Best in Breakfast. Le Peep has been one of those Houston institutions that hasn't changed in many years, and that's a good thing. It's only open till 2pm, which makes it one of those places that you have to get to early and makes it just unavailable enough to want to make a trip to eat from their menu. The lattice work partitions between the tables and fruit and vegetable artwork is a blast from the past. I kinda feel like I'm in Florida eating at a Golden Girls Early Bird Special. I think they may be moving. We drive down a side street near the restaurant and saw a new building going up and Le Peeps sign was on the outside. I'm sure some developer wants to demolish it in the name of putting up another overpriced clothing store for rich people. read more

With one glaring exception, everything I had here was average or slightly above average. The one saving grace of our visit was Tony. From the moment Tony showed up at our table, until the time we left, Tony was great. An exceptional waiter really makes a world of difference. He was enthusiastic. He was knowledgeable and really, really seemed to enjoy his job and restaurant. That's commendable in this day and age. We must have hit them before the breakfast rush on a weekend. We were seated almost immediately. There was a carafe of water waiting for us on the table. I was thirsty, so drained this almost immediately. (I'm sure my waitstaff hate me, but depending on time of day and activity, I could be super-thirsty.) The menu was appetizing and had several delicious looking items. I was a little perturbed to see only one pancake combo. You could upscale that to a waffle for an additional fee OR you can just get what you want and add a waffle or stack of pancakes, for something over $8. I'm not a super thrifty person, and I'll splurge when I see something I want, but that seems like ridiculous pricing for a waffle or two pancakes. The pancakes themselves were nothing to write home about. They were big and fluffy. But not outstanding. My eggs (with added cheese) were decent. If you could do half stars I would probably give Le Peep a 3.5, but since you can't I'm rounding up. Le Peep is a little pricier than a Denny's or an IHOP, but at the same time you used to be able to get incredibly tasty fresh squeezed orange juice which I was a HUGE fan of. This last visit was watery OJ. Not a favorite of mine. There is a wait depending on when you go. I usually come here on Weekends for breakfast, I do like that there is serve yourself coffee for while you wait. The wait staff is generally good. The food choices are a little healthier than you might find at Denny's/IHOP. I really like the Arizona omelette but get it without chicken, because I'm just not ready for chicken for breakfast generally. I've never had their lunch or dinner menus. I'm a strictly breakfast gal, but it's a charming little place if a tad overpriced. read more

Maybe I just got the wrong thing here, but it sucked. We waited for half an hour for a table on Easter Sunday, so apparently everybody else seems to like this place. I asked the waitress whether to get a Florentine Benedict or the migas, and she said the migas were great. Not so much. They tasted like migas that you might get at Denny's or something. Denny's in Minnesota, where they're not even really sure what migas are. And they didn't come with tortillas - they came with tortilla chips. And they were more expensive than the migas at Elsi's or El Sol y La Luna (both in Austin - sorry, Houstonites), which are a hundred million times better. I did like that they left you a carafe of water with lemon so you weren't counting on the waitress to refill the tiny water glasses they gave you, but that was this restaurant's sole redeeming quality. This is the place to get special breakfast entrees, like Eggs Benedict. There are several varieties of that dish, such as vegetarian, chicken, and salmon. There are also simple and delicious selections such as the lumberjack breakfast with fluffy eggs, sausage or bacon, potatoes, and pancakes. There are many vegetarian and healthy selections as well made with veggies, egg whites, and whole grains. A little something for everyone. I wouldn't call Le Peep expensive. My idea of expensive is a $25 omelet at a swanky hotel. Peep's dishes are around $8 - $14. Many are so filling, they will hold you over through lunch. Then you only need a granola bar or something small in the late afternoon before dinner. This is a nice place to have brunch with your gal pals. Think Sex and the City on Sunday mornings when the girls would meet for breakfast and share the juicy details about their dates the previous night. I like the water carafes on the table, fresh orange and grapefruit juice, use of fussy little doilies on serving dishes (it just amuses me) attentive service, and high quality food. Wait times will vary. I have never waited more than 20 minutes during peak times. The free coffee while you wait is a nice touch. read more

