Manicure and pedicure were ok. I brought my mom to get her nails done. (She doesn't speak English) so I was explaining to the lady what type of service she wanted. I have to add, my mom had gel and she didn't want it anymore and just wanted to do regular polish, so as I was telling the lady. She said that she would do the gel manicure, and I said again "oh no thank you, she just wants regular polish" the lady scoffed and turned. And the entiiiiire time my mom was getting her nails done with her, she had a hoooorrible attitude. Literally doing my mom's nails just to get them over with. And when my mom asked for a bit more filing the lady stopped and stared at me annoyed. Came into VIP nails spa today to get a full set and pedicure. Franny helped me with my full set. I loved her table side manners. I started the appointment hovering and staring over my nails as she worked. She was very PATIENT and allowed me to be overly descriptive. Being able to explain what I wanted made me feel very welcome. The chairs for pedicures are very comfortable!! Mimi did my pedicure which turned out wonderfully!!! I went here one time before for and it was an ok experience, they do not massage your legs good in my opinion. And I went here a second time because I do like the gel lasts a long time. The second time I went, they were very busy, but I had made an appointment at 12. I usually get the luxury experience, Which is $65. The lady that was doing my Pedicure told me she had another appointment coming up so if I can get the least expensive one which is $25 the most basic package. I told her I like to get the hot wax so I wanted the luxury experience. She said that she'll do the basic package $25 and she'll throw in the hot wax for me. She had told me I'll be paying $35 since I got gel. When I went to check out, they still charged me $65 because they charge me for the gel full price and they charge me for the hot wax. By the way for the basic package, it's supposed to come with a massage. Still see salt scrub. And I got neither one of those. I was very dissatisfied and will not be returning. read more

I quit biting my nails for New Years and they are now Lucious! I got a gel manicure somewhere else a week+ ago and it chipped and peeled off in 4 days! I know if I don't protect my nails as a life long biter I will bite them again. I called this morning and made an appointment explained the durability I was looking for. I work, go to the gym daily, have kids, dogs, dishes, laundry you name is and I don't baby my hands. My girl Lisa slammed it out of the park! I have never see someone more precise with their filing. My nails are flawless! The color is EXACTLY what I asked for when "describing what I saw on Instagram". There are no microscopic little defects that I am staring at in regret. Beautiful set up. Nice design. Great massages. Poor quality. This is supposed to be French tip gel nails, 2 days later and it is already chipping. This took 2 hours by the way, when most places take up to an hour so I thought maybe they were being thorough so the nail designs stay longer..I was wrong. While I was there, another girl came in complaining she had just gotten her gel nails done with them the day before and it was also chipping off. There are definitely better spots in San Diego. Some highlights as mentioned above, but their gel products do not last. read more

A few weeks ago, I went to this spa for the first time. I had a pedicure with no extras and the cost was $28.00. I always bring my own polish wherever I go to a spa. As I walked in, the manager noticed I had my own polish in a zip-lock bag. As the lady was getting ready to paint my toe nails (not the manager) I would hand over to her the different colors for each toe. When she was done, I handed her my cc and asked her to add an additional $4.00 to the $28.00 for her tip. Then she said the cost was $31.00. I ask why? Then the manager interrupted and said, "It was extra because of the different colors she had to paint for each toe." I said, "What difference does that make if it is one color versus a different color?" It did not make sense to me at all. It is not like I was using their colors. Then she raised her voice and said "Never mind, never mind!" So the lady hands me my receipt and I noticed there was an extra cost of $1.12 for (non-cash adj). I suppose because I paid with a credit card? So I signed my receipt and it was for #33.12. I'm set up with my bank to alert me of all the expenses I spend during the month. Then I noticed that VIP Nails and Spa put it upon themselves to add an additional $4.00 to my charge without me knowing. I immediately called my bank and reported this. I always save my receipts for this reason. This does happen anywhere you go, whether it is a salon spa, or a different merchant. read more

