When I brought it to the owners' attention, they couldn't have cared less -- no apology, no attempt to fix it, nothing, very dismissive. I suggested ways to fix it, a glass of wine and dessert but absolutely not....Between the terrible food and the total lack of concern for customers, this place clearly has no standards. Won't be returning. It is extremely sad because I was genuinely excited to return to their newly opened location after years of being closed. Nice curb appeal every time I walk near place vendôme. Mostly tourists dine here and that should be a clue. I had the avocado toast with smoked salmon and poached egg for starters. Came to paris for a quick trip to see the Christmas Market. The cold Parisian night led us to stumble across this little gem. The menu isn't over whelming or pretentious. It's the right size to remind you how well the French do cuisine. We enjoyed a simple charcuterie of salami with a beautiful foie gras and a fromage plate with several cheeses including bleu, Camembert, and Brie. We rounded the meal off with two glasses of Bordeaux and une tarte aux pommes. Everything tasted delicious. I only wished there was a bit of fruit offered with the charcuterie. Awesome place that has a great atmosphere with an outdoor area to overlook the folks walking by, a first level bar, and upstairs restaurant. We actually ate here twice--once for breakfast and once for dinner. Everyone working here is super nice and attentive. Very welcoming and friendly, almost a family feel. When we ate breakfast at the bar, you can tell some locals would start the day there with a quick coffee and croissant. Baskets of croissants and other pastries lined the bar. We had the best of both worlds for savory and sweet. I opted for the eggs with cheese and ham. My wife got the best looking (I didn't eat it though) brioche French toast that I've ever seen. For dinner, we had the truffle risotto and the pasta with ham and truffle. Both were good and not overly rich especially given both had cheese and truffle. I was looking for a place to have breakfast and this was recommended to me by my the concierge of my hotel. The food was not bad. My wife and I each had an omelette, she had a coffee, I had a hot chocolate, and I had a croissant. Nothing was particularly memorable and our omelettes were fluffy but one-dimensional as we could only have our choice of mushrooms or cheese on them. Service was fine, the restaurant was beautiful, and the location was in one of the most beautiful parts of Paris. But there wasn't really anything about the breakfast that we particularly enjoyed and I think we spent about $50-60US. Supposedly, I think this place gets better reviews for their lunch, but your miles will vary. read more

As someone who travels to France regularly I can tell you that this man and this restaurant should be avoided at all costs - they are the definition of evil. We settled into the bar for a quick drink during the afternoon, I quickly ordered a bourbon and my wife was curious about a type of Champagne she had not seen before, and asked for a taste. The server quickly (and quite rudely) said no . . . I assumed there was a language barrier so I asked him in French. The answer was the same, hard no. I then asked for the manager, who came over and repeated this same ignorant answer. We shared my bourbon and left leaving no tip. I asked the man if he was the owner, jokingly, and he shook his head no, I then said - "obviously!" At the casual bistro or brasserie level all the way up to the extreme high-end Michelin starred restaurants, the French are always incredibly warm and kind. The burgers arrived and were not presented in a manner befitting the restaurants ambience. It was simple in a cheap feeling way not a minimalistic plating. AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Horribly rude staff, especially the older man who seems to be the manager. My friend and I had a drink and soup in the upstairs seating area. We didn't see signs for a restroom upstairs so we paid and went to the downstairs restroom before we left the restaurant. Upon leaving the rude older man stopped us, loudly and in front of all the downstairs patrons, and asked what we were doing there, apparently trying to seat us because he seemed to think we had wandered off the street just to sneak in to use their restroom. I explained, in both French and English that we had just finished dining upstairs and he said " Well, there's a bathroom upstairs why didn't you use it " obviously not believing we had dined there at all. I told him I didn't know there was one upstairs and he sneered at me, at which point I just gave him a dirty look and walked out the door. Apparently, we didn't look classy enough to frequent this snotty establishment. The poor reviews really do fit the picture of this nasty place. When we complained that our avocado was bad, they gave us some serious attitude. Arguing with us that black spots are normal and we should just eat it. While staying at the Mandarin Oriental Hotel I asked one of the staff where to go for a bite to eat and enjoy a drink while taking in the Paris ambiance, this place was perfect. It was a nice day out so I sat outside taking in the ambiance and people watching. I ordered the Grilled tenderloin of beef and Béarnaise sauce rare and when it arrived, the presentation was perfect and after my first bite, I knew that I found a place that I would return to as it was perfectly cooked and seasoned. I ordered a chardonnay from their extensive wine list, this place is family owned and operated and you can tell it's a family that has its priorities right, make the food the best in the 1st district and the ambiance exactly what people want and the customers will come. Overall, I would give this restaurant A+. It has great ambience, excellent food, and welcoming service. Their desire to please was phenomenal. There're two parts to this restaurant. The downstairs is a bar and café which allows you to sit by The bar watching television or sports as well as outside. Upstairs however, is a restaurant. In that restaurant there's a quieter more intimate feeling. The staff there were very welcoming and let us stay for several hours without bothering us in any regard. The food was excellent and freshly made and very tasty. My wife had organic salmon and I had the fish of the day. Just as a note, the fish of the day came as a whole fish. I was surprised by that. However I was very pleasantly surprised by the taste of the food. My wife had an appetizer with goat cheese and I had a traditional French onion soup. Both were excellent. Finally, we had a Napoleon. It was not what I expected having had American napoleons. However it was lighter and more flavorful with vanilla cream. The waiter, Vincent, was very receptive and very friendly. There are nice wines by the glass that were reasonably priced - 9 E for a good Sancerre.
