitress had been bartending and hadn't been by us for a while yet suddenly at that moment she appeared behind me and let me know that they were extremely busy and she had a lot to do and that I needed to be more UNDERSTANDING and had an attitude as she said it. It wasn't said with politeness or with customer service in mind. I wasn't rude to the other waitress. I didn't allude to the fact that it was our waitress's fault or put blame on anyone. I simply asked for chips because we had noticed them coming as refills and we hadn't even gotten our first batch. Our waitress was literally shaking as if she was ready for a fight while she sat her rant at me. I told her the aforementioned and she responded by saying those were the other waitress's tables and not that waitress's problem. SHE was our waitress and SHE was busy. Well, honestly, that's precisely why I asked the other waitress because I doubt running a tray of chips out would have been that big of a hassle for her and if our waitress was so busy that she couldn't run out chips I don't see why she had the time to hop on over to scold me like a child. Pretty sure she could have grabbed the chips and ran them out instead with a simple "Sorry for the wait." But that's alright... Now on to the subject of understanding. What she didn't ask and failed to understand was that there were two diabetics at the table, both of whom take medications. We've been to this establishment multiple times and have ALWAYS had long wait times but, because the food is good, we usually don't mind. Tonight however we just needed some carbs at the table because my sugat was dropping. Shame she didn't bother to be UNDERSTANDING although she was so adamant I should be. Also unrelated to her rudeness but they're always out of everything. Horchata is almost always out. Stuffed Poblanos and Posole were out because they don't get made in the summer apparently. I didn't know and I ordered some tonight. She was snarky about that, too. If your establishment doesn't make it then why is it on the menu? It should at the very least say it's a seasonal item. Don't come at me with that attitude because your establishment lists things they don't make year round. I'm not psychic. Maybe try to be more UNDERSTANDING of that. In short, the place's customer service has been waning. They can barely handle half a house. Then on top of it the bitch was rude. The other waitress for the record ran out half our stuff when it was ready. We made it clear to her that she wasn't our waitress at least when I was scolded by the other one that's what we were told. So she couldn't run out some chips but she could run everything else? Once again, pointless to scold me when you literally had her doing all YOUR work. In the end I didn't even get her name because one of us paid the bill and forgot to grab the copy. Otherwise I would have named her here. But it shouldn't be hard to pinpoint who it was since there were only 2 on duty, and I reiterate, this one was the one bartending. Also she didn't even offer us the end of dinner apple pie shots that were brought to everyone else. She obviously can't stay objective and instead decided to be abrasive. Hopefully this business does the right thing and corrects or gets rid of her rude ass and she learns to be more UNDERSTANDING and gains some humility. read more

Hidden gem of a Mexican restaurant! When we arrived warm chips with seasoning and yummy salsa were served, included free, which is rare nowadays. We both had lunch specials, which are only served Friday and Saturday. The enchiladas were delicious! It appears they may have a short staffing issue, but our service wasn't really impacted at the time we arrived on Friday at noon. Overall a reasonably priced, yummy lunch. read more

Ate at Lunas for the first time tonight with a girlfriend. We got there around 510pm and didn't get out of the place until 720pm. It was the slowest service in the world. When we walked in, there was only one other table seated and we put in our food order fairly fast. Soon after we ordered our main entrees a bunch of other tables came in to dine and there was only one waitress serving. I work in the service industry so i was feeling bad for our server, so we 100% didn't expect her coming around frequently asking about refills, more chips, etc. We waited almost an hour and a half for our food, which was just a few small al a cart items (an enchilada, 2 tacos, rice, and a chimichanga). While we were waiting we saw almost every other table that sat after us receive our food first. Our waitress eventually admitted to forgetting to put in our order and asked us if we would like a free drink each to make up for it. We were annoyed at the time but said sure and she proceeded to serve us 2 house margaritas that were so sweet and gross tasting that we each didn't take more than a few sips of. Finally when we asked for our bill, we waited probably about 15 mins for the bill and another 10 minutes for her to take our card. Then, when she ran my card an extra 20% was added onto the bill, which she stated was a "small service fee". I didn't see anything on the menu that stated that 20% would be added automatically as gratuity or a service fee, so that was bullshit. I love the chips and salsa here and the patio. We came with a large party and they were easily able to accommodate us (we made reservations). All of the servers and staff were friendly and attentive and they even offered us free shots at the end of our meal. The atmosphere was kid-friendly and the food was VERY reasonably priced. Overall it was a good experience. The food itself was very mediocre but you get what you pay for. If you want a cheap meal with great service, then this is your place! Finally: a big Yelp FAIL ! The staff were really attentive and kind. I asked a server for a recommendation, which took her aback. Finally recommended flautas, or Enchiladas con Crema. The Enchiladas con Crema (got it with pork) had the following problems, as far as I'm concerned: it was plain, bland, mostly