I've been wanting to try Le Petit Cafe for quite some time, particularly after hearing about the beef stew/Kaw Ko. It did not disappoint, and was sincerely one of the best Asian soups I've ever had--it was that good. Rich in flavor and a truly comforting meal. I ordered take out and all of the items were individually packaged with care, and the owner/cook was very kind. If this restaurant was at a different location it would be a 5 star place in my book as they nail it for service and good otherwise. It is easy to miss when you are looking for its location. Limited parking for the plaza is available across the street. We found street parking. There are about 8 tables and the place is very popular by locals of all different nationalities. It appears to be a family run business. We were greeted as Sol as we came in and told we could choose where to sit from the available tables. Our server was a young man (about 18) that was super nice and also gave us recommendations. Hot tea was brought to the table a few minutes lates. We started with their spring rolls that were freshly fried and very. I went with the flat noodles with seafood for my main course. Sauce was delicious and the overall dish was fantastic. Now if you need to go to the bathroom you have to go down the hall. That shared bathroom is in need of some serious renovation. The most recommended Cambodian spot in Lowell because of the Kaw Ko. We ordered the Kaw Ko with the butter bread. While it was very tasty, I felt the broth could be thicker and be a bit more potent in flavor. I could see why this dish made them famous, but for that specific day; maybe it was a bit light. What actually caused me to give this place a 5 star was the Num Pang Pate... wow - the best Cambodian sandwich I've had anywhere (and I've been to Philly & Long Beach for Khmer food). The slices of cold cut meat was extra thick, generous amount of asian mayo & pate, and the bread was crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The ambiance is a cozy cafe ran by a young man and an older woman who I assume to be his mother but I could be wrong. It looked like it was just the two of them handling business, I love to see it. Now for the food.. My group and I ordered -Ka Kho with bread (beef stew) 5/5 -Cha kroeung with chicken (stir fried lemongrass paste w/ chicken&jalepenos) 4/5 -Nompang Pate special (bahn mi sandwich with thick cuts of Asian deli meat and layered in between soft but toasted buttered baguette bread with pickled veggies) 5/5 -Ka thiew special one order with rice noodles the other with wide rice noodles. (Noodle soup with ground pork, meatballs, and shrimp). 4/5 -Special Congee (rice soup with pork blood,m and chicken). 5/5 -Stuffed Angel wings ( chicken wings stuffed with lemongrass paste and vermicelli noodles) 4/5 -Durian shake 5/5 All in all the food taste like how it would be if you had it at home which is nothing to complain about. I found this place online and was glad I did! It's a small place with 8 tables. I was quickly greeted and sat in a corner table. I was the only customer, so I was given the remote and told to watch whatever I wanted. When I requested directions to the restroom, I was given a key and brought to the location. The food arrived shortly after I returned and it was thoroughly delicious! I ordered the flat noodles with beef. The vegetables were crispy and the sauce was so good, I tried to scoop it up like soup with my spoon. The noodles were soft and the egg on top added a nice velvety texture. Le Petit is definitely petite. You can easily pass by the restaurant if you don't know where it is. The service is very friendly and welcoming. I've never had Khaw Ko before but I've heard they have the best. So I tried it and it was good and the beef and tripe were really tender. As for the flavor, it's good but not what I was expecting. The fresh limeade was soooooo amazing. Perfect sweetness and sourness. I came here before to eat loc lac, and I love it because it's the saucy kind that I would make at home. Yes walking into this place looks a little sketchy but don't let that get in the way of you trying their authentic fresh flavors! I had the seafood special noodle soup and my husband had their special combination soup both were so flavorful and I dare to say the best I've had in town. The greeted us so warmly we didn't feel one bit out of place we had few questions about the menu and they were so kind to answer all our questions! Best Kathiew beef noodle soup. I have lived in lowell for 6 years and have tried most cambodian places (noddle soup) and this is by far the best!! Also, their bread is some of the best I've ever had, perfectly buttered and made fresh (from what i can tell, more than once a day). The woman running the shop is so incredibly sweet and puts all the heart into the food! Highly recommend Note- it can be hard to find, and may not be the brightest spot, but I would describe it as very cozy, old school and warm. Love that this place exists! read more

My partner and I went to this hole-in-the-wall restaurant upon the advice of a friend. The small seating area was like a cafeteria or a kitchen table, which was perfect for us as we wanted to try Cambodian food while in Lowell. As we waited for our food (we hit the lunch rush, so we had a 40-minute wait), we were struck by how friendly people were. The customers were chatting with the staff, the staff were chatting with us... it all gave the ambiance of being at a family's kitchen table. The mom did most of the cooking, while her daughter and son worked as waitstaff. The food was absolutely delicious. I wish I got an image of the stuffed chicken wing appetizer - next time my partner will be coming for an order of that alone, it tasted so good. The Kathew kaw ko was a perfect meal of beef soup and bread - in the picture you see me having added some of their homemade chili oil which was so good we asked to purchase some from them. 99% of the time I'm a vegetarian, but when I travel and try new things I relax that approach for the experience. This restaurant is not for abiding vegetarians, to be clear. The food tasted so good that I was able to eat meat without too much struggle, which is a testament to the deliciousness of the food. easy to miss hole in the wall spot! workers are very kind and answered my questions i had about some things on the menu. i was sooo happy to see that they have a wide noodle option for their pho i had the beef pho and it is Cambodian style, authentic with all of the proper seasonings provided at the table--flavorful broth with good amount of meat, veggies, and perfectly cooked wide rice noodles (which is not a common option for pho at most restaurants) my partner had beef loc lac which was good, the meat was not chewy at all and was not super crispy nor soft. everyone makes their beef loc lac differently but theirs seemed to be slightly fried in some way. beef dish came with rice and veggies their lemonade is good not too sweet or syrupy food is reasonably priced and came out fairly quickly. they do have a TV in their that was broadcasting a football game when i was there i will deff be adding this spot to my list of SE asian lowell spots :) read more

