Very pleasant experience A cute walk to the cafe, and I was seated as soon as I walked in. Staff were kind, and answered my questions about the menu, as well provided me with a dinner recommendation which also turned out to be 10/10! I would definitely return here

Yummy, casual, table service brunch--mostly American style breakfast items but so fresh and so good! One of the better cappuccinos I've had in Italy. Unless you get there right when they open, you'll likely have a wait, but usually no more than 30 minutes. We got the La Vespe granola bowl and Parkdale with a cappuccino and Americano.

This was a memorable breakfast spot, we had to wait for 30min-1hour for a table but I would do it again! The food was so fresh and yummy. Everything we got was incredibly delicious, I really enjoyed their strawberry compote with toast since it tasted freshly made.

The mighty coffee cup -- guests can pick espresso, drip/filter coffee, or even canned nitro cold brew!

Look no further for one of Florence's greatest brunch and cafe experiences! I was immediately impressed by this shop's hip and quaint vibe, and felt right at home (as a tourist hailing from Seattle) thanks to the tasty coffee (served from a La Marzocco Linea PB), attentive and friendly staff, INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS breakfast food options, and of course the trad tatted mascot that adorns their cups and tote bags. My visit was a highlight of my trip, and though I didn't have to wait for a table, I wouldn't hesitate to commit the same "totally worth it" review if a queue had formed. Shops like this deserve the recognition, your patience will be rewarded!

Are you in Florence but you're sick and tired of croissants and cookies for breakfast ? Are you constipated from all the carbs and 0 fiber Italian diet? Well this is just the place for you! It was the most delicious amazing breakfast place! Every bite was a delight! I'm so happy I found this place.

Came here for lunch on our last day in Florence. The food was simple, but good! Your typical breakfast/brunch food and everything was presented nicely. I would recommend this place for a quick lunch.

We knew the food would be good because there was a long wait when we arrived. Great service and very nice staff. the food was excellent. Very fresh and flavorful and they have a whole fresh juice menu as well. my breakfast sandwich was so good I couldn't finish it and heated it up later that afternoon and it was still good. I will eat here every visit to Florence. The ambiance is also great and they have WiFi and space to work if you need it.

Amazing spot for brunch! The Huevos rancheros looked so good that our party ordered two of them and they did not disappoint. Excellent flavor and everything just worked!

This place is amazing! Great if you're looking for American breakfast/brunch. My friends and I come here all the time on the weekends and although it may seem very busy, the service is very fast so you will be seated in no time. The food also arrives extremely fast to the table and they serve you tap water for free! You can't go wrong with what you order and it is extremely easy to make an order vegetarian if you don't want meat. Additionally, the iced coffee and iced matcha latte is incredible and is served very quickly. There's outdoor seating for when it's nice out and the inside is a little big, but not too big.

Le Vespe Cafe is a great little breakfast spot, Europe in general does not have very many breakfast places other than a pastry. And this place was absolutely delicious, we wish that we found it earlier in our trip! The orange juice was freshly squeezed, and we ordered the Via del Leone & the Via dei Neri.. both were FANTASTIC! Obviously it was so good since we didn't let our phones eat first, we just dove right in.. sorry for the half eaten photos, but after we tried how yummy it was we needed to snap a quick pic (better than the picture I promise)! If you're craving a great breakfast spot with good service I would recommend here 1000%. Oh and I almost forgot, they gave us a really cool postcard to remember them by or to send home to our family which is what we ended up doing!

It's a bit of a walk outside of the center of Florence but we'd thought we'd see what the Italian vegetarian focus experience was like. It was serviceable, but not as great as we'd hoped. The concept is interesting...the menu changes every day depending on the whims of that days chef, so our experience could have been informed a bit by just what we experienced that day, and might have been completely different on another day. An issue sometimes with all vegetarian restaurants is they specialize in the concept of being vegetarianism, without necessarily specializing in a particular kind of food which can lead to a mish-mash of disconnected offerings which is what we found on the menu here. The night we were there, for example you could get Italian, Indian, and strudel main dishes...all vegetarian, but otherwise not specializing in any particular type of food. We also didn't have a reservation. They were nice enough to seat us, but the restaurant was not at all full in any of its rooms (at any point when we were there) and the person who seated us, made a point of telling us they prefer reservations and then seated us at probably the least desirable table in the restaurant, right next to the cash register and right across from the salads display case which was the most trafficked area of the restaurant with people ordering their food hovering right over our table. We definitely felt like we were being unnecessarily punished with this table, especially when there were plenty of other places we could have sat and the overall demeanor of the person who seated us made us feel like she felt like she was doing us a big favor and she had her limits. So kind of a bummer of an introduction to the place. You order by writing down what you want on a slip of paper they provide you with, and then bringing that to the cashier to pay. That's fine, but it's not exactly "service" like you might get at any other sit down restaurant with servers and a wait staff. The food came extremely quickly...at the same time as the wine...It's hard to complain about quick service, but at most other places we experience in Italy (and the rest of the world for that matter) you get your wine first and can enjoy it a bit before the food shows up. We felt rushed. Also, and I'm sure I'm coming off as awfully picky, but you can see the high scores I typically give in my other reviews so...but the chairs were really uncomfortable to sit on. I typically don't think about the chairs at restaurants...these chairs made me think about them. My wife and I shared a lasagna and a greens-filled calzone-like pastry for our mains. Both of these portions were super-large...we appreciate generosity in portions, but these were just too large for us to be able to finish...both, especially the lasagna were really rich and heavy dishes too. They checked the box for being vegetarian but didn't excel to star dishes in terms of flavor or presentation that we'd want again. The desserts looked amazing but by the time we had eaten as much as we could of the mains, we just didn't want anything else or to hang around. We had many vegetarian-friendly meals at many restaurants in the cities we visited in Italy on this trip. This one was easily the most disappointing. If we lived in town we might come by to try the desserts or to see if it's a completely different experience with an unnecessary reservation and different chef...but otherwise, it wasn't really worth the walk out of the center of Florence to eat here.

