Mr. Love runs and owns this place all alone. He makes everything from scratch except the pickles, bread or chips. My bf and I went to lunch today and each had the 3 meat combo with two sides for less than $19 together. I got the ribs, brisket, hot links (they're housemade too), baked beans and chips. The ribs were the best I've ever tasted in my life. LITERALLY EVER. The owner shared with us that the leftover meat all goes into the beans and they were damn near life-changing. I tried the hot bbq sauce and it was just perfect. My bf had pulled pork, brisket and ribs with cole slaw and potato salad. It was Carolina cole slaw which I prefer to other variations. The potato salad was absolute perfection, just like your memom always made (if you're from the south). Everything was perfect. Mr. Love shared that he supports his two daughters and if they need something, he closes his restaurant and takes care of them. He also closes when he runs out of food. I'm don't know how we got so lucky that he still had so many options at 2pm in the afternoon on a Saturday, but we did. At that point, he was out of chicken and turkey, so a return visit is in order. As others have mentioned, it is cash only. You'll leave perfectly satisfied but not heavy or feeling sick. It is absolutely perfect and Mr. Love will give you clear directions. He's not your usual restaurant owner and manager but he may be the best in his unique way.

The owner makes and prepares hid food fresh every day!

This is some of the best BBQ we have sunk our teeth into in recent days. The owner makes his BBQ daily, his own sauce (I'd like a bottle to go!) his own potato salad and coleslaw, his own beans. We got the 3-meat with beans and coleslaw. We tried brisket, turkey and pork butts. He cut a bun in half, as we were sharing. We sopped up every delectable bite! I did not care for the coleslaw. It was good, don't get me wrong, but I prefer the creamy type and this was an oil-based with obvious sugar. Hubby thought it was great! The coleslaw is corse-chopped, so you can tell it's hand- made. The beans were simmered to perfection. Drinks are located in an old, battered refrigerator. Help yourself, ring out when you are finished. When you leave, people will know you are there, because you will smell like delicious smoke! Don't forget a take home menu so you can order ahead next time. I know you will want to. They are located next to the radio on the table by the wall, along with napkins and forks. You can dine in OR carry out. They do catering, too!

Absolutely the best BBQ we've ever had. We are from Lawrence, KS and we were passing through on our way to get a pup. We decided to give it a try and we were not disappointed at all. Great prices, great friendly service, and amazing food. I wish we lived closer because we'd definitely go there all the time! If you are a fan of BBQ and are in Newton, KS be sure to stop in and get a plate you won't regret it!!

Hidden gem! Great ribs and the Good News of Jesus Christ! The owner is keeping it simple and supporting his family with this friendly, soulful hole in the wall BBQ joint.

The family meal, says it will feed four. It will feed a whole lot more then four!

Honestly great food…read more My wife and I tried almost everything as we were on vacation and try and stop at local places. The ribs were by far the best thing if you like dry rub, good (not overwhelming smoke) and great meat quality. The sauces were not watered down and runny but a great consistency and a solid offering from your typical sweet, medium, hickory, and hot. The golden one was not any type of mustard style I've tried. We also really enjoyed the pit ham and hot links. The other meats were decent. The only meat we didn't care for was the turkey, it definitely tasted like a pre-pumped turkey with a slightly metallic / saline taste you get with pumped products. Overall great BBQ meats. The sides were a little more hit and miss. The okra is definitely something worth stopping for. It was fresh, hand battered and sprinkled with their house rub seasoning and utterly fantastic. We also really enjoyed their potato salad, if it was Sysco special you had us duped! The Mac and cheese like most joints was from a boil bag and the coleslaw though EXTREMELY fresh left a little to be desired as it hadn't marinated enough to really pack some flavor in. The staff was friendly but the young girl working the counter wasn't quite sure of the meats and how they were prepared. We were looking for bone in turkey or chicken and she didn't know. Over all really nice and the food was prepared in the open kitchen and quickly brought out! The place could use some TLC and a little degreaser as the floor was a little slick and tacky. Trash was picked up but a little after hours scrubbing and I think it would really stand out. This is a Coke products restaurant so Pepsi people don't bother stopping LOL. Our next time thru McPherson we will be stopping.

