What was exceptional was we were given water, our server paid attention and knew when we were ready to order, the drinks and food were delivered hot and fast, and to my shock, our guy checked in to make certain everything was okay and nothing else was needed. I ended up ordering the starter and plate for my meal. My starter came out first and I ended up ordering the French Onion Soup. They also gave us a complimentary basket of French bread when the soup arrived. The soup was a generous portion, topped with broiled comté cheese and baguette pieces. First time have authentic French Onion Soup and I can say this was magnificent! The soup had copious amounts of perfectly cooked onions, these cheese was layered on perfectly, and baguette absorbed the luscious soup so well! I would highly recommend this as a starter. About 10 minutes later my entree arrived. For my entree, I opted for the Sea Bass Fillet which came with seasonal vegetables. This was a simple yet very tasty dish. The sea bass was flavorful and cooked to perfection. The vegetables were also cooked nicely. Needed some salt, but so do most meals in France. A very balanced, fresh meal that is sure to please. I tried some of my friends mashed potatoes that came with her entree--and WOW. They were whipped with lots of butter, just heavenly! Overall, L'Atelier du Marché provided a very nice meal for us. We left full and very satisfied with our experience. They place was lively with great vibes. Absolutely loved the atmosphere and the aesthetic of the restaurant. This week, we have already been 3 times for lunch and a sample of what we had: apples...bulots; home made gnocchi with cream sauce; quail with morel mushrooms; herring and mackerel in a curry sauce. mains....faux filet of beef (steak) with pepper sauce with scalloped potatoes; pork tenderloin with a mango sauce with braised leek and fennel; duck breast with a side of sweet potato puree; beef tartare with roasted potatoes and salad. Everything we have had this week have been absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. Steaks and duck breast are not overcooked and so flavourful. A glass of very good wine is only 3 euros and a house bottle is 12 euros. Service is always efficient and friendly at La Fresque and they will never rush you for your table. There is a choice of a table outside of inside and you can people watch during your meal since the restaurant is across from Les Halles shopping center with pedestrian walkway only. We love eating at La Fresque and you get excellent value for home cooked French food that is a good portion. We will be returning again in a few days for more great dinners and lunches.
