I walked in today ready to buy -- not browse, not waste time -- actually purchase two lamps I had already picked out. I spent 15 minutes in the showroom while every salesperson sat behind their desks, pretending to be busy, not even bothering to look up or ask if I needed help. If walk-in customers are such an inconvenience, just put a sign on the door. I guess they don't need people who show up ready to spend money. I went to the store specifically because I prefer to buy local instead of ordering on Amazon, but after this experience, I'll gladly click "Add to Cart" online. Customer service: ZERO. Interest in helping customers: ZERO. Huge disappointment. Would not recommend. read more

The privileged complainer who can't wait their turn should be ignored. I've been a customer literally for decades and am always treated well. The staff is more knowledgeable than any other lighting store you'll find and their prices are competitive. They've grown from basically a light bulb store with some light fixtures to a lighting fixture store three times its original size (that also sells light bulbs) and for good reason; they sell major designer brands and they treat their customers with respect. Yes, they're often busy since they cater to designers and tradesmen that can take some time to accommodate. It's worth waiting. read more

The best service! LBU carries everything electrical you could possibly need from light fixtures to ceiling fans, odd bulbs, etc. I've been dealing with them for years and it's always been great. LBU has a lovely selection and a mostly helpful staff. However, when I made a return today, I was charged 25% of my total purchase as a restocking fee or over $125. I have owned retail businesses and although I've personally never imposed a restocking fee, it certainly wouldn't be one that left my customer with their mouth open and aghast, never to return again. Yes, my receipt said that returns would be subject to a restocking fee, no it did not say how much and in these current times, 25% feels extremely outlandish. I was a customer, but now Capitol Lighting will get my business. read more

The employees at LBU Lighting are simply amazing! I needed a part that I couldn't find anywhere else and when my father suggested this place I was doubtful they would have it. But guess what? I was happily wrong. From the minute we walked into this store we were greeted with kindness. The old lighting part I was holding was given to a super nice man and he confidently indicated they carried it. Even though this part is very old and not popular he told me he would search in the back for me. Within a minute he had the part I needed. When we checked out I was very grateful to discover what an honest company they are too. Sometimes with older parts companies try to over charge you because they know your options are limited, but not LBU Lighting. They are kind, knowledgeable and very honest. Within just a few minutes the part I thought was going to be a real pain to find was in my hands and took seconds to install. The people who work here are not only extremely knowledgeable, but they go out of their way to make you feel like a rock star. A super kind man from South Africa was chatting with my father and even though this was my first time in the store, he made me feel so special. Kindness to this level is rare and I left this store feeling on top of the world. Thank you to the team at LBU Lighting! They are my new go-to place when I'm in town. Been going to LBU lighting for several years in Ft. Lauderdale and have always had good service. We consistently go back there for bulbs and switches when needed as they have a good selection. Recently we went to the Boca store on a friend's recommendation because we needed pendant lighting and she said the selection there was larger than the Ft. Lauderdale store. We were lucky enough to get Clayton in the Boca store as our salesman. He really is well versed in his products and is very professional. They had tons of fixtures to choose from in all price points. We ended up selecting a fixture from a book, because it was brand new and not on display as yet. We were a bit skeptical about not seeing it in person, but loved the manufacturer, as we'd purchased from this manufacturer before. Anyway, we just got the pendants and they are truly statement pieces over our kitchen island. We didn't actually have to wait very long considering they were made to order. Couldn't be happier with our choice as well as the service we received. Highly recommend LBU lighting in either location! read more

The name does not do this place justice. It i way more than a place to buy light bulbs. Unbelievable selection of track lighting systems, chandaliers, wall sconces, etc. Very friendly staff. Been working with Haley to replace our ancient track lighting. She is so informative and not all all pushy. Wants you to make the right decision without rushing into it. read more

This is the best lighting store in the area so each person is BUSY. When you walk in you have to wait your turn. That's fair. When your turn comes to be engaged with a sales person they are focused on you and do their utmost to get you what you need for your project. If you are in a hurry, then I suggest you call and make an appointment. Take Lynn at the design desk for example. She is patient and kind and an excellent listener. She was brilliant with her suggestions and I am ecstatic with our choices. My fixtures are perfect for my house and I can't wait for my next project and the opportunity to work with Lynn and Lenny again. read more

This place is fantastic. I went in there looking for a light bulb that could not be more obscure. But it was no problem for Pete at LBU. I needed a medium base 127v 15w light bulb for a European lamp and they had it!! Thought I'd have to write to London for one. Cannot recommend this place enough. Super knowledgeable and helpful. I have just moved to Florida and needed to purchase lighting fixtures and fans for my new home. My husband and I decided to go to LBU for our lighting needs. The store has beautiful lighting but it can be very overwhelming. Thank god we found Greg Horowitz our sales person. He helped us purchase all of our fans and lighting fixtures and made this is so easy for us. He is so knowledgeable and so helpful my husband and I could have never done this without him. we purchased four fan/light combinations from LBU plus one chandelier in mid-December. I knew nothing about lighting and the salesperson was informative, friendly and helpful. Although it was more costly than i had anticipated, you get what you pay for. We were told that the five units would be delivered in early January. About one week into January, i called and asked for an update. Apparently, one of the units had to be back ordered and wouldn't be ready until mid-February. Why didn't she call us when she learned of this in mid-December. I instructed them to deliver the four other units so we could have them installed. One was the wrong color. When we contacted her about this, she denied that it was the wrong color. We sent a photo we had taken at LBU that day of the unit we ordered, in the proper color. She continued to deny this reality. We installed the unit with the incorrect color. In mid-Feb, without calling, decided to deliver the back ordered unit. Although nobody was home to accept it, it was placed outside the house and didn't disappear. In short, LBU is great at selling. Rude, rude, rude! Walked in there at 5:40 one night and asked them if they had a bulb to replace the one in my make up mirror. They asked me what kind - guys you're the experts - you should know. So they looked at it and figured out they needed to unscrew a few screws to find out but "they don't have the right screwdriver" (Really? Just a small phillips was needed. Pretty sure they had one behind the counter). Five people standing behind the counter and NO ONE even lifted a finger to help. So I was told it's almost 6 o'clock and they don't have time to take it apart and was told to come back tomorrow. Wow! I think a company wide customer service class is in order for this store. read more

Purchased a florescent light cover for garage -$40. Although it appeared to be wrapped sufficiently to prevent breakage, it was cracked when I got it home. They must have problems with this item because they told me "not to bring it back even if it was broken". I certainly won't be doing business with them again nor should you. This establishment is highly dishonest with a "take it or leave it" attitude. Because I have been a customer of theirs over the past few years, I had no reason to believe they would show no loyalty, regard or fairness whatsoever to their customers. With my latest purchase, I asked about returns beforehand. Because there were several fixtures involved I wanted to be certain of their return policy. I was assured it would not be a problem, and at the very least I might have to pay a restocking fee which I agreed to. They never indicated that if a light fixture is installed it could not be returned even though I asked about returns specifically. Also, nothing about this policy is indicated anywhere in writing. As I was in the process of returning one of the track lights, I was asked "Oh, by the way has this fixture been installed? " I said yes. With that, they just pushed the box back towards me without even opening it up. Had they attempted to offer the courtesy of at least opening the box and looking at the fixture they would have seen that it was in its original packaging and in its original condition as the fixture was returned immediately. When I made mention of this, the salesman begrudgingly opened the box, glanced at it and said, "no." Their sales people have become cold and indifferent. With so many other nice lighting fixture stores around why would I ever want to continue doing business them? read more
