Le Clan is a beautiful restaurant with a great concept - locally sourced ingredients, boreal style food. Some of the dishes were fantastic but overall uneven, with service also variable. Always friendly and responsive but not fully attentive (wine glasses left empty through much of dinner with the bottle left out of reach). At a high end establishment the experience left more to be desired. It seems a very nice special occasion restaurant and I hope its service improves in the future.

It's on the expensive side but try go there for lunch. For $39 Canadian dollars you get to have soup/ salad, an appetizer, and an entree. With additional $5, you get to have dessert. Strongly recommend the charcuterie board and the asparagus risotto. The halibut tail was fresh. The service was great. We had no reservations and got there around 1:40, they accommodated us. But be aware the kitchen closes at 2, you will need to order fast. The restaurant was cute.

Le Clan is not a cheap date night out, but, as far as tastings go, it is a lot of amazing food for the money spent. The atmosphere is playful with all the Jackalobes mounted on the wall, and that adventurous spirit carries through the service and to the food presentation as well. Much has been written regarding the individual courses, so I won't go into detail on the food. My martini with pickled mushroom was surprisingly good! Perfect night in Quebec City!

Exquisite and reasonably priced prix fixe menu in a classy, comfy space with impeccable service. We got the 4 dish for $89CAD (at this writing only $64USD). Next time we do the 6 dish! Every morsel was delicious. Two perfect amuse bouche were served, pork cracklin and fried mussel, then I was a bit anxious about the first crab salad course since in was miniscule. However, the subsequent stellar plates were better sized. The standouts were the veal (local small farm like everything here) and rhubarb dessert three ways. They even had an extra dessert amuse bouche!

Wow. We went for brunch, which was three courses with a lot of sharing. I am pescatarian, and they substituted delicious risotto and fish for the meat my parents ate. You get to see the kitchen as you enter, and then you eat upstairs. The atmosphere is nice, not over the top, but very tasteful. The service was what you would expect from a restaurant with a Michelin star, very helpful, but not obtrusive. The food was incredible. The standouts for me were the fondue croquettes and the scones, but everything was delicious. I would highly recommend.

Wow, what an amazing experience. This is in an old townhouse with the kitchen on the main floor and seating on the 2nd. Note: this restaurant is not ADA accessible. The decor is fisherman/ hunter, with animal heads and pictures of fish on the walls. My Mom and I chose the 6 course tasting menu with their mocktails. The count is closer to 11, than 6 if you count the 2 amuse bouche and the pre-dessert. The 1st amuse bouche was a pork belly crackling with a dipping sauce (wish I'd taken a picture) , which was very crunchy, though light. The Next amuse bouche was a croquette of mussels mixed with a mild andouillie sausage, deep fried in a light batter.along with fresh baked bread. Next was a halibut in a corn sauce, then the arctic char (so buttery) on top of fresh peas, green onion, and petite penne with a light cream sauce. The Next course was my favorite, which was the smoked sturgeon with a venison rag out and a light "soup", followed by lamb prepared 2 ways that came with a lentil puree, with the last meat course of duck with a squash puree. Next came the pre-dessert (yes, you read that right & we had to laugh) of a petite strawberry shortcake. Finally, we were served dessert, which were 3 rhubarb dishes with the 1st being a white chocolate mousse over a blonde with a rhubarb gelee, a rhubarb sorbet with crispy rice, and finally a tartlet of rhubarb gelee with a torched meringue on top. The mocktails the paied with each course were wonderful. The 1st one was an elderberry spritz that I wish they would bottle. So good. Highly recommend.

We came here for a tasting menu with a food tour group. Love that they are using all local ingredients and giving you a taste of quebec. The smoked mussel was delicious. The presentation of the dish was spot on.

What a great meal in the heart of Quebec City! It was only a few blocks away from our hotel which was very convenient and when you arrive, you walk past the kitchen and up the stairs (we also noticed they have a chefs table next to the kitchen). You can choose 4 or 6 courses but that's the only choice you get! The meal is a complete surprise (though the menu was rolled up in a little holder on the table if we wanted a sneak peak to what was coming) which really gives the kitchen creativity. I chose the 4, my husband the 6. They were also very accommodating with me being pregnant, offering mocktails and making sure things were cooked through which I appreciated. The "mushroom" dessert was my favorite though - it was absolutely delicious and so fun. A few small things - they seemed to have a hard time regulating the air temperature. For most of the meal we were warm and then half way through the air came on and it was cooler, but then turned off and it got warm again. We also sat next to a large table of 7 who got louder as their drinks flowed but their dishes definitely held up the kitchen. We weren't in a rush or anything but noticed some of our dishes taking longer because of the big table.

