My wife and I stumbled across Lazy Dog when we went to Kuma's for lunch. We had some time to kill, so we stopped in. Really glad we did. First, we got a really close parking space on the side street in the east side of the store. Upon walking in, we were warmly greeted by the woman working there. She also told us about a couple of other close by antique shops to check out. I liked that. This place is quaint, and filled with an eclectic mix of items. Now we didn't have a lot of extra time to explore. What we did see though was intriguing enough for us to come back. Before we left, my wife did pick up some skeleton keys, at a pretty decent price. I was as happy here with the quality and uniqueness of the stuff as I was with the boss's willingness to deal. First class. I was not so happy with the place not opening at Noon, as advertised. It was raining, and there were no signs of life. I only noticed a light flipping on perhaps a half hour or so later, as I was heading back to my hood on the bus. So, I got off and returned. Yes friends and neighbors, step right up and rub the belly of the Lazy Dog where yesteryear's treasures await to appear before you for at a reasonable price. For instance, the two 1920's brass desk top lamps with beautiful tulip shaped frosted glass shades that encase the light bulbs that provides a ghostly glow of the early 20th century( on my antique desk) purchased last fall. Wonderful store. Very nice ladies run the shop. Amy was great the first time I went in to browse. No pressure. She has a lovely attitude. I returned and met the very nice and personable owner, Lisa. I enjoyed seeing all that they had for sale. Some gorgeous vintage jewelry and impressive antiques and collectibles that were quite eye-catching. Unique store and I was made to feel very comfortable when there. Also, had a nice conversation with Lisa. It is such a good feeling to be able to browse without pressure. Even if I could not buy something then, I may very well buy something the next time, and as you can see, I'm writing a Yelp review. This antique store offers a wide assortment of furniture, signs, and jewelery, both costume and real. There are two floors to the antique store (main level and basement) and everything was pretty well organized and well kept - items were not just placed anywhere, or haphazardly. This is my favorite place to go for antiques. They have a wonderful selection from furniture to jewelry. I always leave there smiling and happy with whatever I walk out with. The people working there are so nice and helpful in finding that perfect match for what I need for my home. OK, I went to the LDA yesterday again, and Holy cow did I get the deals! They had 40% off in the basement, which has a whole counter of old and beautiful lamps - some with the shades and some without the shades. I picked out a traditional pair of crystal lamps, and got the pair for $165!!!! They are in mint condition, and all the crystals were still intact, and they work perfectly. I also found a gold gilt mirror for my hallway, that I have been looking for over a year, and fully expected to spend $600. I got lucky at the Lazy dog, because I found THE PERFECT Mirror for $225!!!!! I am elated! Lisa (The owner of the LDA with her husband Rudy) was so nice in helping me pick out my mirror, because they had a huge selection, and when I described my decor & what I wanted, she was so helpful! She even gave me a little discount on a gorgeous enameled French Art Deco bracelet that I fell in love with! Next time I go, I will be on the hunt for a new (but vintage) dresser! And I hope that Lisa and Rudy will be as helpful as they have been every single time I have been there! LOVE THIS STORE!!!!! read more

This is a great antique store. Maybe one of the best in the city. And I've been to tons of antique stores and believe me there's a lot of junk out there with hardly no turnover, but not this one. They have lots of unique items with prices that are appropriately priced and justified and there's always something new to look at when go in. They have a lot of diverse items spanning generations. My mom and I go antiquing all over the country and Lazy Dog is up there with one of the best shops I've ever been to. Their inventory is organized nicely and some of the items they get are really amazing. You can tell the owners Lisa and Rudy really know what they're talking about and they're knowledgeable about the items they're selling. The price points vary widely too, so you can get something for under $20 or over $2000, it just depends on what you're looking for. I just snagged a pair of 1920s English leather tufted club chairs from them and they're the coolest pieces I've ever seen. Who doesn't love a good antique store. Even if you don't want to buy anything, this is a great store to browse though. A lot of interesting items and you never know when you might find a one of a kind piece of jewelry or furniture. The only thing that was a bit of a turn off is we got there about 15 minutes prior to close, they made sure to tell us that they were closing soon as if we had to hurry and leave. I would still go back if in the neighborhood though. read more

This is by far the best antique store in Chicago. I make a point of dropping in as often as possible because they so frequently get new stock of intriguing, and unusual items. Apart from the wonderful variety, the prices are amazing. I love the fact they don't try and rip people off, but price things so that I can indulge in fabulous items that make me extremely happy. My star buy, amongst many great bargains, was a Victorian child's high chair. Exquisite and in perfect condition - $60, less 20% in one of their many sales. Incredible! I regularly see things at Lazy Dog at a fraction of the price I see them elsewhere. And Lisa is total a delight. She takes such a genuine interest in what I'm looking for. I went in there yesterday hunting for a simple yet sophisticated necklace to wear to a wedding. As soon as I walked in I was greeted with a warm welcome. The woman behind the counter was extremely friendly and exceedingly patient with my indecision (I pretty much asked to try on EVERY necklace in the jewelry case). The owner even went out of her way to help me find the perfect chain to pair with my locket pendant. They were both incredibly knowledgeable about their merchandise as well!
