I love this place since they have combined the deli and the bakery. The gluten-free waffle is exceptional.

I thought I already knew what good donuts were. Then I tried the croissant donut after someone recommended it. I probably never would have ordered this on my own. I'm glad I did though, because it is my now the single best donut I've ever had. The crispy outer with the soft and doughy inner, is perfect. The cinnamon sugar on the outside gives it the perfect amount of sweet- not too overbearing. This donut might not look or sound like much, but give it a try! I travel 20 minutes from Fairborn just to get this donut every so often. read more

I stumbled upon this bakery while taking a walk in Springfield last week. You could smell the baked goods from the street (or maybe I just have a keen nose for baked goods lol) Everything looked so delicious and was moderately priced! The young lady who took my order was super sweet and patient especially with knowing it was my first time being there. I highly recommend visiting this bakery. Delectable. We honestly needed a solid bakery in Springfield that sold more than just donuts and wasn't made by a chain store. This place obviously bakes with love because everything was amazing. If you ever want something fun for breakfast, this is the place. Oh and the sourdough was the best I've EVER had (other than my own, of course) it's genuine sourdough, not like the bland stuff you get from Kroger. The sourdough is clearly baked traditionally in a Dutch oven as you get the nice residue from the bottom of the pan (if you know anything about cast iron, it's the best part and flavor of anything made with cast iron) bravo! Wow! This place is amazing! Everything is freshly homemade. I'll start with the stuff my bun. Dense & full of flavor. The spinach croissant was one of favorites. The crust was light & crispy and had a light buttery flavor ....ohhhhh yummmm. Everything was delicious but the absolute BEST thing was the square puff pastry filled with cream & raspberry jam. I can't begin to tell you how amazing it was. It was large enough for me to share as was everything else. I bought 7 items total And it was $21.50. Worth every penny! This is my absolute favorite Springfield establishment. The bakery items are wonderful, especially the drunken monkey bread and croissant donuts, but I honestly have not eaten anything from there that I do have not thoroughly enjoyed! For 2 years in a row now I have ordered Thanksgiving items in advanced and they have been absolutely delicious! This past Thanksgiving I got the pumpkin roll and a pecan pie and they were gone almost immediately after serving. I recommend this place to everyone who will listen! read more

We were doing some holiday shopping in Springfield and decided to visit this bakery for our first time. It did not disappoint! We purchased 2 of the pretzel boules and had them tonight for dinner with our soup. They were so very delicious. So, sooooooo much better than commercially made pretzel bread and rolls! Truly. Apparently they bring other breads out sometime after 2:00 pm and we were there slightly before. So the pretzel boules were all that we could try today. I can't wait to go back and try some of their other bread products. Oh yeah.....by the way, they had lots of delicious sweets available too. We tried an almond crossiant and chocolate chip madalaines. Very yummie! They are having a "soft" opening of a deli, which is next door, this coming Saturday. We will not be able to make that, but we look forward to trying out the deli in the near future. Just so you know, the overall ambience of the bakery is quite lovely. What's worse than a pretentious bakery in a town lacking pretentiousness? A bakery that uses the same pastry recipe and buttercream in almost every baked good that they serve. Flaky pastries and macarons does not a European bakery make. If that were the only requirements, then Kroger could be considered a European bakery, as one is able to purchase those items there as well. Perhaps it is the haughty attitude of one of the owners that makes it a "European" bakery. Perhaps looking down their nose at people is what makes it "European" bakery. This is a smaller town and I believe that discriminating against people based on the way they look is a terrible precedent set to conduct one's business. I come from a larger city with a multitude of bakeries influenced by many different cultures, and I have never had myself or a family member treated this way. And after spending a small fortune on baked goods, mediocre sandwiches and a "power" salad that ended up in garbage- I will not return to have my family feel debased again. Reputation is everything and theirs has been permanently sullied for myself and my family. read more

Stopped in Saturday morning, eager to try the pastries others have written such good things about. I give my review a 2 star only because the bakery was clean, well-lit, & had very easy parking for downtown. A side note: not handicap accessable. I purchased 2 savory breakfast items (not sure of the name as there was no sign but it contained scrambled eggs & bacon), a creme horn (the 1 item everyone seems to say is the best), an English muffin, & 10 macaroons. The macaroons were boxed in a special plastic holder. When I asked how to keep them fresh until the following day, the young lady said she would wrap the container in plastic wrap. She forgot to wrap it. The remainder of my order was placed in 1 box; 1 of the savory items was up against the creme horn which should have been packaged separately. I think this was an oversight by the person packaging my order because she was in such a hurry. Many issues can be overlooked if the food would have lived up to the reviews. Sadly, not 1 single item carried through. The savory items were nothing special and a bit on the bland side. I actually resorted to KETCHUP for some zip! The English muffin turned out to be nothing more than a very thick pancake with pieces of pecan. Butter & a bit of honey didn't really help so I put the rest out for the birds. (I realize that this is a European English muffin and not the crumpet-type we are used to here.) The creme horn, the item so highly praised, was possibly the biggest offense of them all. The pastry itself was remarkably hard and tasted like a biscuit. The filling was nothing more than icing (more cannoli filling than a good, whipped pastry cream). As I was making my purchases at 8:30 am, perhaps the creme horn was stale, left over from the previous day? As of right now, I have not tried the macaroons and am not sure I will. In the event that I do, I will amend my review. Food is always a matter of taste so many will not agree with my assessment. However, with where I live, I can just as easily go to Fairborn, Huber Heights, or Beavercreek for special treats, as I can go to Springfield, which is exactly what I will do next time. read more

Got burnt chocolate au pain on Tuesday. The girl seen that the top was very dark and put it in the bag. Got to my car and bit into it and the bottoms was burnt black. I went in and told the girl. She checked the others and they was all the same way. She then half offered my money back. I said no because it seemed like it was a problem for her. Love how charming this bakery makes North Fountain. Items sell out fast, so get there early. My favorites are items are their crullers, tarts, and fried cherry pies. Gelato is also good. Other items look beautiful, but are often too sweet or dry. For example, The liege waffle looked picture perfect, but tasted more like a crispy cookie. read more

While I am encouraged by this business going in downtown and hope that it succeeds, it is difficult to patronize when the bakery seems to be routinely out of items or things are only available certain days/certain times of day. Of the handful of times I have been by, there seems to be very limited stock available, and several items posted for that day are gone. Moreover, when we once asked about bread availability we were told it wouldn't be available until 3pm. Huh? Considering you close at 5pm, that leaves a grand total of 2 hours to buy bread. It's not as if there isn't demand .... look at how much business Blue Oven does at the local farmer's markets. The food itself is pretty solid, but between the limited hours (if you work, it's Saturday morning or bust) and the lack of stock, I can't justify making the effort to visit unless I'm already in the area. As a local resident who very much appreciates what you are trying to do, please address these issues. read more

Macaroons are fresh and taste just like they are suppose to (green was key lime / brown was root beer / purple was lavender-vanilla bean), and the cream horns are delightful with just the right amount of sweetness! They were sold out of everything else! Springfield and Urbana need good walk-in bakeries where you can go in and pick out something for the evening's dessert. Otherwise, it's Kroger, Meijer's, Walmart, Schulers and I won't spend a penny on their mass produced oily, tastless, greasy, HFCS ladened pastry so I drive far and wide to try handmade goodies in other towns and cities. I'm so lucky to have stumbled into Le Torte Dolci. They sell out quickly so get there early -- they are only open Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