The only problem I had was the service, we got there when I think there was about 10 people in the store and it still took like 5 min for us to be seated. Maybe they were just slow that day or, i don't know if there is no wait time then I don't want to wait... Always packed is always for a good reason. My favorite is the Sir Benedict Omlette and hot tea of any kind. My wife loves their Belgian Waffle plate which is served to near-perfection every visit. From the english muffins that swam across the pond onto your plate, to the seasoned hash browns which are the best the Bayou City has to offer, anything you order i'm certain you cannot go wrong. My wife finds it classy and i cannot disagree (not b/c we're married, b/c it's true!) Every party or couple or individual is treated with the quality favor one should have. But i could be putting eleven-on-nine, the food is so delish i could eat through a video of my wife shopping and it wouldn't bother me in this context. We go at least once a month, breakfast or brunch. Would like them open for dinner but now i'm being greedy. That's what makes them so exclusive b/c they're only open a few hours per day. After our wedding rehearsal in July of 2012 our families delighted in the pleasure of our experience here. High from the excitement of the succeeding events, sobering-up from the night before, we came back to make sure it was as good as it was that day and they've proven themselves to be a sure-shot. It's so true that people will only review a place if it is amazing and worth five stars, or abysmal and barely worth the one star. The fact that I'm giving this place three stars AND still writing about it is odd for me. A friend came into town that I hadn't seen in a billion years so she and my boyfriend went to Le Peep for breakfast. Truth be told, I had to be reminded we even went there...like, for a good five minutes. That obviously doesn't bode well for Le Peep. We got in juuuuuust under weekend breakfast rush hour at 9 am. My hot chocolate was decent but the water (which they give you in a carafe on your table so you can refill it yourself, props to that, beeteedubs) was utterly undrinkable. It was completely unfiltered AND already had lemon in it. Gross. No. I don't want fruit in my water. I like water BECAUSE it has no taste to it. The "potatoes" are actually fried (which I prefer) and my omelet was edible. My boyfriend had a waffle with bananas and pecans. They brought him out melted butter instead of softened butter and this blew his mind for some reason. He wouldn't touch it because it freaked him out, but I thought it was pretty cool. Cute little spot my coworker took me for a goodbye breakfast. Food was quite good, I had the florentine omelette with onions added. The homefries are ok, a little odd on texture. I arrived at Le Peep based on recommendations here and recommendation from the valet at my hotel. Service was good and I agree the OJ is excellent. That was all that I can say good about the place for this visit. I had the Migas as I like to try different things on menus. The rule of thumb for a successful restaurant is "if it's on the menu it had better be great". This rule was busted down for Le Peep today. Chips were stale. Beans were cold. Main part of the meal was barely warm and the onions within it were raw. It was very evident that the eggs, chorizo and other ingredients were pre-prepped and just tossed together and not prepared as they should have been. I did speak to the manager after paying my ticket on my way out the door and provided this same feedback and she looked as if the sky had fallen as the customer just before me had the exact same complaint she said. I will not hold one bad experience against the place and intend to visit again and hope it meets the high expectations given by the previous reviewers. read more

If my wife and I go out for breakfast, Le Peep will always get our vote if we have time to drive out there. The Orange Juice is so fresh it tastes like biting into an orange. The eggs benedict is the best I've had in Houston. The turkey sausage is better than anything I've tried from any grocery store. Usually there is a wait Sunday morning for a table, but not for very long. It is, however, a tad on the expensive side for breakfast. It was our first time so our waiter fully explained the menu and answered all of our questions. This place was okay - but just okay. We came on a Sunday morning for breakfast, which all in itself was probably a mistake given the lack of breakfast places that Houston seems to have. We were told that the wait would be 15 minutes. 30 minutes later we were seated and soon greeted by a boy that looked not a day older than 10 and were quickly brought our drinks. The food was good - somewhat overpriced, but most breakfast places are. I had the southwest omelet which was okay and a side of bacon. I didn't really care for the potatoes; they were pretty dry. However everything else tasted okay. When we were ready to leave we asked the waiter if we paid up front or at the table. He told us that we could do either, so we got our money together and placed it on the table - clearly visible to him should he walk by. We made small talk while waiting for the waiter to come and bring us some change. The waiter came close to our table on 3 different occasions to check on other diners, but never took our bill. We ended up having to go and find another waitress who was able to make change for us. It was okay, but next time I would like to try Waffle House - never been to one of these, but it was also packed on a Sunday morning so we went with Le Peep. Had I known that the wait was actually 30 minutes instead of 15, I may have gone with waffles. read more

