I usually have a different nail salon I frequent, but when they are too busy for me, I cheat on them occasionally. I tried Chroma once before & it was fine, but my second time here was great. I saw Rose (who I recommend for great pedi massages). She worked quickly but really focused on my massage for me. I asked her do my heels & this woman delivered medium strength the whole massage. I will absolutely ask for Rose again when I come back. This salon has been very busy both times I came, so just prepare a bit for a wait, even if you call in advance or have an appointment. To me, I do not mind waiting a little bit if they are busy, as I get my pedi only when I know I do not have a tight schedule to follow. I would recommend this salon, and I would especially recommend Rose. Bring cash for tips (which I usually fail at doing) or pay tips via Venmo. read more

I don't really have time to wait around in these places and two hours of my time should result in nice nails so when one popped off, I was understandably frustrated. Went in for Gel-X and they instead highly pushed for dip powder. Asked for a French tip and kiss than a week the French tip started peeling off. I think they were tired towards the end of the day. The full set took a lot longer than I thought and maybe it was because I was getting a pedicure as well so the angle of my arms weren't ideal? Idk. This is my go to spot for the post few years. The recently replaced a lot of their massage chairs as some didn't work so that was nice. It's very bright in here and they have TVs for you to watch while getting your pedicure and the chandeliers are a nice touch. If you spend over a certain amount you can ask for a glass of wine soda or water. One of the things I look for most when getting a pedicure is the cleanliness of the shop. I like that they put the plastic Liners in the bowls before they fill them up. I also see them sterilize the tools, and they open them up out of the package each time. Some of the mail text wear gloves and some don't I think it's just depends on who you get. Obviously some will be better than others when it comes to what you want. My go-to is always just a regular manicure pedicure. The prices aren't super cheap but definitely not over priced for what I get anyway. They have plenty of parking and there is a T.J Maxx across the parking lot, which I sometimes walk to afterwards while waiting for my nails and toes to dry. I will say this place gets extremely busy, if you can I would suggest making an appointment. If at all possible they will usually try to squeeze you in but there could be a wait. They do not take tips on your card so you will either need to have cash or pay the nail tech directly through venmo or cash up depending on what they have. There is an ATM in the shop. I believe it charges a dollar fee and if you use your card at the checkout they also charge you a fee. I believe that is a dollar as well. I will say this is one thing I do not like, when places do that. The credit card fees are not that much that they pay, and I believe it's the cost of doing business, and that should not be carried over to the customer. Been going to Chroma for years and always make an appt. With Linh because she's a perfectionist. Get a gel manicure and a pedicure every time. I book those two services with her because she does the best job ever. When I went this morning I was told I can't book her for two services and someone else would be doing my pedi. I said I made my appt. with her a week ago and confirmed she would be doing both. Can you explain this to me. If she did my gel manicure and her next client was a pedicure how is that any different. I was very disappointed with how our appointments were handled today. We had a booking for three Gel-X services for my daughter and her friends, yet we still ended up waiting close to an hour. My daughter waited even longer, and once they finally started, the service felt rushed. No water was offered, and the overall experience did not come close to matching the nearly $220 we paid. When I called, I was told Gel-X was $50, but we were charged a $60 base plus an additional $5 for a simple line and French tip 10$. The pricing felt misleading and unnecessarily inflated. While the technicians themselves did a good job, the front-desk experience was extremely frustrating. The receptionist mentioned that walk-ins are seated even if there are appointments, which makes me question why an appointment system exists at all if it isn't honored. The place was packed, and it was clear that the issue wasn't skill, but poor and greedy management. Unfortunately, this ruined what was supposed to be a special outing for the girls. Nail ladies were nice and did a good job. Normally I am not one to complain but when I arrived I didn't think to ask the price of the gel x because most places I have gone it's a reasonable price. BUT when I went to check out $72 for this is straight robbery. They charged me an additional $12 for white tip?? There is a salon right down the road near target in Poway that I usually go to I just so happened to get Starbucks near by here and thought I'd give this place a shot. I am absolutely baffled at the price tag of $72 for a simple white tip. Also coming from a family that has done nails and owned many salons over the years, I know the price for purchasing supplies as I have the exact items of the "Apres" gel and the tips etc and to know how little the supply cost when going to a nail supply store and to be charged $72 feels so terrible. This is how Chroma does an acrylic takeoff and manicure. I told the nail tech 3 times that there's still powder and it looks sloppy. She refused to fix it properly saying that this is how nails look?? And kept rushing it. They refused to even call their manager when I tried to complain about the quality of the job. I was a customer since 2019, never coming here again. Horrible service and quality has gone all the way down. Save your $$ and go somewhere else read more

