It could be that not use to this type of Khmer food but loc lac translate to shaken beef. What I got was more of a deep fried beef. Maybe same same but different. Portion of beef was small compared to the amount of rice i got. Beef was flavored nicely, a bit on the sweeter side.

We stopped by on a Sunday afternoon and the restaurant was fairly busy. It's a casual place with some vendors in the front selling jewelry. We started off with the combo appetizer which included chicken wings, papaya salad and sticky rice. The papaya salad was nicely seasoned with a spicy kick. The chicken wings were fried well but fairly bland. For entrees we tried the stir fried noodles and lemongrass chicken. The noodles were good but had to be eaten right away or else it got hard. The chicken had a strong lemongrass seasoning and wait fairly spicy. It reminds me of the Thai Ka prow which is made with Thai basil instead of lemon grass. Overall the food was fine, but it's a little pricey.

Coconut, pineapple, eggplant (and maybe pickled baby eggplant or tomato too?) With tofu. Delicious!

Great food, generous portions. Very slow (and strange) service. We ordered fresh rolls (nothing special) that, arrived within 5 minutes. Then we ordered a coconut + pineapple + eggplant soup. After 1.5 hours within the order, I went to the staff and asked wat was going on and they replied 2 different answers that felt like lies. Oh well - it was still tasty, just not sure I can spare 2.5 hours next time I go lol

Be so fkn for real! Spent $65 on two special noodles and rice porridge to have a few pieces of little meats!? So over hyped and overpriced be so for real simply as Khmer! Telling me is $20 for a bowl? Drove 30 min to for pick up for nothing! Should've asked for the total smh!

Sorry we forgot to take photos prior to eating. Bai/ Loc Lac (Marinated Steak Tips) Crispy Eggroll (5 pieces)

I have had spent part of my life growing up within the Khmer (Cambodian) community so I have had my fair share of Khmer food. Simply is a great restaurant to get introduced to the cuisine if you feel uncomfortable going to new places and trying new food. The menus are clear and accurate with descriptions. They also have a small gift/take away section. The food is top notch, extremely flavorful and consistent. The seating gives enough space between chairs but it can get loud at times but because everyone is having a decent time. The service is good, nothing bad always friendly. The prices are tad more expensive but I feel they have earned the right to charge what they charge (in a good way).

I specifically came to Lowell for the salam machu krueng dish. 10/10 would recommend this place and this dish. It's my favorite Cambodian dish and it always hits the spot. People typically want mi ka thung but I would eat this over that any day!

We love this place! Such wonderful service and hospitality. The owner was so nice, space is wonderful. We love their addition of small business items. The food has an authentically Khmer taste. The lot cha has a nice char that reminds me of Cambodia. The soup was flavorful and the chicken- superb! Will try their sister restaurant in Chelmsford before we leave back to SF.

I absolutely loved the wings here, super duper crispy and soooo flavorful. Honestly, this is a definite must have here, both the hot and sweet/savory one (forgot the name but that's the description haha) The beef skewers were also a hit as well, good flavor and very juicy. For me, the appetizer is where it's at, maybe I just didn't get good entrees, but personally the flavors were not good to me, but others loved it. And the papaya salad was good, get the spicy, the mild had no spice Definitely try this place, I'm going back again for sure!

The food was so amazing that we came back twice during our vacation. It's so hard to find good Cambodian food, and this place really hits the mark. I was so bummed that they ran out of beef skewers during our first dinner here that I made sure to order them when we came back the second time. They are absolutely delicious, and definitely worth the wait. They also had the best som-law ma-ju I've ever had, it was spectacular. The soup was perfectly flavored with just the right amount of sourness, meanwhile the tripes were so well cooked and tender. Other standouts included the pork chop and the Loc Lac, both were well seasoned. The space is nice and airy with some cute merchandises in the front, including cookbooks and various items. The service was friendly and helpful. Overall, this is a must stop if you are ever in the area.