flavorless; the plate was like a mass of substances - - each lacking in character or quality - - assembled robotically; the melted cheese atop the enchis had the quality of half-congealed candle wax, and zero flavor; the pork was unseasoned, unimaginative; the rice looked and tasted like it had been sitting around for a long, long time. I got the impression that the kitchen wouldn't know spices if it bit them in the torta. A big pile of uninteresting, unimaginative, base quality ingredients assembled without the slightest appreciation of accent, flavor, succulence, or style. It was cheap, basic ingredients, arranged in meal-resembling form. I wished so badly that I had eaten ANYwhere else on this trip through Milwaukee. But that semi-hardened layer of virtual candle wax over the top - - that is something I will never forget. She did a fantastic job considering she was the only waitress that evening. She recommended that I try the chipotle shrimp tacos and I'm so glad I did. They were out of this world! We were looking for a restaurant on Cinco de Mayo that wasn't crowded, as all the good ones were. That fact that this place wasn't crowded should have been our first clue. They only had the buffet available, with your standard taco's, enchilada's, and fajitas. So we grabbed out paper plate and plasticware (really, don't you have any plates and silverware) and stood in line for our bland food that all tasted the same. Delicious! Best chips and salsa that we've had in the Milwaukee area. Ask for the green sauce, too - just enough kick to start a fire in your mouth. Lala's food is bland, el Fuego is way overpriced, Botanas 2 has been getting consistently worse and there is a language barrier. Sometimes I just want tacos and a pitcher of margarita. When co-workers planned a dinner at Swayz, I was admittedly nervous. The Yelp reviews were not stellar and Mexican restaurants can vary widely in quality and cleanliness. I am pleased to say, this is my new favorite Mexican restaurant in Milwaukee! The chips and salsa were delicious, but my favorite was the spicy steak enchiladas. I've been here many times and have never been disappointed. The chips and salsa are the best. The chips are hot and have seasoning on them and the salsa is fresh, not too hot, not too mild. I love the chunky beef because it's extremely tender. You can get it know most of their dishes. The enchiladas are good and come with your choice of sauce. A hidden gem in St. Francis. Typically when you think of Mexican Food in Milwaukee area, you think La Fuente, Botanas, GTO, Riveria Maya. Well you better start thinking about going to Swayz. They have their own take on Cinco de Mayo by having Cinco de Swayz (the 5th of every month). What does this mean for you? $3 Margaritas, $1 ground beef tacos, $1 off appetizers. Great little Mexican dive... many good times had in here. Servers are great fun, even gave me a souvenier light up pen with their name on it! WOW Salsa is the best, just right not too mild and not too hot. Love the selection of margaritas. Jalapeno peach (yes, very spicy!) or my favorite cilantro lime. I'm usually not big on frozen margaritas but with these unique fresh ingredients make it really good. Several veg options, some better than others (burrito is very big with mostly iceburg lettuce inside) but Guacamole tostados are really good, with as presumed plenty of guac. The food was good, the place is quaint and the drinks are strong. My only complaint is that the service was very subpar. The other people we dined with enjoyed their meals overall. If you want traditional style tacos make sure to indicate that or they will bring you flour tortillas with lettuce instead of corn with onions and cilantro. As the door dash driver called me -10 mins before supposed deliver to state that the restaurant was out of two dishes I ordered. If Swayz were a house at Hogwarts it would be Gryffindor and all points would be awarded to it. To say that my last visit was anything but perfect would be nefarious and downright criminal. Cut to reality - I think Swayz is a great restaurant. The chips are salty and greasy so if that's not your thing grow up or be prepared to towel them down. These chips are so fresh. The food is just a notch or two above adequate (bordering on "eh, this is pretty good.") and the service is supreme. The margaritas were apparent but not memorable. If this is the one thing from stopping you from going in you need to give them a break. Great service. Some of the folks that dined with me thought the restaurant was "chilly" and it was. The warm atmosphere more than made up for this though. Spoiler alert!!! The meal ends with a complimentary Apple Pie Shot which is divine. I only go to Swayz when the weather is nice and I can sit at the outdoor patio, so I cannot speak to the indoor ambiance. But the patio is pretty relaxing. My boyfriend likes the margaritas, especially to wash down warm, salty chips. The fajitas are a heaping plate with green, yellow and orange peppers and onions. The mole is pretty good too. Swayz Mexican restaurant. What can I say about it? I know! It is yummy. It tastes great. Every time we go, the atmosphere is friendly and not crowded. I like not crowded places. I am sure there are times when it is crowded but whenever we go there it is crowdless. There are plenty of seats available. My wife doesn't like Mexican food but she sure does like Swayz. One of the draws is that the chips are fantastic. I would go just for the chips. I know there is new hipper Mexican place in the area but we prefer Swayz much more. And you don't get charged for every soda you have - Definite plus there. There is plenty of parking. There is a patio for eating outside. I don't like eating outside so I won't be partaking in that. More room for you others that like fly's, bees, and other insects bothering you. Oh and wind. Wind is stupid. Unless you are sailing. Then wind is cool. I will be back with my wife and friends whenever the urge for enchiladas hits me. read more