My friend who visited Quebec recently highly recommended Le Clan so our group of 4 made a reservation during our trip.  Their kitchen is actually on ground floor and the restaurant is upstairs.  They have an extensive tasting menu which was inspired by different regions of Canada.  Due to our diet restrictions we ordered a la carte and our friends ordered the tasting menu, Be prepared for a 3 hours long dinner if you get the tasting menu. Service was attentive, their menu was only in French but our waiter was very patience and explain everything.  Their house complimentary bread with soft butter was the best, there was no shame in asking for 2nds...or 3rd basket for us.  I got the lobster bisque and the lobster tail entree. Hubby got a salad, scallop appetizer and also the lobster tail entree. Our friends enjoyed their 4 course tasting menu and even shared their dessert with us.  There was a miscommunication in our friends' order, however the manager took care of it right away. Their service here is top notch and the food is excellent.

Was able to make last minute reservation on my last night, and I am so pleased with this restaurant. Service far exceeds all other restaurants that I have been to, and food was delicate and amazing! Atmosphere was great! I picked the 4 course menuless meal, and it felt like 9 course. Even the bread is soo good and soft that I want to go back for more. Highly recommend!!!

Doesn't look like much from the street. But once you walk upstairs, you feel like you've been transported to a completely different place. We had the 6 course menu with a wine pairing. Each course was exquisite and the wine pairing was perfection. Our server Julie explained every dish and pairing. Pace was slow compared to "normal" restaurants but it allowed for us to thoroughly enjoy each portion of the evening. It's a bit pricey but so worth it!

We called and received a same day reservation on a Tuesday evening, and were the last guests to be seated in the cozy main dining room of Le Clan. Antoine, the sommelier, greeted us unassumingly, letting us know our table was almost ready and that Julia would be our server for the evening. And oh what an evening... Julia carefully explained the 4-course, 6-course, and a la cart menu as well as the wine pairings to go with each and gracefully accepted my wish to substitute veal for something else. In the end, we chose one 4-course plus oysters a la carte with the 4-course "exceptional" wine pairings and one 6-course with the 6-course pairings. Oooh la la ... la la la la! Antoine came over to explain the wines and has an encyclopedic knowledge of wines, the varietal grapes, the geology and geography of France and Spain, even managing to come up with the flavor one of the exceptional wines reminded me of (a white priorat), and ever increasing array of dazzling and fascinating wines to sample with the meal. Formidable! And the food... also one of the best meals in my life. Look at the photos and then GO! You will not be disappointed no matter how high your standards aim - simply MAGNIFIQUE!

It was directly in front of and below the bar such that you could both eat dinner and drink at the bar simultaneously. Totally unacceptable. We requested a change to either outdoors or another indoor table which was away from the bar in a corner toward the front of the place. Both were instantly denied with no reasonable alternative suggested by the owner himself, short of waiting an hour for a different table to open. I understand places like to get rid of their undesirable tables but do not foist this onto patrons who have booked weeks to a month in advance! We ended up not eating there at all and went to a vastly superior spot near the FRONTENAC , LE CONTINENTAL- excellent in all aspects! Bottom line - stay away from BISTRO St- MALO- un accommodating and using totally undesirable tables so close to the bar that you may as well be drinking your dinner instead of eating it! This place is NOT recommended by me.There are numerous better choices in QUEBEC CITY with its hundreds of wonderful places to select. Who needs this type of aggravation? Zero stars from me!