Had one of the best meals in my life here so I went to go see how many reviews it has and I was shocked that they only had 9 reviews when my friends kept telling me how they and their family had been coming there for years. He took me on a Sunday morning and it was so good that I was back on Monday for lunch. It's the lowest of low key places, in a building so old that there isn't a sign, it's just painted onto the wall. It's family owned with a wife in the kitchen and the husband just helping out. There's a super family feel in there. You go in, they do have a menu but sometimes they won't give it to you, in which case you need to talk to them about what they have. I read some stuff about people not speaking English but both the wife and husband there seemed to speak great English. We were the only people in the restaurant so the husband chatted with us throughout the meal which was great because I really enjoy taking part in these conversations. I've gotten only 1 dish here, and it seems to be the one thing that everybody recommends. Kathew Ko Kho (Braised beef stew with noodles) and butter bread (a french baguette with a combination of butter and pate on the inside). It's such an amazing combination. The beef is tender with some pieces of tendon and other bits and rice noodles. The soup is on the sweet and savory side but there's plenty of chilli oil, sambal, pickled chillis, and fresh ground chilli to add if you want to make it spicy. The combination of that with the fresh bread to dip in the broth is honestly unexplainable. There is something about this butter bread that keeps blowing my mind, usually 1 order for 2 people is enough but me and my girlfriend went through 2 loaves. You can really taste the care they put into their food. You can always find whole spices in their broth which shows you that they're not using the pre-made ground mix or seasoning packets that other places use to cut corners. I can't rave about this dish enough. An interesting thing here is that the auntie is Muslim, and even though I'm not sure if the food is halal or not, she doesn't use any pork in her cooking. So if you're somebody that doesn't eat pork you can try all the dishes here with no worries. Even the twa ko sausage that they sell is a beef sausage. Places like this are endangered gems. It's purely run by a single couple, and one day if the auntie decides that she doesn't want to continue it probably will just stop existing. So 5/5 could not recommend enough, come and enjoy this slice of Cambodian home cooking while you still can. read more

It's very easy to miss this place so it can be considered a hidden gem. However, located in Cambodia town, it's much loved by the Cambodian community for years. Growing up, your parent would buy one of the candies for you in one of those jars/containers sitting there. Le Petit Cafe has a stable and concise menu with rice porridges, Noodle soups, and rice dishes, plus small additions like egg rolls. The Kathiews are a must have. My favorite is the Kathiew kaw ko with a hefty amount of bean sprouts and two slices of lime. Though, two slices may be too much for some. The soup has good chunks of beef in it and the serving is a good size. If you order the baguette alongside it, it can make you seriously full. The baguette is soft and pillowy on the inside and it has a nice crunch on the outside. The butter drizzled on top is salty but when paired with the lime squeezed soup, it makes a well balanced pairing. Sometimes free cold chilled tea is offered and it balances the piping hot noodle soup! Definitely will be a reoccurring customer. This was a spectacular lucky find for us! Wow what great place for Cambodian. We saw a video about Cambodia Town on you tube that highlighted Le Petit. The staff was super friendly. Its in a neat location sort of hidden in an older building. The beef noodle soup was reminiscent of a Vietnamese Bo Kho but distinctly unique. We ordered 4 entrees but decided to take one to go and was told that sausages can not be taken to go so we just canceled that order. The food was so good that we ordered sandwiches to go. The chicken sandwich was the best out of the combo and the beef. The combo and the beef was a little salty for my tasting. When it was time to go, we were overcharged because they didn't take the sausages and rice plate that we canceled but I don't blame them because I should have asked for a receipt and looked at the total before paying. read more

The owner and her son were amazing, so kind and they catered to everything we needed. Don't let the authentic menu scare you off, they will add/take off anything you need from your meal. This little hidden gem is located in a tiny plaza across from the boys and girls club. I've been coming here since I was little. My family is close to the owners who I call aunty and uncle. From my grandma all the way down to my kids. I always get the kathiew kao ko w/ the butter bread. This is the best place in town to get it. The owner has put so much into her cooking and her business, after all it is a small family business. She also makes homemade tawah ko (sausages) uncooked in 2 flavors sweet or regular at $1 a piece so worth it. Which u can fry it up and eat it, but I put it in the air fryer for 15 mins still tastes great either way. I always order 10 or more at a time. My kids can eat it everyday. There is plenty of on street parking or a little lot across the street. The price is pretty low which is great to for the amount of food u get. Try it out u won't regret it. read more

This place is such a rare gem, tucked away behind a small red door in little Cambodia. There was one lone woman inside crafting items from their small handwritten menu. This place will always be my favorite go to spot every time I visit Lowell (my all time favorite restaurant)! It brings back so much memories of my childhood!
