Picture this: Friday afternoon, after traipsing from Uptown to BedStuy to get a color correction (thank you, Judith Essien!), I take a stroll along Macon and find this gem of a place. The literal definition of shabby chic in the interior, and just warm and cozy the minute you walk in. I am greeted by the most lovely server (Aziz? I tried looking for him later to get his name, but I'm sure he's West African like me). I ordered Crepe 31 (Smoked salmon, spinach, tomatoes, Swiss cheese and bechamel sauce) of the SPICY variety (they will ask you how spicy you want it); listen I was raised to love scotch bonnets, so I wanted this thing spicy and it was the best!!! What a great balance of creamy, spicy and savory! There's a plethora of crepe options, so I will definitely be back to try the other flavors! Also ordered the Bissap (shout out to the diaspora because this is Zobo in Naija, Sobolo in Ghana, and Sorrel in Jamaica) and it was everything!!! The right amount of tartness and spice. Met up with A and A goes out for coffee and pastry on an every day basis. I wanted to go to this other spot, but the spot didn't have any pastries left that A wanted and so we were walking around the hood and A just said let's come here, because they have crepes. The place is small and so the tables are very close together and everyone got the seats that were away from the windows. We had to sit there and be bothered by the annoying sun, but cap was good. A chowed down the crepe that A forgot to ask me if I wanted to try any, so I can't comment about the crepes. I would be down to come back when I have the room in my stomach for crepes! read more

Oh my. It's rare to find a place that warms your heart the moment you step through the doorway, the morning sun soaks the front half as a gentleman swirls a crepe into perfection. I love this place! The coffee is good, the crepes are great, and the owner-operator, Thiero, is the greatest. A cozy corner shop with so much charm. What I wrote about this place over ten years ago is still true: Very, very good crepes, both sweet and savory with a large selection of ingredients, served in a casual, friendly atmosphere. I didn't even plan to eat at Le Paris Dakar, but I'm happy that I did. I was briefly passing through the area for work and realized that I was hungry. The Jamaican bakery on the corner did not have patties and I scoffed at the idea of Applebees, or dealing with the madness that is Nostrand Ave and Fulton St. I was having such a chill Friday and wanted to maintain it. Le Paris Dakar was in front of me, so why not?! From outside, it looked small but cozy and clean. Upon entering, I was warmly greeted, Afrobeats softly played in the background and a few patrons comfortably sipped coffee and stared at their laptops. Looking at savory crepes, I had to make a decision (always an issue for me (guess my zodiac sign lol)). I decided on the barbecue chicken crepe, but switched out the cheddar cheese for Brie cheese. While I waited, I was given a sample of pineapple ginger juice, in lieu of another flavor. It was delicious, fresh, and spicy like me. I ordered a small cup, which is about 12 ounces. ME - an Aries Ram Black man instead of asking for help, I learned that honey and agave syrup look similar but taste differently. I didn't enjoy the coffee. In reflection I was not comfortable - it didn't feel like a safe place to admit mistakes and take up the resources to ask for a second cup of coffee made properly. I came here everyday for a pastry and coffee while staying in an Airbnb off Hancock Street. I bought the Nutella and strawberry crepe once, the pain au chocolat (chocolate croissant) twice, and the palmiers three times for after-work snacks. I love the palmiers. They're the best I've had. They're flaky and have a lovely caramelization on the bottom. The pain au chocolat was great too. I didn't love the crepes because I don't really like strawberries hot, and because there's a place in my hometown that makes bomb crepes with loads of whipped cream and fresh strawberries that're hard to compete with. The crepes at Le Paris Dakar are on the thicker, egg-ier side (not a bad thing, but I tend to like crepes thinner and more flour-y). The coffee is very good. Highly Aggressive Female Owner!!! I do not normally leave negative reviews, especially for small businesses, but I felt that future patrons of this establishment should be forewarned at how the female owner treats her regular customers. I go into the bakery, smiling and greeting the employee, giving her my usual order. Within a couple of minutes of being in the shop, I'm assailed by the female owner who accuses me a leaving her business a negative review. Then, it threatens me to never return to her establishment if I do not immediately delete the review. As I'm writing this, I'm still in great shock. I go to both locations several times a week, chatting with both the owner and employees, even once complimenting the owner on how polite her son was. What's mind-boggling is that the owner never stopped to ask herself if perhaps my Yelp account had been compromised. What sense would it make for me to leave a negative review, knowing that the owner will come across it and continue to go to the bakery on a regular basis. It's a real shame to run a business in such a fashion. I will happily go elsewhere. You didn't just lose one customer. read more

I would recommend skipping this cafe in Brooklyn. As soon as I finished my transaction, one of the staff shouted that there is a no laptop policy and she told me to go outside. If you're looking for a cozy place to quietly send some emails and have a bite or tea, I'd recommend any other cafe. Not to mention, their bathroom is not clean. The prices are better than most big name coffee shops and the quality of the drinks are better. They have plenty of options, bevys and pastries. But now there are 3-4. Viennoiseries are quite good. Never Tried the cakes, but the Paris-Brest looks very nice. This location gets super crazy on weekends so I avoid it then. When I went to sit down and glanced at the Wi-fi password the cashier pointed at the sign listing their no laptop policy . The password didn't work so I asked the clerk and he told me the sign was wrong and the actual way to type it in . The servers did mention that they are opening up a new spot as well, a couple of blocks from this one, where they will be serving senegalese food. This spot is self service, you go to the counter and order and then grab a table. They have a couple of planks outdoors where you can sit and enjoy your coffee too. They have coffee, tea, crepes and pastries. I did like the coffee here, I might make it my go to outdoor spot if its not crazy on the weekends. We also tried the crepes, the smoked salmon with behamel was delicious as was the ham and cheese. we got the cheesecake strawberry crepe for dessert, and while delicious, it wasnt very cheesecake-y. the servers are good, very helpful and the place is light and airy. we spent about 30$ for 3 crepes and coffee. Convenient location that gives you that "local coffee and crêpe" feeling and they have really good music playing, so overall the ambience is there. The caramel latte is really good and the egg, cheese, turkey, onion omelette crêpe large and fairly tasty as well. The only "not so great" thing is that unfortunately there are no computers allowed -- even with your own hotspot. This is the reason I'll likely not visit again, because I can get the same ambience and dining experience somewhere else that will allow me to knock out a few emails and do some work in the morning. read more