It would be the third sandwich spot on our trip, and we had been to a couple of bangers beforehand that set the bar. I was a bit worried that we were getting lured into a tourist trap because of the restaurant being by the duomo, but it was located behind it where there was much less foot traffic compared to the front facing Piazza Santa Maria Novella. We arrived around noon on a Sunday. My husband and I arrived early enough to beat the lunch crowd, so we had no wait at all. By the time we finished our sandwiches, we saw the queue out the door. There were a couple of high tables inside the restaurant, but there was more seating outdoor. I really liked how you can customize your sandwich the way you wanted down to the bread, meats, cheeses, and toppings. They didn't only have schiaccata bread, which I thought was cool. You had other options of breads like ciabatta. Panini Toscani allows you to sample their various meats, such as porchetta, proscuitto, mortadella, etc. As someone who doesn't eat pork, one of the employees had me sample their various cheeses instead. Since I've been eating schiaccati the past 2 days, I stuck to the same bread as a baseline and added soft cheese, arugula, spicy marinara, eggplant, and sundried tomatoes. I enjoyed my sandwich very much, and the crunch on the bread was everything.

Panini Toscani sits right near the Duomo, making it one of the most conveniently located (and…read morepopular) quick bites in Florence. The exterior is small and charming, with a line spilling out the door, while the interior is cozy and bustling with limited seating. The vibe is lively, welcoming, and very interactive, with opportunities to taste their various meats and cheeses. There's Italian and English menus to peruse before you create your customizable sandwich; the amount of options is almost overwhelming, though sampling can help alleviate this "problem." We arrived at around noon on a Wednesday, and waited around fifteen minutes; the line moves fast, despite being out the door! You select from a variety of breads, meats, cheeses, and four additional toppings; they will then lightly toast your sandwich, and you pay at the front counter. I opted for their Ciabatta Toscana with Porchetta (roast pork), Stracciatella (a shredded creamy cheese similar to burrata), rucola (arugula), pepperoni sotto aceto (peppers in vinegar), pepperoni grigliati (grilled peppers), and melanzane (eggplant). My panini was a wonderful blend of textures and flavors; the bread had a crisp exterior and a pillowy-soft interior, the roast pork was succulent and well-seasoned with an herby crust, the straciatella added a creamy richness, and the various vegetables packed an acidic punch. The sandwich was also quite a generous portion, leaving me full for hours. In terms of price point, I believe I ended up paying around €12, which was quite affordable, especially given the central location, interactive experience, and generous portions: excellent value for a high-quality quick meal.

From the outside, it looks like a grand, iron-and-glass structure typical of European markets; inside, it opens into a bustling, multi-level space filled with food vendors, communal tables, and constant movement. The vibe is energetic, social, and slightly chaotic in a fun way - perfect for grazing, group dining, or trying multiple cuisines in one visit (from Italian to American to Mexican!). We stopped in for a quick lunch at around 2pm on a Wednesday; there was plenty of seating at high-top tables, and QR codes on paper menus make it easy to explore all the different food vendor options. It's also a fun activity to peruse the market, taking in different sights, smells, and flavors. All of us ended up opting for Schiacciatas (large Italian sandwiches that are a staple in Florence) from Massimiliano Parri, which all ended up ranging from €10-12, depending on toppings - yes, it's more expensive than what you'd get from a traditional schiacciateria, but you're also paying for the market's location and convenience. We appreciated the fact that they shave the meat right in front of you! My schiacciata came with freshly shaved ham atop crusty white bread, slathered with burrata cheese, and sprinkled with arugula and figs (I opted for no additional olive oil, since I found the ham quite rich already). I loved the contrast of textures and flavors, though I will say that the bread ended up cutting the roof of my mouth! All in all, Mercato Centrale is a bit touristy, but still miles better (and cheaper) than most "Italian" sandwich places you'd find in the US (pro tip: save your receipt for free use of their bathrooms). The variety can't be beaten, prices are reasonable for a central market, and it's steps from some of Florence's most iconic spots.