I come here often to get a gel manicure and a spa pedicure. Although I come here often, I do have a few eh moments. They charge $2 to use a credit card. I don't like that practice. The nails techs are so friendly, but don't always get the nail shape right. Depends on the nail tech. I like an almond shape. Sometimes it comes out rounded. Not a huge deal. Definitely make an appointment. But make it for early morning or in the afternoon. Not on a weekend if you can help it. Even with an appointment they sometimes make you wait. This salon cares more about squeezing money out of customers than actually providing a good experience. The nail techs do good work, but ownership has clearly lost sight of what customer service means--for both clients and their staff. I've been coming here for years, but after this visit, I won't be back. I came in for a dip manicure and gel pedicure and brought my two young daughters with me. I asked for simple polish on their hands and toes and even offered for them to share a chair since they're small. I was told no chairs were available, yet there was at least one open the entire hour-plus I was there. Instead, they were placed on a hard bench in the walkway--completely uncomfortable for them, and visibly awkward for the nail techs. The polish took less than 10 minutes total, and I was charged $40 for it. Despite spending nearly $200 with tip, they offered zero remedy or acknowledgment for the poor experience. When asked how the service was, I said mine was fine but that my daughters were uncomfortable. I explained I could've done their nails at home, but brought them for the experience--which they absolutely didn't get. The owners gave nothing but excuses. They ask how your experience was, but clearly don't care about the answer. It's all about the money, not the customer. read more

After being seated at a manicurist table I was greeted by the sweetest (A)My. I explained to her my needs and asked her for recommendations and improvements. I absolutely enjoyed her help and service. Manicures are new to me and this was only my third manicure but first at Chroma Salon. I look forward to returning and to see what Amy has planned for my nails. There is easy parking and right off the freeway in the same shopping area for Best Buy, TJMaxx, Petco and next door to Lenscrafters. My only visual con is that it could use a little cleaning. Let me start by saying-- I've been a loyal customer here for over 6 years since they've opened. Always had immaculate nails because of this place. I visit every 3-4 wks to get them done here. Now--- with new management, I come in ONCE & my nails are trashed. Suddenly there's no standard & the disrespect is the worst I've ever seen & experienced. First, I come in as a walk-in & I'm rudely ignored while staff runs around disorganized & confused. I'm told 20 min wait. No problem. As I'm waiting, more walk-ins arrive & all of them are serviced before me. Eventually I'm asked to sit in a pedi chair but I'm here for a dip mani only. They place a dirty, dip powder crusted pillow in my lap. Wow. She removes my prev dip powder & sees I have a green stain on a nail from plant fertilizer. Doesn't bother to ask me & ASSUMES it's fungus. She starts telling all the techs around me & other customers are looking at me. I tell her no, it's fertilizer for my plants. It's not fungus, I get my nails filed & done every 3 wks at least, religiously. She grabs a coworker who I assume is a supervisor. She rudely tells me it's fungus & I shouldn't come back & I should let my nails "air out". Again, embarrassing me in front of everyone. They continue my service after I explain it's just dye basically & she was able to rub it off to show a completely clean nail. Ok.. This dip mani was the most rushed, inexperienced service I have ever experienced. She filed my nails PAPER THIN (look at pic) when I asked her to be careful since they were on the thin side already. She kept catching my skin on the electric file. My nails are completely, obviously unevenly cut. (Pics). She didn't bother to clean up all the crust from the dip powder on my skin & let it crust under there. The dip is so sloppy & uneven to the point there are dips/ ridges on nails (pics). There's dip on my skin that she tried to CUT away w the cuticle clippers & I felt her cutting at my skin so I asked her to stop before she really cuts me. My nails are sooooo thin even w the dip that it hurts to touch things cause it's so cringey. She ruined my nails to the point that it would be painful to get re-done. I have to let them grow now & cut them. When I tried to pay even after all of this, the woman at the front desk was rude asking me what I "wanted". --- even after another customer came in, who may I add was very sweet & polite (the customer) to ask for a broken nail to be fixed that she got done yesterday. The nail tech who did it for her was rude & said it wasn't her. They argued w that poor girl. Don't come here if you want to be respected. I can't tell you how much I sincerely miss the old management here. Now I have to find a new place to go to after 6 yrs bc this new management ruined it in less than a month. If that. So saddened & disappointed even after I mentioned being so excited to finally be able to wear a bright color on my nails (I'm military) for my short time off from work. New management is AWFUL!! Can we all just take a minute to mourn what *was* Chroma? They were amazing, detailed and absolutely phenomenal at what they did. My dip mani would last weeks. My gel pedi, almost a month. I went once under new management thinking i would be positive and give it a try- both chipped off in a week and my pedicure is atrocious! I can see multiple layers off polish because none truly overlap. The fronts of my nails are bare (not painted even though I explicitly asked them to), and the undersides of my mani is gross and chunky from dip. They didn't even bother cleaning them. Whether they are dead or busy, they make sure to get you out as quickly as possible but STILL paying attention to minor details. That makes them the best in my eyes.