She chose Roy's Hickory Smoked BBQ, and wow, are we glad she did! Pulling up, I was a little skeptical at first, but there were a few cars outside so we decided to give it a try. I hadn't paid attention to the hours on Yelp, and when I saw the sign on the door that said "11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. or until sold out," I told my wife, "Hopefully they still have some food left!" As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by that wonderful smoky barbecue aroma. We looked over the menu board and my wife chose the two-meat platter with ribs and brisket. It came with two sides from the cold case, beans, corn, pickles, and a drink. I ordered the brisket and ham sandwich, which also included two sides, beans, corn, homemade pickles, and a drink. The prices were very reasonable. After selecting our sides, we grabbed a small plate of beans, corn, and homemade pickles and found a seat in the second dining room. The restaurant has a large community table in the front room along with additional seating in the other rooms. Before our main dishes even arrived, we were impressed. Wyatt came over and spent some time talking with us. He even brought us samples of the potato salad and pasta salad to try. Of all the sides, our favorites were the potato salad, creamy coleslaw, and the beans and corn. The pasta salad was good as well, although we thought the noodles could have been cooked just a little longer. Overall, this was some of the best barbecue we have ever had. We need a place like this back home in Maryland--it would be an absolute home run. Wyatt also gave us a few suggestions for things to do in town, including the salt mine and the space museum. We took his advice and toured the salt mine, which was over 650 feet underground and lasted more than two hours. It was an amazing experience and fascinating to see how everything is done. Great food, friendly people, reasonable prices, and local recommendations that turned into a memorable experience. Roy's Hickory Smoked BBQ was one of the highlights of our trip.

From the moment I walked in, I knew I was about to experience something special. My taste buds didn't just wake up -- they rejoiced! This wasn't just a meal; it was a full-blown experience wrapped in smoke and perfection. Let's talk about the legends first. Their smoked sausage gravy and biscuits, and Texas Twinkies have wowed me before, and I'm here to testify: they absolutely did not let me down this time. The biscuits and gravy were flawless -- perfectly tender biscuits smothered in rich, savory smoked sausage gravy that tasted like it was crafted with love and a little bit of magic. Every bite was comfort food at its highest level. And the Texas Twinkies - Amazingly indescribable. Smoky, cheesy, savory masterpieces with just the right kick -- the kind of bite that makes you pause mid-conversation just to appreciate what's happening. But now... the revelation. The new pork belly cinnamon rolls with frosting. Let me just say this: talk about melting in your mouth. Sweet, smoky pork belly wrapped in a delicious blend of warm cinnamon and brown sugar. Slowly melted into a sweet and Rich caramel-like sweetness and topped with luscious frosting. It was the kind of creation that makes you question why all cinnamon rolls aren't made this way. The balance of savory and sweet was nothing short of genius. Station 8 BBQ doesn't just serve food -- they serve moments. They serve joy. They serve flavors that linger in your memory long after the plate is clean. If you haven't made the pilgrimage yet, go. Your soul (and your stomach) will thank you.

Dear Bite Me Restaurant Management,…read more I am writing to formally report a serious concern following my visit with my husband to your restaurant on Saturday, April 18, 2026. Shortly after our visit, we both began experiencing symptoms consistent with food poisoning. My husband has had nausea and diarrhea since Sunday, and I have been dealing with diarrhea and an upset stomach throughout today. Neither of us has been able to keep food down properly since our visit. I called earlier today and spoke with a manager named Jess. During that conversation, I was told that because we ordered different items, it was unlikely the restaurant was responsible. However, I want to stress that foodborne illness can result from cross-contamination or shared ingredients, so the fact that we had different meals does not eliminate the possibility. This has been a very uncomfortable and concerning experience for both of us. At the very least, I believe this situation warrants serious attention to your food handling and safety practices. I would appreciate a thoughtful response regarding how you plan to address this matter. While we have already decided not to return, I hope you take this feedback seriously to prevent others from experiencing the same issue.
