I had a last minute nail request the day before I left for vacation. I called ahead to make sure I could get seen at my lunch hour and the girl confirmed an appt. I came here over Thanksgiving with my SIL and we both had a poor experience. Her toe was cut during her pedicure and bled badly throughout the appointment. I received an eyebrow wax, manicure, and pedicure. The wax was fine and the pedicure was average, but the manicure left five of my fingers bleeding and several nails shaped crooked. Two cuts were deep enough that I've needed Band-Aids and Neosporin for several days. The manicurist was kind, but a total of six cuts in one visit is unacceptable and left me genuinely concerned about infection. The photos attached are six days after the service. I've been to this salon a few times and usually had a good experience, but unfortunately, today was different. I booked an appointment over the phone and clearly requested a new Gel-X set--twice, just to be sure. The woman on the phone confirmed it. When I arrived, no one greeted me, and since my usual tech was fully booked, I asked to be scheduled with someone she recommended who had similar work. She booked me with Amy. After removing my old set, Amy began applying builder gel without even informing me. I asked her if she was doing builder gel, and she said yes. I explained that's not what I requested when I booked. Her coworker then translated and told me I could do a fill twice before needing a full set. While I understood that, I had specifically asked for a new Gel-X set because I'm attending a wedding. Despite repeating that I wanted a new set, Amy's coworker kept insisting I could just do a fill and get a full set next time. I ended up going along with it because I needed to get home to my baby--I'm a full-time stay-at-home mom and don't have the flexibility to come in often. I showed Amy a picture of the shape I wanted--short and round--but she gave me a mix of square and round. The nails are thick, uneven, and some aren't even the same shape. As someone in the beauty industry, I still tipped her out of respect. But it's like a client asking me to keep their hair long and me giving them a bob without saying a word. Amy never asked if I was happy with the shape or the nails. She wrapped up in under an hour and just said, "Okay, you're done, thank you." I don't usually leave reviews, but this was disappointing. Love the vibes of this place and everyone is so nice! I needed to get my nails done last minute because I got a botched nail job done right before and I had a wedding to attend in 2 days. I called in and they were able to take me in immediately on a Thursday afternoon. Some of the nail techs don't speak English well but it's totally fine because they have other techs that can help translate. They were able to remove my botched nail job and explain to me why they needed to use tips on me to make my nails look more even. They were super detail oriented and made sure my nails turned out PERFECT! I didn't get my nail tech's name but every step of the way she would make sure I was satisfied with the color, the shape, the length, everything which was really nice of her! I know some techs just keep their head down and never ask if you like the nails/designs so it was nice that my nail tech made sure everything was looking good before moving on to the next steps. I've been to this nail salon a handful of times and have always been impressed, except for last week. The man who did my nails filed off the skin on every single finger on my right hand, and one on my left hand, leaving them bleeding, painful, and red. SIX fingers cut is actually crazy. I called them the next morning to let them know how awful the manicure was and they told me to send pictures and that the manager would get back to me. One week later and I haven't heard back (one of the days was Thanksgiving, but still). Hearing of the woman who recently got a staph infection from a nail salon, this who experience has been terrible. They completely blew me off. I and my mom enjoy our day off in this nails shop. I think the new owner just took over and remodel everything. First impression: shop is clean and very warmful. I got a "smooth it out" pedicure and my mom get her nails done with Amy. All services we got was so so great and meticulous. We're definitely happy with what we paid. One thing is this nail salon is a bit hidden so it is difficult for us to see it. I went to this area many times but I missed it. It's located right next to the CosmoProf beauty supplies store. Visiting San Diego for a month or so and needed a fill of poly gel. This is hard to find especially done well and this salon was great and easy to get in last minute. I would highly recommend. I prefer poly gel because it doesn't destroy your nail bed like gel x or lift as easy as acrylic. My nails just prefer it. Because of a severe adverse reaction to acetone, I cannot and so was refused service. I have been a client for a few months and love my nails until this visit! My daughter had an acrylic fill with design and gel pedicure. I had gel fx with chrome and gel pedicure. We were originally charged $345! Never in my life have I paid that much for my nails!! It was also my daughter's birthday so we were supposed to have 10% off too. We were charged an extra $30 for gel nails (toes) but were also charged for gel pedicures! We were charged to shorten our nails which is part of having a fill! The techs each have their own approach to the service, yet they remain consistent in quality and great service. After coming here for 6 visits now, I have not had any disappointments. I have a couple of favorites that stand out to me. For pedicures I love asking for Linda as she is such a sweetheart and meticulously takes care of you. Tina is my second favorite for pedicures that I have experienced. For my hands, I wish I could remember the names but one I do remember who did an amazing umbro full set is Michele.