We had: - house lemonade - the foie gras seed butter and blueberry jam app; this is served on a broiche with a large amount of foie gras and homemade roasted sunflower seed butter; this was a very flavorful and filling starter for two - Poulet de Cornouailles - cornish roasted hen (the whole bird, small); was very delicate, served on mashed turnips, topped with an artistic grilled turnip and other veggies to cover the protein, it was a great experience to taste each component of the dish and have it come together well - veal flank steak with sauce on carrot puree and bitter vegetables - dessert (which changes frequently) was an artistic experience, a spiced cake with sauce, a uniquely (not my favorite) ice cream with candied bitter citrus peel served on top of toasted granola/sweetened biscuits The serving staff was super knowledgeable and presented each course and dish when served with further explanations on the ingredients, process, as well as how to best experience the dish. We cannot complain about that. Our server was friendly and very charming. The meal was beautifully paced. The restaurant itself is very noisy. The food itself was disappointing. On the recommendation of our server we started with the carrot doughnut. The doughnut itself was lost under a mountain of ricotta. I would not have known that it was carrot, except that she had told us. We ordered two other starters : I ordered the foie gras pate and my boyfriend ordered the fried oysters. The pate was served on a small layer of sunflower butter, which was unnecessary. The pate itself was surprisingly flavorless. Homemade bread and blueberry jam served alongside was quite good. The fried oysters were completely drowned in buffalo sauce, another green sauce and "blue cheese foam". I would not have even known they were oysters. They were served underneath some cucumbers and peppers and lettuce. For our main course, we shared the blood pudding, which, despite the crazy number of ingredients actually was delicious. It was the best thing we ate. It was served with homemade bacon, a roasted artichoke heart, and some mussels croquettes. Seriously a lot going on. For dessert we ordered the spiced orchard dacquoise. Another complex, and I thought overly complicated dish, that my boyfriend felt worked well. It was presented nicely, and I remembered to get a picture of it. All in all, it seemed like there's just way too much going on in each dish and no particular flavor stands out. Two of the dishes, the fried oysters and the carrot doughnut were just sloppy and smothered. The boudin and the dessert were both beautifully plated, and the flavors worked better as well. The foie gras appetizer was unfortunately bland, and the main ingredient did not shine. Maybe it was an off night? Maybe we didn't order the best things? Evidently, they're doing something right because they've been going for 50 years, but we just didn't see that.

We were underdressed, but the host basically was like "the dress code is only for the waitstaff, you are fine." So the place is definitely welcoming and had a nice vibe. Waitstaff was fully bilingual though the vibe of the place is more Francophone than Quebec tourist. The food is cooked technically very well, though the portions are small, particularly our scallop appetizer which was maybe 2 scallops. The food was very good, but for the price it wasn't amazing, amazing. My wife said her trout for example was a bith mushy. I had the beef and it was very good. I'd happily it that and the scallop dish (maybe I'd order two, lol) again. Cocktails were also very good. Then there was the pre-dinner mackrel rolled in seaweed. Totally fine but an odd choice to give to all the diners. Also, the bread was only so-so (I got a better loaf tonight at Farm Boy) and the pepper butter and fois-gras butter were sort of tasteless. Again this is a solid restaurant and despite being 'fancy' had a very unpretentious vibe about it, which I appreciated. But the price feels a bit high, and the service was quite slow. So for me, it is a 4, but except for a restaurant I ate with friends in Montreal in 2018 (the name of which I am forgetting) and a really excellent spot on Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, the it is probably the best restaurant I've eaten at in Quebec.

This is a very small place, cozy and atmospheric. If there are just two of you, sitting at the bar is the way to go. It's where you really feel the vibe and see what makes this place so special. The food is off the hook, and changes so frequently that it's pointless for me to highlight specific dishes. We had an amazing charred broccolli, a seasonal morel dish, razor clams, and unique egg mayo concoction. Doesn't matter. the food will be exceptional whatever they are serving. Thier Michelin Bib Gourmand (exceptional food at reasonable prices) designation is well deserved. But if the soul of Buvette Scott is the food, the heart is Marine, who appeared to be the only server on duty while we were there. She is a transplanted Brit (I believe), with a quick smile and a sassy outlook. Even as busy as she was, she had the time to engage us and make us feel like we were old friends. Stories were told, laughing was had. We were the last two left from the first dinner seating that day, and Marine and part of the kitchen team sat at the bar with us as we finished and shared insights about Quebec City and how they ended up there. Rarely have I felt so comfortable and at home in a place I have never been before. Really good restaurants serve up really good food... But truly great restaurants provide an experience that impacts you on many levels, and holds a place in your memory. Buvette Scott is a truly great restaurant.

The small diverse menu celebrates seasonal ingredients and provides a wonderful example of the outstanding food scene in Quebec that so many people talk about. Highly recommend!

The wait staff was very nice and our waitress explained the entire menu to us, dish by dish. We had the mozzarella/tomato dish to start. I had the gnocchi dish and my mom had the catch of the day which was cod I think. The gnocchi was good but very rich. The hollandaise, the creamy egg, I think there were onions in there.. it was very very rich that it was almost hard to finish.. My mom's dish was delicious as well! For dessert we had the lavender, Chantilly, biscuit thing. It was eh. I wish they had a chocolate dish in the menu.

The presentation of the food was probably the best part it felt like being in a art exhibit but you get to taste the art, I'd say that the food we ordered is definitely an acquired taste I prefer less sour/ bitter taste and I found that the dishes we ordered had a earthy flavour and the bitterness you get when eating a lemon/lime, is that a bad thing no I could understand why someone with a different taste would enjoy the dishes, overall happy with the experience but would try other dishes next time
