Although I was a bit alarmed at a couple of recent reviews regarding service, we were desperate to find a place that was (a) pet friendly and (b) still open beyond 3pm on a Sunday. So we decided to give the Happy Camper a try and it was definitely worth the visit! Because we had the dogs, we sat on the shaded back patio. To our delight, there were misters on to keep everyone cool in the 97 degree heat. Our server - I think his name was Paden (bearded gent wearing a Dolly Parton T-shirt) was very friendly and attentive. The food itself was the star of the show. We began with the green chili cheese curd appetizer which came with a ranch dipping sauce. Very tasty and not too spicy - just the way I like it. My husband had the cheesesteak sandwich that he declared was the best he'd ever had. It was topped with onions and mushrooms infused with truffle oil. Best of the, the meat itself was not the usual paper thin minute steaks used by most establishments but instead was actual chunks of perfectly seared beef. As for me, I opted for the pulled pork quesadilla featuring wonderfully moist meat that had a delightful smokey bbq flavor. We usually don't bother with dessert when we dine out but upon learning that red velvet cheesecake was on the menu, we caved and ordered a slice. The generous wedge of cheesecake had a chocolate crust and a layer of red velvet cake in the center. The slice was garnished with a drizzle of chocolate sauce and a couple squirts of whipped cream. It was absolutely the perfect end to a delightful meal. I saw another reviewer commenting on the "sketchy" location. Please don't be put off by the dirt road or the trailer park. Every single person we encountered there (including customers) greeted us warmly. We will definitely return!

My pup was just chilling on the patio not bothering anyone. The bartenders working there both made sudden advances on my dog prompting him to growl to protect himself. What do you expect when you act like a complete knucklehead and an arrogant ass? The bartenders working there are completely disrespectful and think that they are badasses. The reality is they are ass clowns. They lost my business. I won't ever be back. Please learn common courtesy and manners, it's not hard. The wings were delicious and it's nice that they have local New Mexico offerings with craft beer.

There's a small u shaped bar seating and larger dining areas on either side . I noticed a couple of ribbons on the counter and he mentioned his salsa , red chili snd BBQ has won local awards . He brought out a complimentary basket of chips and green Hatch chili salsa to start . Oh boy! This was the best salsa! Tasty with a kick but not too spicy . My daughter scooped up every last bit. He suggested the special burrito. ($13?) I took his advise and got it . It was humongous! Definitely enough to share . My daughter wanted the salmon dinner which was standard fare so, she helped me eat my burrito instead . My burrito was way better . It had everything but the kitchen sink in it . Sooo good . Even though we ate until we were full , we still had 1/2 a burrito left! (Ate the rest for breakfast the next day !) Glad we found this gem driving through on our road trip. * The owners Hatch chili salsa should be sold in jars !

Glad we stopped because the Chile Relleno was one of the best I had in a long time. The shell was very crispy. Wow covered with sauce. Hard to make crispy inside. The rice and beans came with. It was really good too. We're also order the steak, medium rare, but we had to send it back for a little more cooking. Overall, the flavor was very good. Came with fries and a salad.
