I am a client at Le Che. Today, July 7, 2022, I had an appointment with Stephen. who did hair coloring and partial highlights. He is an expert in coloring. Then, I had Karen who washed my hair. Karen is so cheerful and talented. She washed, shampooed and conditioned my hair. She added something that makes my hair bouncy and I absolutely love this item. It stays on your hair for 10 minutes and then you hair is rinsed again. Karen placed me with the owner of Le Che, Josephine who is a precision haircutter. Josephine gave me a new look which I love. The receptionist is the very lovely Maria, who is Josephine's sister. This salon is in the Village of Farming-dale. Besides Le Che, there are many eateries. Solo for clothes shopping, the Post Office, and a wide variety of other stores. Today, I went to So Bowl of Farming dale and had the regular size bowl of açaí - very healthy! read more

I hate to give this place a bad review, as the staff were so friendly and customer oriented. My wife had an appointment for an updo as my daughter was getting married that evening. We were supposedly directed to the "updo expert" in the salon. But as the appointment went on, it became apparent that the word "expert" must mean something else here than in other places. My wife basically ended up with a bun. The stylist, for the life of her, could not get the tendrils to curl, despite multiple attempts. She finally had to give up and just pull the hair back. The updo had no body to it at all. It looked very ordinary- not what we wanted for such a big event. In no way did it justify the $125 cost. Very disappointed as we had high expectations for this place. Update: 12/12/18- I received a phone call from the salon (Maria) who apologized for our bad experience and who offered to refund our money. This says a lot about this establishment- they really care about their customer's and want to do the right thing. I would have to say I would go back and give them a second chance based upon this response. read more

I had an appointment yesterday for a blowout & tried this place based on the good reviews. I'm new to the area & I'm looking for a new stylist. A super bright & cheerful shampoo girl greeted me, hung my coat, and made sure I felt comfortable while she washed my hair. She was awesome. She brought me to the stylist who was doing my blowout. The stylist seemed like she was in a foul mood. The message was clear- she was annoyed and didn't want to be there. I understand people have bad days & I don't expect cartwheels, but her annoyance was so obvious, it was uncomfortable. The blowout Itself was decent. The price of the blowout was reasonable ($35) and the decor was really cute. But I wouldn't come back here. When I go to a salon, I want to feel good, inside & out. Horrible AND SEXIST. I recommended my friend to get his hair cut at this salon because I had an okay experience before. The stylist named Stephen called him an hour before the appointment and canceled because my friend is a man and Stephen does not cut men's hair. My friend has long hair and told them that the hair cut should be the same as a women's, so there should not be a problem. Stephen still refused. This is ridiculous and I can't believe they treated him like that. I should have known since they charge women $60 for the same haircut they charge men $35 for. I went to Le Che yesterday to get my balayage lightened. I saw Stephen and he KNEW exactly what I wanted. He was so efficient and put is heart and soul into my appt, and the end result shows! I had such an amazing experience with Liz during my first time at Le Che! I am new to coloring my hair and was very nervous. After a bad baylage experience, I had left my brunette hair untouched for years. Yet, after doing a ton of research, Le Che seemed like the perfect place to try something new - and I'm SO glad that I did! The salon is lovely! And Liz, is honestly the sweetest and most talented hairstylist I have ever been to. I am NOT great at explaining what I want done to my hair but after showing Liz ONE picture - and then telling her but not that blonde, or really that tone, but like *that* (::gestures wildly::) she got it. I really appreciated how she took the time to listen to me and understand what I was looking for. During my entire time in the chair, Liz did a great job of explaining what and why she was doing what she was, which instantly made me feel more comfortable. She also was NICE (while still being honest!) I can't recall another experience with a stylist where they complimented my hair and didn't berate me as a way to buy products. In fact, Liz didn't bully me into buying anything - or even making a super quick follow-up appointment. She understood that I was really looking for a low-maintenance style, while also helping me to achieve the look I wanted. She also offered for me to come in anytime if I ever wanted anything changed but this won't be necessary as I love it and I'm so happy with