In 2016 I switched to a new agency. We told Cataldo we were taking our business elsewhere. I told my mortgage company not to pay any escrow out to the policy with them just in case. Our new insurance agent contacted Cataldo to let them know.... 2016- Cataldo sends in an auto payment request to our escrow account. Which gets paid. Causes months worth of headaches as my mortgage company tries to increase my mortgage payments to cover the escrow "shortage" created by double paying for home insurance. We got the money back eventually but it was a huge hassle. 2017- We get ANOTHER renewal notice in the mail from Cataldo. We call and leave them a message "Hey, we aren't your customers. Don't submit this." Our new insurance company tells them "Hey, they aren't your customers. Don't submit this." But today I see that my mortgage company (again in direct contradiction of what I told them to do) has paid out for insurance in the amount of the policy we told Cataldo not to submit BECAUSE THEY DON'T REPRESENT US ANYMORE. Buyer beware folks. Apparently, they never let go.

The owner is one of the classiest guys I have ever met. He was kind, compassionate, and re-assuring. His relaxed and family oriented approach was a refreshing sight in such a competitive industry. I ended up recommending this agency to some friends and family. The owner, lived up to his fair reputation and actually informed a number of my referrals that they were better off staying with their provider and that their coverage was sound. I will always, always, ALWAYS tell people to just go here and have a conversation about your coverage. They will give you an updated quote and an honest answer. They will not disappoint.

She was extremely helpful in switching our auto insurance and also trying to save us money on our homeowners insurance. As life would have it, only a few months into our new insurance, my wife and I were awoken by the police at 2am. Someone had drunkenly backed down our street and scrapped up the side of one of our cars (along with at least one other on the street). One of our neighbors had seen the entire incident and called the police. The officer took our information and said he'd have a report for us in a few days. When we finally got the police report, almost all the information for the drunk driver and witness was blacked out. I tried dealing with a claim through our insurance, and they were LESS than helpful. Out of frustration I spoke with Amanda about the situation, and she said she'd see what she could do. OH MAN DID SHE GET IT DONE!! Amanda called the police department and asked for the driver's information and insurance company. Their reply? "This is America . . . [they should have their own insurance], you need to protect your belongings." Absolutely despicable (yes, that officer is DEFINITELY getting reported). Through her own time and research, Amanda eventually found out the other driver HAD THE SAME AUTO INSURANCE COMPANY I DID! The insurance company didn't even check their own system for the other guy's insurance. Amanda was cool, calm, and collected through the entire process, and I KNOW I wouldn't have been able to deal with any of this without her. Worst insurance agency ever!…read more I needed insurance same day, and at the time Massachusetts had an outdated requirement that auto insurance policies be received wet ink signed by an agent to be considered valid, so most of the better carriers (Progressive, Geico, Amica) were out of the question. I called to get a quote and was told if I wanted a policy that day I needed to head to the office in a hurry because the only agent there wanted to head out early (2pm on a weekday). This should have been my first clue! I got a policy and and paid the 20% down, as I didn't have $1000 in cash on me (no checks/no credit cards accepted here). When I called up a few weeks later to see where to send the rest of the $, the agent was completely rude and acted like I was an idiot for not knowing to send it to Encompass (his agency) instead of him. When it came time for renewal, I got a good laugh. Their offer for renewal was 175% the average of their competitors. $1400 for a policy I could get from Progressive for $800? DENIED! I switched, called to cancel and was hung up on once I told them I would not be renewing and was switching to Progressive. Ok, that's professional... If that were the end of it, they would be getting a 3-star review. Maybe 2 at the worst. Flash forward 9 months, I am receiving daily calls from CCS, their debt collection outsourcer. They never cancelled my policy and are hunting me down for $120 (first month's premium before they default-cancelled my policy). In the past 3 weeks I have had to call 6 different "divisions" of Encompass, all while getting morning & evening wake-up calls from CCS, to get this matter resolved, and each one of them keeps trying to push me back to Central Square, claiming it is the agent's responsibility to process my non-renewal. Agreed! Get him to do it then or drop him as an authorized agent! Bottom Line: Both Central Square and their agency (Encompass) are the worst insurance providers ever -- both on price and on service. The Massachusetts Commissioner of Insurance should shut these guys down!
