It's on the expensive side but try go there for lunch. For $39 Canadian dollars you get to have soup/ salad, an appetizer, and an entree. With additional $5, you get to have dessert. Strongly recommend the charcuterie board and the asparagus risotto. The halibut tail was fresh. The service was great. We had no reservations and got there around 1:40, they accommodated us. But be aware the kitchen closes at 2, you will need to order fast. The restaurant was cute.

Le Clan is not a cheap date night out, but, as far as tastings go, it is a lot of amazing food for the money spent. The atmosphere is playful with all the Jackalobes mounted on the wall, and that adventurous spirit carries through the service and to the food presentation as well. Much has been written regarding the individual courses, so I won't go into detail on the food. My martini with pickled mushroom was surprisingly good! Perfect night in Quebec City!

Exquisite and reasonably priced prix fixe menu in a classy, comfy space with impeccable service. We got the 4 dish for $89CAD (at this writing only $64USD). Next time we do the 6 dish! Every morsel was delicious. Two perfect amuse bouche were served, pork cracklin and fried mussel, then I was a bit anxious about the first crab salad course since in was miniscule. However, the subsequent stellar plates were better sized. The standouts were the veal (local small farm like everything here) and rhubarb dessert three ways. They even had an extra dessert amuse bouche!

Wow. We went for brunch, which was three courses with a lot of sharing. I am pescatarian, and they substituted delicious risotto and fish for the meat my parents ate. You get to see the kitchen as you enter, and then you eat upstairs. The atmosphere is nice, not over the top, but very tasteful. The service was what you would expect from a restaurant with a Michelin star, very helpful, but not obtrusive. The food was incredible. The standouts for me were the fondue croquettes and the scones, but everything was delicious. I would highly recommend.

Wow, what an amazing experience. This is in an old townhouse with the kitchen on the main floor and seating on the 2nd. Note: this restaurant is not ADA accessible. The decor is fisherman/ hunter, with animal heads and pictures of fish on the walls. My Mom and I chose the 6 course tasting menu with their mocktails. The count is closer to 11, than 6 if you count the 2 amuse bouche and the pre-dessert. The 1st amuse bouche was a pork belly crackling with a dipping sauce (wish I'd taken a picture) , which was very crunchy, though light. The Next amuse bouche was a croquette of mussels mixed with a mild andouillie sausage, deep fried in a light batter.along with fresh baked bread. Next was a halibut in a corn sauce, then the arctic char (so buttery) on top of fresh peas, green onion, and petite penne with a light cream sauce. The Next course was my favorite, which was the smoked sturgeon with a venison rag out and a light "soup", followed by lamb prepared 2 ways that came with a lentil puree, with the last meat course of duck with a squash puree. Next came the pre-dessert (yes, you read that right & we had to laugh) of a petite strawberry shortcake. Finally, we were served dessert, which were 3 rhubarb dishes with the 1st being a white chocolate mousse over a blonde with a rhubarb gelee, a rhubarb sorbet with crispy rice, and finally a tartlet of rhubarb gelee with a torched meringue on top. The mocktails the paied with each course were wonderful. The 1st one was an elderberry spritz that I wish they would bottle. So good. Highly recommend.

We came here for a tasting menu with a food tour group. Love that they are using all local ingredients and giving you a taste of quebec. The smoked mussel was delicious. The presentation of the dish was spot on.

What a great meal in the heart of Quebec City! It was only a few blocks away from our hotel which was very convenient and when you arrive, you walk past the kitchen and up the stairs (we also noticed they have a chefs table next to the kitchen). You can choose 4 or 6 courses but that's the only choice you get! The meal is a complete surprise (though the menu was rolled up in a little holder on the table if we wanted a sneak peak to what was coming) which really gives the kitchen creativity. I chose the 4, my husband the 6. They were also very accommodating with me being pregnant, offering mocktails and making sure things were cooked through which I appreciated. The "mushroom" dessert was my favorite though - it was absolutely delicious and so fun. A few small things - they seemed to have a hard time regulating the air temperature. For most of the meal we were warm and then half way through the air came on and it was cooler, but then turned off and it got warm again. We also sat next to a large table of 7 who got louder as their drinks flowed but their dishes definitely held up the kitchen. We weren't in a rush or anything but noticed some of our dishes taking longer because of the big table.

My friend who visited Quebec recently highly recommended Le Clan so our group of 4 made a reservation during our trip.  Their kitchen is actually on ground floor and the restaurant is upstairs.  They have an extensive tasting menu which was inspired by different regions of Canada.  Due to our diet restrictions we ordered a la carte and our friends ordered the tasting menu, Be prepared for a 3 hours long dinner if you get the tasting menu. Service was attentive, their menu was only in French but our waiter was very patience and explain everything.  Their house complimentary bread with soft butter was the best, there was no shame in asking for 2nds...or 3rd basket for us.  I got the lobster bisque and the lobster tail entree. Hubby got a salad, scallop appetizer and also the lobster tail entree. Our friends enjoyed their 4 course tasting menu and even shared their dessert with us.  There was a miscommunication in our friends' order, however the manager took care of it right away. Their service here is top notch and the food is excellent.