Updating my review - just went back for a late breakfast again on a weekend (around noon) and service/food was good again! Don't be turned away by the crowd waiting, we were seated very quickly for a table of 4 (a lot of tables ahead of us too). I had the lumberjack breakfast (eggs, sausage or bacon, potatoes and pancakes) - great price for what you get (felt a bit shorted on the scrambled eggs though). Potatoes and pancakes were delish! Friend ordered the gooey buns - surprisingly tasty! Brown sugar and butter broiled on an english muffin, topped with almonds - recommend ordering it if you go. Previous review: Went for breakfast and it was good. The menu has a lot of options for breakfast, which I love, and the food came out pretty quick (even though the place was very busy). Everyone at the table ordered something different - I tried everything (duh) and it was good! As a girl allergic to eggs breakfast is always judged by the OTHER options on the menu, water I couldn't drink due to the taste and coffee not hot enough to melt the whipped cream I asked for wasn't a good start. I ordered a fruit and yogurt parfait with crispy bacon. There are "grilled potatoes" in lue of hash browns and I just wasn't in the mood. They had a huge selection of omelets and pancakes, the couple I was with had both and said they were decent. After the waitress dropped of the bill she ignored us, to the point I walked to the hostess station and chased out there. Tasty breakfast (I got the healthy benedict) and good coffee. I was dining alone and noticed there were quite a few of us solo-diners. It's a comfortable place to grab a meal and catch up on your reading. I love that they didn't come by my table a zillion times or drop off the check too early...I really felt like I could take my time and that's important when I'm at a restaurant. As for the menu, they have the standard breakfast choices (sausage/eggs/french toast/pancakes) but they also have some healthy options that aren't oatmeal and fruit (think eggwhites and whole wheat) and I like that. Joined the parents with my hubs for breakfast here last weekend and it was ok. It is always good, I had the ham and cheese omelet and did enjoy it, although I felt like it was missing something... This is my second time at this restaurant and it has yet to disappoint. The first time I had pancakes and eggs with bacon. The pancakes were awesome but the fruit they served with it tasted like it came out of frozen fruit bag. On the second trip I got pecan coffee and I'll be sure to get this from now on. This place was very busy today at 10 am on Sunday morning. They seated our group was fast though so it was nice. I ordered french toast that came with 2 scrambled eggs and a few slices of cinnamon apples as well as my choice of sausage patties. They were moist and flavorful. The syrup was hot so it was a plus.. my favorite item from my meal was the fresh squeezed grapefruit juice. My friends both got better looking plates compared to mine. The kitchen forgot my sausage and it came out later. Oh yeah they have complimentary coffee and ice water in the waiting area for customers. Mi gusta! read more

So I'm obsessed with Le Peep. A friend introduced my sister and me to this place a few months ago. Huge portions. Decently priced considering the size of the plates. I've only been to this location twice. The service is pretty quick and attentive. The quality of food is a little less tasty in comparison to the Westchase location, but it's still good. You may have to wait if you're coming for breakfast or brunch on the weekends. I highly recommend the Spa Lumber. read more

As a teenager my parents would take me to the Le Peep on Westheimer and Wilcrest and I loved it. Nowadays, I'm keen on going somewhere else. For old time's sake, my mother suggested that for my birthday we go to the Le Peep near the Galleria. It was Sunday and we arrived at 11:30am. I was told that for six people it would be a 20 minute wait, great, we do not mind waiting. Almost a full hour later and plenty of inquiries into where we were on the list and we were finally seated right next to the kitchen with no room to squeeze in. The food was not worth the wait. My feta omelette was almost cold and the potatoes were mush. The only thing that was good on the plate was the side-order of bacon. Overall, I was extremely disappointed and may not visit this location again, though I will give the Wilcrest location another try. One thing to note, there is a sign in the restaurant that states "Please make sure your party is present - we will only seat complete parties", yet I watched on two occasions as they sat incomplete parties where the rest of the group did not show up for 10 to 15 minutes. When we were finally called for our table, I made the statement "let me go get them" (they were sitting outside), the host made the following rude comment, "Is everyone even here?", to which I replied, "Yeah, they are just sitting outside the same way they have been for an hour". read more

I love their healthy choices on the menu, being a work out slut I tend to gravitate toward restaurants I can make healthy choices at. Their Mother Earth Omelet is good, it's a very generous helping too, I like how the staff is so willing to let me customize my meals. Speaking of the staff, I've never had a bad experience, they're always fast. Back to the food, the Belgian Waffles are made from angels in heaven, trust me I checked ;-). I've had every fruit topping option available and they're all good, but I keep coming back to the apple & cinnamon or banana & pecans! WOW! If I could live off those I would. We visited this location on New year's day. We told the greeter we were two adults and one toddler in our party. When we were shown to our table only two places were setup. It took a while to get the third set of silverware and a glass of water. Our server (Andreina was her name, I think) did not interact much with us and her demeanor was between of being upset or scared because she was new to the job. My plate of food wasnt that good. My healthy nut wasnt good at all. I couldnt taste anything. The egg and vegetables were very tasteless even after I added the salt and pepper and Tabasco. The vegitables in the egg were semi-hard but cooked. My english muffin wasn't toasted on the bottom either. The top was hardly toasted; the whole meal felt rushed to serve. Grits were hard to chew and swallow. The top of it was sticking together like a sheet that happens when you let grains sit for a while (or something like when it doesnt come straight fresh from the pot?) The Belgium waffle was ok. Crunchy on the outside/outer-rim but other than that nothing speical. Maple syrup was good. Honey was ok. Fruit were either unripe or artificially rippened. Potato was the only thing that I could taste and even that it was ok. I need to try this place again in order to better judge this place but so far its a VERY BIG DISPOINTMENT. read more
