Piping hot onion soup -- lobster hash for the other diner. Where is the baguette?
    Michelle A.

Holiday panic in Sharon means that the warm baguette arrives 20 minutes after the onion soup was served and required multiple requests. Fortunately, the soup was piping hot and the neighboring tables very entertaining -- shades of John Updike. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Noise level rose as the bloody Marys were served around the room![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

The 4 stars are for the food ordered. The New England clam chowder was one of the best I've had in the north east area outside of New England. The chowder are seasonal. They didn't just have soup but heaped in lots of solid clam, potatoes and such. The butter sugar crepe was the right amount of thin batter and flavor while the pomme frites was the perfect thick steak cut and crisp. The croque monsuier was way better than Chez Alice with a generous amount of tasty crispy yet melting cheese on top of the bread as a tiny amount of salad like. Oh, the fresh squeezed orange juice was sweet and so fresh though surprisingly small. There are 2 things that took this away from the 5 star with one being the service being a little bit lacking when you first enter and waiting to be seated then wondering if the waitress forgot about you but it's all because she's the only one serving the entire rows of outdoor tables so be prepared to wait a bit. Secondly, the price is towards the higher end of "upper pricing" for a casual dining experience but nevertheless good food. This was for the middle of the week lunch time dine in so I can only imagine the weekend or evening hours. There is only 1 toilet stall per male and female and ADA accessible. Parking in the shared lot.

Saw the review on Yelp and decided to give it a try. I am so happy that we did! I've been to France and this place brought back memories of my vacation there. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor is on point as a French brasserie.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] French speaking managers and some French speaking wait staff contributed to the ambiance. We went there for lunch and had the escargot, New England clam chowder, crepe and the quiche du jour. Suffice it to say, all were great. Yes the clam chowder is not French but it was so good. Plenty of clams and bacon bits. However, we were disappointed that they sold out of the croissant. So what did we do? Go back the next morning to try the croissant. Boy were we glad we did. Sufficient to say, it was great enough to take a motorcycle the next morning to pick up more.

Something about the building is familiar. An old McDonald's building, painted & reimagined. But the shape, the floors match the McDonald's from the memory of your youth. They've upgraded the vibe to be "upscale fast food", comfortable & chic booths, a beautiful fireplace I'd love to cozy up near in the winter, a stunning bathroom. The menu is calculated, purposeful: local ingredients from farms & local suppliers listed on a chalkboard, seasonal elements utilized to create fresh, mindful meals. There's a burger, a chicken sandwich, mushroom melt, steak, seasonal salads. Their burger is juicy, well-structured, perfectly seasoned. Their tallow fries are the perfect amount of crisp and fluffy interior, truly delicious--a hand cut fry that fast food could nevahhhh accomplish. We loved the grilled peach, heirloom tomato & burrata salad. It was fresh, drizzled with balsamic and oil, peppered with togarishi. There were three workers there: all of whom greeted us warmly, made us feel like family. You can watch the chef, Nate, whipping up your food right behind the counter, locked in and serious about providing you with a supreme experience. Austin, one of the owners, rolled out the dough used for the fresh buns. We witnessed the makings of our meal, every step, right in front of our eyes. My only complaint is I don't live in millerton, and I know I will crave this meal time and time again. I wish I could be right down the road, when a burger craving consumes me. But trust that I will be back to visit & to try their other seasonal options, as well as breakfast and dinner. Thank you team for a wonderful experience!