Was able to make last minute reservation on my last night, and I am so pleased with this restaurant. Service far exceeds all other restaurants that I have been to, and food was delicate and amazing! Atmosphere was great! I picked the 4 course menuless meal, and it felt like 9 course. Even the bread is soo good and soft that I want to go back for more. Highly recommend!!!

Doesn't look like much from the street. But once you walk upstairs, you feel like you've been transported to a completely different place. We had the 6 course menu with a wine pairing. Each course was exquisite and the wine pairing was perfection. Our server Julie explained every dish and pairing. Pace was slow compared to "normal" restaurants but it allowed for us to thoroughly enjoy each portion of the evening. It's a bit pricey but so worth it!

We called and received a same day reservation on a Tuesday evening, and were the last guests to be seated in the cozy main dining room of Le Clan. Antoine, the sommelier, greeted us unassumingly, letting us know our table was almost ready and that Julia would be our server for the evening. And oh what an evening... Julia carefully explained the 4-course, 6-course, and a la cart menu as well as the wine pairings to go with each and gracefully accepted my wish to substitute veal for something else. In the end, we chose one 4-course plus oysters a la carte with the 4-course "exceptional" wine pairings and one 6-course with the 6-course pairings. Oooh la la ... la la la la! Antoine came over to explain the wines and has an encyclopedic knowledge of wines, the varietal grapes, the geology and geography of France and Spain, even managing to come up with the flavor one of the exceptional wines reminded me of (a white priorat), and ever increasing array of dazzling and fascinating wines to sample with the meal. Formidable! And the food... also one of the best meals in my life. Look at the photos and then GO! You will not be disappointed no matter how high your standards aim - simply MAGNIFIQUE!

    Moules-mussels flan

Wow, wow, wow! This was one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. I'm glad I saw the gentleman standing outside the door so I knew they were open! (Yelps hours were not updated). First, the greeter explains the menu so that you know what to expect before getting a table. When you walk in, you see the kitchen. The host then pushes a button on the door and the door opens to a stairway. At the top of the stairs is another host to seat you. I was alone and they sat me at a high top table that kind of overlooked the room. I felt a bit on display, but it was super comfortable and cozy. My server, Yulia was phenomenal! She was adorable and clearly explained the menu and the course options. She was such a great salesperson that I definitely over ordered. I started with a glass of champagne and oysters. The oysters were fresh and so tasty. There was no rushing here-they gave time to enjoy every bite and explained the origins of the food in each course and described all ingredients. I chose the 4 course meal with the lower priced wine paring. The wines all went perfectly with each course. For the 4 course meal, they brought out a beef tartare tartelette. This might have been my favorite! I then had the mussel flan with a fresh mussel on top. It was so good. And the bread they give you is truly irresistible! The next course was the salmon which was probably my true favorite. So fresh, flavorful. The next course was the veal. It was well seasoned, but it was a bit rare for me. It was probably my least favorite but I think a lot of people would like it. Before the 4th course, dessert, they gave me a pre dessert! Another favorite-it was basically a lychee ball in liqueur and I could have eaten a big bowl of it! The dessert was a road trip in Quebec with ingredients from different areas. I really liked the one that was ice cream like (the white one). This was an incredible experience and was worth every penny. The service was outstanding and j would highly recommend you try Le Clan while in Quebec City!

With the dynamic trio of Philippe Racine, Philippe Fournier, and Andréa Beauseigle at the helm, this newly minted bistro is not just a meal; it's an experience that speaks to the heart of local gastronomy. As we stepped into the inviting atmosphere of Bistro St. Malo, we were immediately struck by the relaxed ambience that feels both chic and comforting. The decor is a perfect marriage of rustic elegance and modern flair, setting the stage for an unforgettable evening. The menu, crafted with both passion and precision, beckoned us to explore a variety of tempting dishes. We kicked off our culinary journey with the Mussels Marinière, bathed in a heavenly concoction of wine and garlic. Each bite was a succulent reminder of the sea, perfectly paired with crusty bread that could easily become a new best friend. Next on the list was the Soupe à l'Oignon, a classic French onion soup that was nothing short of a warm hug in a bowl. The rich broth, adorned with a gooey layer of melted cheese, transported us straight to a cozy Parisian bistro. Now, if you think escargots are just a fancy way to say "snails," think again. The Escargots Gratinés at Bistro St. Malo are a revelation, baked to perfection with a garlicky herb butter that made us rethink our long-held beliefs about these little treasures. For the main event, we indulged in the Joue de Bœuf sauce Robert, a sous-vide masterpiece that had been lovingly cooked for 30 hours. The beef cheek was so tender it practically melted on the fork, paired with a creamy potato purée and vegetables roasted in duck fat--a dish that could make even the most steadfast vegetarian reconsider their choices. We couldn't resist diving into the Ragoût de la Mer, a seafood stew that was a celebration of the ocean's bounty. With scallops, shrimp, lobster, cod, tuna, and salmon mingling in a rich bisque, this dish was a symphony of flavors that sang the praises of the fresh local products so central to the bistro's philosophy. Bistro St. Malo is more than just a meal; it's a culinary journey that pays homage to both French tradition and the vibrant tastes of the Mediterranean. If you find yourself wandering the charming streets of Quebec City, do yourself a favor and make your way to 75 St-Paul Street. You might just discover your new favorite dining spot.