We've been meaning to try this place for a while and finally made it over and we're so glad we did. The service was great, restaurant was inviting and clean, and the food was good. We started with the papaya salad with spicy wings and sticky rice. Everything was tasty but the wings weren't really spicy. I think they could add dry chilies and fry this dry and it would be better than this wet sauce on it which is also sweet. You can't go wrong with avocado shakes so I'll just leave that there. The noodles soup special has a nice broth to it and I ordered the fried donut sticks to dip it. On a cold day nothing beats this aside from the rice porridge. The fried noodles was very tasty as well. We were given some of their housemade chili oil and fresh basil, lime, and bean sprouts to top off our noodles with which added a nice crunch and freshness. We enjoyed our meal very much and can't wait to try their other dishes.

Ok, I went there w my friend for her bday. The food was delicious. Specifically the beef on the stick the meat is so tender and me who very picky w meat, love this beef. I ordered lor na tofu it was delicious too. My friend had loc lac. Everything was delicious. Service is a bit slow idk if thats because not a busy dinner time or they just slow. We waited about 20 mins just for our Vietnamese spring roll. To be hinrst not as food as other foods. But i will be back again for sure

We came with no expectations but left very satisfied!!! The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly. The thai ice tea had a strong tea flavor, just the way I like it. Dishes we enjoyed: -Angkor Wings: perfect kick and crunch. -Cha kroeung: my favorite dish of the night! The spicy ground chicken had great dynamic flavor and was so delicious. Make sure you add a side of white rice. -Lort cha: the pin noodle shape were a great bouncy texture. -Loc Lac: marinated steak tips were cooked well and the lemon pepper/salt sauce was perfect! -Kuy Tiew: soup is very flavorful, a bit like pho but sweeter. Dishes to skip: -Spring rolls: very little shrimp and not much else going on.

Beef Loc Lac (7.5/10): This was my favorite dish of the night. Crispy and tender! Flavor was delicious. Seafood Fried Noodles (4/10): I don't recommend ordering this. The fried noodles on the outside were fine, but it was a soggy mess on the inside. That would be acceptable if the sauce were good, but the sauce wasn't good either. Also, bear in mind that you will barely get any seafood with this dish. You'll get a few large pieces of imitation crab and like 2 shrimp. I like imitation crab, but just be warned. The first place we went to was closed, despite Yelped showing they were open. Apparently a lot of places in the area are closed on a Monday. Phnom Penh is truly authentic. You walk in and are surprised by how spacious the dining area is. You look to the counter area and it's truly mom and pop style. You hear really loud customers speaking to the staff and immediately feel that they are regulars who have built close relationships through many years of patronage here. This place feels very homey. There is plenty of street parking, but I did see a sign that indicated a parking lot is available in the back. The young man that seated and served us was friendly and helpful. More importantly, he was patient and answered questions for us, who are new to Cambodian cuisine. I ordered the fried rice with beef loc lac. It seemed very popular as many pictures on yelp were of this dish. The beef looked overly fried but was surprisingly juicy and tender with lots of flavor. The fried rice reminds me of the Panda Express fried rice, and there is nothing wrong with that. I accepted the offer to add a fried egg but that actually came out over cooked, IMHO. I give this dish a 8/10. The beef noodle soup was something my wife ordered. It looks spicy but is not spicy at all. Yet, it still had really good flavor. The pictures showed some beef balls, but we noticed mostly sliced beef pieces. It was good and I'd give it a 8/10 as well. I got 2 appetizers. There were so many things that looked good but there were just 2 of us dining and we already were ordering more than we could eat. The fried spring rolls were okay. I think more meat filling would really balance out the interior texture. The outside was perfectly crisp and this dish goes so well with the included fish sauce. I'd give this a 7/10. The hot wings looked so good in the picture. It is heavily and unevenly breaded and fried, then mixed in a sweet and spicy sauce. It's sticky and crunchy...and very fried. I was actually hoping for more with this dish so I'd give it a 6/10. I might try the unsauced version if I come back, as that looked so good (another table got it). Overall, it was a good experience. We were served hot tea and provided great service for delicious food at a reasonable price. I'm glad places like this are still out there. They are not flashy or anything. They are there to serve good food to the community. I hope I come across this place again (it's not near where we live). I'll just have to drive past Lowell again soon!