We ordered the spicy sausage with fig appetizer (This was the star of the show! we got another order!) 2 orders of butternut squash soup and grilled octopus for apps to share. We also requested more bread and were served fresh baked rolls that were so good! We ordered the pistachio crusted pork chop and shrimp risotto for entrees. The 2 people that ordered butternut squash soup were a split decision on it. One loved it the other hated it. I tried it. I thought it tasted really good but i don't think i could eat a whole bowl of it. It was too sweet. The Octopus was excellent! The Spicy sausage with fig was amazing. This is a definite thing to order. The pistachio crusted pork chop was very good. I didn't love the risotto. Above all, it's the rare hotel where you really feel like the stay was a great value for your money. My only suggestions would be brighter lighting in the rooms, more varied coffees with breakfast (hard to suggest when Irving Farm is steps away, though!), and maybe extra blankets in each room during the colder months. Gracie's is an elevated diner experience...all the breakfast and brunch things you could want, but up a couple levels from a classic greasy spoon diner. Not dissing the greasy spoon diner experience...love that...but this is based in that historical experience, with an overall nicer experience in terms of food and atmosphere. Also, before we get into the specifics, here are 2 words which would bring me in from just about anywhere: Donut menu. Yes, they make their own donuts here, and that's enough reason to stop in, take out, or worship at the front door. We got our donuts to go after the meal...The coffee was GREAT. Too often, coffee, which should be the opening star of a diner experience, can be flavorless, browned water. Here it was good. Bold as I needed it to be, and the perfect foundation for the rest of the meal. My next go-to if they have it brunch experience is biscuits. They have them...you can get a biscuit on its own or, heck, go for a mini biscuit basket! I live for a biscuit-forward establishment. The Full Breakfast (submitting biscuit or potatoes for the meat) would have been my choice, but I decided to roll my own and ended up with a biscuit, fruit cup, and side of Hash Browns. The biscuit was good, large, and perfect with butter and honey. They make the hash browns to order - large hash brown patties - and with 2 different orders of them at the table, one was overcooked, too brown, and not impressive...but the other was perfect and delicious...bordering on potato pancake territory in presentation and flavor. Our server was fantastic...we had a large party encompassing 3 different tables in the middle of a Sunday morning (On Easter no less), which is, of course, the busiest time of the week. She was friendly, enthusiastic, and never made us feel rushed. If I found myself in the Hudson Valley again, Gracie's would be a definite destination for me.

This a worthwhile place to pop in for a good meal in a nice…read moreriver view location. There are plenty of pleasant surprises on the menu for all sorts of diners. Our server was friendly. I hate to leave a harsh review but I see others have had the exact same complaints and this isn't my first bad experience here. Once we sat down and had our sandwich orders taken it was at least an hour till our food was out. I had to go to the kitchen after about 45 minutes and they said, oh, it is right here and brought out the bread/ biscuits app someone had asked for. Bread = 45 minutes. The rest of the entrees then trickled out slowly one by one ensuring half the table were done eating before the last salad finally arrived. We had assumed our server's shift had ended because I never saw her again in the restaurant until I went up to get the check form the cashier. She thenpopped out from somewhere to take over printing out my check. I suspect we were auto-gratuitied looking back but she never mentioned it. I failed to check and was just dying to get out of there It seemed like there were lots of staff but where are they and what are they doing?? . People at tables were just rubbernecking around looking for someone. No one was on the floor. No one was out in the tables. No one was watching food, timing, drinks, turning the tables, etc. It was busy when we arrived but almost empty by the time we left. We were there for over 2 hours. I wonder if there are systems in place that were created out of inexperience and are now the sunk cost way of running things. Are there sections? Does the hostess know how to manage pacing? Does the server understand timing and to check the tables? I don't mean to sound pedantic, I just don't think there are people here who understand that the job is to manage the flow, "but was it busy?" Yes, it is supposed to be. If you cannot serve someone, you need to wait to seat them. If you can't handle the tables, close a section. Just filling tables and figuring it out is unfair to diners. Thank god you can go to the front to get your check or we might still be there. :( No owner response needed

I also had the best service. I live in San Francisco and needed to find a place to bake a birthday cake for my mother-in-law's 90th birthday party. 24 people were gathering at Interlaken Inn to celebrate. I reached out to about 3 places and Peg got back to me immediately--all via email. Through email I told her we wanted a chocolate cake with fresh fruit and whip cream in the middle. She said she needed to make two 9" rounds to feed the 24 of us. I picked up the cake on Saturday afternoon and asked for two sandwiches to go (turkey)) and they were both delicious, FYI! Saturday evening we celebrated at the Millerton Inn Restaurant. The kitchen put a candle on the cake (we had forgotten!) and after we sang Happy Birthday they cut the cakes and handed out the slices. There are NO WORDS to describe how much every single person in our group raved over this cake! It was super moist. The fresh fruit brought a lovely light acidity to the chocolate, and the whip cream was light and not too sweet. The cake wasn't too sweet either. My stepdaughter's husband actually never eats cake because he thinks it is too sweet and honestly, we couldn't stop him from seconds (and thirds) and each time he was in awe of how much he loved it! I didn't hear my mocha being called because it was very noisy, but I got up and picked up the wrong drink, and when I returned it (because it wasn't mine) the young lady barista said "I called out mint mocha," very snobbishly and looking like "shame on you, you drank it and now I have to throw it out." It's a very loud place and I never heard the "mint" part. Yet she looked at me like I was a pond scum, and I ruined her life because she'd have ti make another drink. I watched her remove take the drink that I had taken a sip of, and call out the proper name for that drink and then she looked at me, and made sure I saw her throw it out, while disgusted with me.
