Steak au poivre
Imah E.

I highly recommend this place. We are just in town for the week and wanted to find a brasserie for our first dinner in town. This place did the trick! I ordered the French onion soup and it was extremely flavorful but not the typical soup with a bunch of melted cheese crusted on the sides. I also had the goat cheese salad (that was somehow brie). It was light with bread and melted Brie around the sides. My husband had the steak au poivre and loved it. The meat by itself is rare and the gravy really makes the dish. The dish also came with some really delicious potatoes. They have happy hour from 17hr-20hr even on sundays.

This was our first stop for dinner when we traveled to Paris. I wasn't really a fan. My main issue with Le President is that it seems overpriced for what it is. I ordered the croque-madame for my meal. It actually wasn't too bad - I would order it again. I liked how the cheese was crisped on top of the bread. We ordered a slice of pie for dessert and it was not good at all. I felt like I was just eating applesauce. There is an english menu which is super convenient!

Great food. Great service. The wait staff spoke very little English but they did a great job of making us feel "right at home".

THE FOOD ------------------…read more+ Escargot/Extra large Burgundy Snails - Fantastic! Lots of flavor and addictively so good. Use the complimentary bread to sop up the oils! = French Onion Soup - Ehhh just OK. Tasted like just your average French Onion Soup. + Duck Confit - Duck leg was delicious and tender with lots of gravy. Scalloped potatoes were a great side for it. + Beef Bourguignon - Phennnnomenal. Arrived in a clay pot and the beef was so tender and flavorful. Stewed potatoes and carrots were also in the au jus and flavorful too. Wish I had something (other than the bread) to soak it up! + Lasagna Bolognese - Tried a littttle bit of it and it was solid. Can't say it was much different than other good bolognese dishes I've had, but it was good. THE SERVICE ----------------------- + Seated quickly for our Sunday evening resy. - Food took a litttttle too long to arrive. + Waiter was very friendly. THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ + Small restaurant, but has quite a few tables inside and noticed that parties without a reservation were still immediately seated. + Was busy for a Sunday evening at 5:30-7 PM, but there was always a open table or 2. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------------- = Nada.

We had an amazing waitress who was just on point with all our needs even after she was given a 25-person table once our group of 4 was seated. I can't even begin to describe the food as it was exactly what it looked like and what we wanted. In my mafaldine al tartufo avec jambon a la truffe d'ete, it had the perfect amount of truffle and saltiness - especially with the jambon topping. The moules a la creme and moules pasta was bountiful and fresh. The fresh brick-oven-cooked pizza was outstanding and also deserving of equal praise. The inside of the restaurant is warmly lit and inviting to any sized groups wanting to try out this place. Would recommend and come back again when shopping Champs-Elysées!

The steak was all right and my husband loved the mussels. I did like that they did have a great Belgian cherry beer...that was delicious. It was nice sitting outside and the waiter was fairly efficient although a little indifferent. If you are here for mussels, you'll probably like this a lot. Otherwise, you'll probably feel that it's okay, but not a standout compared to some other places we ate in Paris.

THE FOOD ------------------…read more+ THEEEEEE gold standard for macarons in Paris ... or anywhere for that matter. + Macarons here are a little crisp, a little pillowy softness and a whollllllle bunch of flavor. - It cost a pretty penny (about 3 Euros for 1 piece), but you won't regret it for a second when you bite into one of these addictively delicious treats. THE SERVICE ----------------------- + All class, top notch white glove service - literally - they handle the macarons with much care like it were gold! THE SURROUNDINGS ------------------------------------ + Located in the heart of the Champs-Élysées on Rue Lincoln, so, YES, it is busy like rush hour outside ... and inside. + There are 2 sides to this massive flagship location - you can either make a purchase of macarons at their store OR dine/sit down in their tea house. Both have lines to wait on, but making a purchase only takes about 10 minutes on a weekend, while dining in looks like an unimaginable wait! + The store to make a macaron purchase at has 3 tables to sit around to enjoy your purchase of delicious macarons. You MUST catch someone about to leave (like we did) in order to snag a table. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS ------------------------------------------- = Expect waits on a weekend afternoon, especially to sit down in the tea room. If you just make a store purchase, it's only about a 10 minute wait ... and you'll be thanking your legs for that. = It's a tourist destination in itself, so expect LOTS of people taking photos of this location. CONCLUSION ----------------------- = Yes, I'm from the tri-state area and they've had a Laduree in NYC since 2011, but there's alwayyyyys something special about going to one of the originals and this spot is no different.