Great salon! I can confidently say this a great place to get your nails done because I've been here twice as a walk-in and both times they were so accommodating. The gel manicures I get here will legit last me up to a month with no chips or peels and I use my hands a lot for work. I've had different nail technicians each time but they were all great and equally qualified. I'm always one of those who walk in with a blank mind and I'm always scrambling last min to pick a color but they're super patient and they give me great ideas and great color combos. This time I wanted something Christmas related so together we picked a white base with a sheer sparkle on top. It's super subtle and I absolutely love it. If you're afraid of being nicked - don't be!! I've been cut at other places before when they clean my cuticles but that's NEVER happened to me here :) read more

It was my first time visiting here. I have to say that it was very bad. From the time I made a reservation over the phone before my visit, they spoke quietly. Even though I said I couldn't hear very well, he continued to speak in a whisper. On my visit, I told her I wanted the gel removed and some trimming done. She knew my nails were very thin, but she removed the gel with a very powerful machine and the trimming was not done perfectly. Both hands have a different shape. And still whispered. This place is great! It was quiet, clean, and extremely relaxing! They had plenty of colors to choose from, and I loved that it wasn't a large place filled to the brim with other people. I got a regular pedicure and gel manicure. My nail tech was Kevin and I think he did a great job. He took his time and double checked my nails as he went along. I also didn't feel pressured to buy more than I wanted, which I greatly appreciated! When we started my mani, I noticed that the color was coming out very see through and I was worried that I was going to come out with a lighter color than I wanted. Without any prompting from me, Kevin took his time and applied multiple coats until it was to HIS satisfaction, and that made me super happy! At other spas, I've had to ask nail techs to apply more coats - only to be given the side eye for being "that customer". They also had a paraffin wax treatment, which made my hands super soft at the end! The wax was pretty hot when applied it at first, but it honestly felt like I had just stuck my hands in a hot bath - nothing I couldn't handle! My last *gel* mani from another place only lasted a few days, but I am 2 weekends out and my nails still look beautiful! I'll be coming back before my next vacation!! :) read more

avoid this place. This used to be named Prestige Nails but they had 2.5 stars on Yelp so thats why they probably had to rename the place. So today, the nail tech did such a messy gel manicure for $35. When she applied the 1st coat of gel, it shrank near the cuticle. She kept trying to cover it up with more coats but it just kept shrinking each time. & she would say "no, thats just your cuticle." Now i'm left with nails with a think chunky coating & gel that shrunk at the edges. I asked for a discount but instead she'd just try to cover it up with more coats. In the end she rudely threw my hand & was like "you're done." with an attitude, & she still charged me the full amount. The messiest gel manicure i've ever had & expensive. First I want to start by saying the service is impeccable. I've been here Several times and everyone is nice. I reason I gave 3 stars is because thE services are about $5 more than competing nail salons (per service) in the area which I fine but I would expect the higher price point to come with more-And by more I mean CLEAN TOOLS. Every time this place pulls out a pumice stone or a file- it's been USED. (Barf emoji) literal dead skin and nail dust from a prior customer. The lady who did proceed to do the manicure proceeded to drill me about my eligibility to pay the amount once the manicure was done. Like I was going to dash out the store without paying or I would haggle over the prices once the manicure was done. Not only was I amused by her lack of awareness that a customer won't come into a salon without the ability to pay the money for the service rendered but I also was appalled that at the end of the manicure she did something half baked. What I had asked her to do and what she did was different. She argued at first that it was impossible to do the nail art & when I told her that her colleague had done the exact same nail art 2 years back, she just point refused. Never coming back here. They used old tools to clean your nails and tick you by putting in a sanitize bag.... Gross I didn't know until the end. She hurt me twice and she just giggled when I said ouch. Looks dirty in here and the chairs are very uncomfortable. If I knew they use the same tools I would have walked out. And after she just rinsed them with water not even alcohol. I can get so many infections and fungus on my toes. read more