my new hair! I had the pleasure of having my hair done by Amanda. I had found Amanda by her "Hair Stories by Amanda" Instagram page. She seemed to be what I was looking for in terms of corrective color and balayage style. I had previously had an attemptive balayage done by a horror story worthy hairdresser and salon. Long story short - me roots were orange and my blonde was incredibly brassy. I walked around for an entire month pretty self conscious and ashamed of my hair. Luckily - I found Amanda! I gave the salon a call, and they were able to see my next day and accommodate my late working schedule and take me in at 6PM. I think Amanda knew she had quite the challenge, because I wanted to keep my blonde balayage, but make the blonde not brassy and more bright. In addition, I wanted my orange roots to be brown. This is a difficult process for a hairdresser because she needed to do a root touch-up, paint brown down, and paint blonde up. In the end, my hair came out absolutely beautiful. Amanda really took her time with my hair to make sure it came out as I wanted (picture attached)! I also want to take note that the owner was present at the time and was an absolute sweetheart. She was very complimenting and kind which I really appreciated. The salon is incredibly clean and very well taken care of, which is something I always look for. Thank you again, Amanda. Wow! This is hands down one of the best haircuts I've ever gotten. And this is coming from a girl who has lived in NYC and Los Angeles for the past 13 years. When I moved to Farmingdale less than a year ago, one of the first things I was worried about was my hair. I came here the first time to get my hair fixed when it was dyed too blonde. They fixed it and made it back to my natural color brown and I loved it. 6 months later i wanted my hair a bit lighter and I emphasized how i did want mostly brown highlights not blonde. I've never reviewed on here before but I really feel compelled to mention my experience. I went in for a painting with Amanda and came out with dark brown hair with hues of gray, red and green. When I walked in I had a bronze color. After much thought I decided to let her try to fix it and I was left with super streaky highlights that were far too light and not blended at all. After I showed pictures of the blonde I was looking for and even specified "I don't want to be streaky and I like my highlights to look grown out and natural" Im not sure what went wrong and I understand things happen and they did try but I was then charged full price after the stylist ruined my hair not once but twice. I had to go to another salon the next day for a serious toner but they couldn't reverse all the damage that has been done thus far. They said my ends are "muddy" and the toner applied by Amanda had too much ash which I could clearly see myself Bc my ends looked grayish. They also commented on how chunky and thick the highlights were and how the placement would only work if I was a natural blonde because you can't blend those harsh thick highlight lines with my brown base. I was shocked to see how stripey my hair looked- it's like a decent tiger stripe highlight that was popular in 2000. I just don't understand how her color calculation was so off two times and her highlight placement was so thick and chunky. The other salon is going to have me come back in 4 weeks to fix the streaky highlights because they will be hard to grow out. Beware that her pictures online look great but that may not be the outcome. I've never needed a color correction treatment in my life and now I'm going on 3 within a month span. I shouldn't have let Amanda touch my hair the second time. At this point not only have I paid full price for the terrible service at Le Che, but I paid $150 for a glaze/toner at another salon and another $70 on treatment products to heal my hair before my color correction appointment in February. So I'm looking at a total of $850 total cost once my hair is fixed in February. I would try to wait but I'm getting married in June and can't have my hair look terrible on my wedding day. Horrific experience and I'm totally devastated. I will say Josephine was extremely kind but she shouldn't have guaranteed "100%" that Amanda could fix it because clearly she couldn't. The stylist Amanda never apologized for turning my hair green/gray and didn't even want to discuss what went wrong. From what I understand Amanda was upset but she needs to understand MY hair is ruined not hers and the attitude she gave me was unprofessional. It's not my fault she pulled through the wrong toner on my blonde ends and made them gray and green. Take accountability for your actions! Clearly Instagram and reality are 2 different things. Please be careful!! She doesn't truly understand color theory or color placement. See pics and zoom in on the first one to see the grayish/green ends. What the other salon called "muddy" and "murky" from using incorrect toner. read more