A Delicious Lunch in the Heart of Old Québec…read more We stopped into Lapin Sauté for lunch following a wonderful walking tour of Old Québec, and it proved to be the perfect place to relax and enjoy a memorable meal. Both of us opted for the table d'hôte menu, which included an appetizer, main course, dessert, and tea or coffee. We happily paid the small supplement to begin with the Duck Foie Gras served with strawberry-rhubarb jam and brioche--a decision we did not regret for a second. The foie gras was rich and silky, while the sweet-tart jam provided a beautiful contrast. For our entrées, I chose the Pulled Rabbit Poutine with devil's sauce. Comfort food elevated to another level, it was hearty, flavorful, and utterly satisfying. My dining partner selected the Cassoulet with duck sausage and duck leg confit. While the duck was excellent, it was the beans that stole the show--perfectly cooked, deeply flavored, and exactly what a great cassoulet should be. We finished with desserts: a traditional Far Breton for me and a beautifully executed Crème Brûlée for my dining partner. Both were wonderful endings to an already excellent meal. The service was warm and attentive, the ambiance charming and inviting, and the food delicious from beginning to end. Located in the heart of Old Québec, Lapin Sauté is exactly the kind of restaurant travelers hope to discover--authentic, welcoming, and serving food that leaves a lasting impression. We cannot complain about that. Our server was friendly and very charming. The meal was beautifully paced. The restaurant itself is very noisy. The food itself was disappointing. On the recommendation of our server we started with the carrot doughnut. The doughnut itself was lost under a mountain of ricotta. I would not have known that it was carrot, except that she had told us. We ordered two other starters : I ordered the foie gras pate and my boyfriend ordered the fried oysters. The pate was served on a small layer of sunflower butter, which was unnecessary. The pate itself was surprisingly flavorless. Homemade bread and blueberry jam served alongside was quite good. The fried oysters were completely drowned in buffalo sauce, another green sauce and "blue cheese foam". I would not have even known they were oysters. They were served underneath some cucumbers and peppers and lettuce. For our main course, we shared the blood pudding, which, despite the crazy number of ingredients actually was delicious. It was the best thing we ate. It was served with homemade bacon, a roasted artichoke heart, and some mussels croquettes. Seriously a lot going on. For dessert we ordered the spiced orchard dacquoise. Another complex, and I thought overly complicated dish, that my boyfriend felt worked well. It was presented nicely, and I remembered to get a picture of it. All in all, it seemed like there's just way too much going on in each dish and no particular flavor stands out. Two of the dishes, the fried oysters and the carrot doughnut were just sloppy and smothered. The boudin and the dessert were both beautifully plated, and the flavors worked better as well. The foie gras appetizer was unfortunately bland, and the main ingredient did not shine. Maybe it was an off night? Maybe we didn't order the best things? Evidently, they're doing something right because they've been going for 50 years, but we just didn't see that.

Waitstaff was fully bilingual though the vibe of the place is more Francophone than Quebec tourist. The food is cooked technically very well, though the portions are small, particularly our scallop appetizer which was maybe 2 scallops. The food was very good, but for the price it wasn't amazing, amazing. My wife said her trout for example was a bith mushy. I had the beef and it was very good. I'd happily it that and the scallop dish (maybe I'd order two, lol) again. Cocktails were also very good. Then there was the pre-dinner mackrel rolled in seaweed. Totally fine but an odd choice to give to all the diners. Also, the bread was only so-so (I got a better loaf tonight at Farm Boy) and the pepper butter and fois-gras butter were sort of tasteless. Again this is a solid restaurant and despite being 'fancy' had a very unpretentious vibe about it, which I appreciated. But the price feels a bit high, and the service was quite slow. So for me, it is a 4, but except for a restaurant I ate with friends in Montreal in 2018 (the name of which I am forgetting) and a really excellent spot on Les Îles-de-la-Madeleine, the it is probably the best restaurant I've eaten at in Quebec.
