As I write this, there are 80 reviews with an average of three stars. I will call that accurate. Although I must say the remodel/redecoration of this location makes it a bit more inviting than it used to be. The counter service is fast and friendly, the menu is vast, with a LOT of variety - sandwiches, po-boys, comfort food, seafood, salads, pizza - something for everyone. And the food is good. Not the best you've ever had, but it's good. We came here this time specifically for the fried mushrooms. They are really good. Everything else was okay. The fried fish was good - nicely breaded, mild catfish (no muddy taste), and good crispy fries. The shrimp remoulade salad is kind of puzzling, though. Small, unseasoned boiled shrimp on a pile of lettuce. After being boiled with no seasoning, the shrimp are then heavily coated with red pepper (or maybe Cajun seasoning). And the remoulade sauce is in small condiment cups on the side - barely enough to dress the salad. But most of the food here is pretty good (the burgers are massive), and most plates come with enough for some extra to take home. Been to here many times and one thing I can ALWAYS say is consistency. It doesn't matter what you get, it's going to be good. Tonight ordered a Jalapeño melt, never had it before and it was extremely delicious. It didn't disappoint for sure. The jalapeños were not hot or spicy but gave a great flavor. The service was extremely friendly and quick to get our food out tonight. The atmosphere was quiet as there wasn't many people in the restaurant at the time we were there. Don't let that fool you, because this place is normally pretty packed. I do forget about this place but this place is definitely a go to place. read more

Absolutely amazing! I'm sharing this so others will give them a second chance if they've had a less than stellar experience in the past, as I did about two years ago. This visit was a pleasant surprise! The burger was divine - the good quality meat was cooked to a perfect medium rare. The stuffed potato was delicious, and the thin onion rings were fantastic: perfectly crispy and well-seasoned. Although I only ordered these items, they were all outstanding! The customer service was excellent; the girls at the register were extremely helpful and very kind. While tipping is optional since they don't bring your food or drinks to the table, I gladly chose to tip based on the exceptional service I received. read more

Their burgers are really good. Sourdough soft bun. I never get mine toasted. The mac and cheese is penne which I think is overwhelming and big. A nice shell would be better because their cheese is so good but most ends up at the bottom of plate and a shell would hold it better. Worth getting though. Place looks clean. They have a pool table in a separate room that looks clean and bright as well. You order at cashier station and then have a seat and then go pick up when called. I will return. Just had the worst shrimp poboy ever! I had to give them 1 star but in reality they don't deserve 1 star. The bread was old and stale. The person took my order got it completely wrong!! Had lunch with former coworkers yesterday. We were a party of 6. You order at the counter and give your name and your name is called when your order is ready. We ordered 2 hamburger steak specials, which is a 10oz patty covered with grilled onions and au jus plus mashed potatoes and gravy with green beans and 2 buttered French bread slices. Another peer ordered a warm turkey and cheese wrap fully dressed with ranch dressing add avocados plus a side of thin crispy onion rings. Another peer ordered a jalapeño burger with pepper jack cheese plus a side of French fries. The final member ordered a French dip roast beef po boy with au jus and an additional dipping sauce with a side of French fries. The favorites of the visit were as follows: the special was tasty, filling and we left clean plates. The turkey and cheese wrap was delicious and filling according to my peer and she took half home. She said the second half was just as tasty cold at home. All in all we enjoyed the casual atmosphere, fair prices, and food we all enjoyed. I look forward to a return visit. read more

Julie seriously loves the potato skins here. We went way out of our way for them! It's a big restaurant with a lot of seating! Walk up to the counter to order, they are good at getting your order right. It's clean but the floor could use a fresh coat of paint. It's fun they call out the customers names when their order is ready. My two complaints are 1 they cut your burger in half, and 2 they give you a glass of ice with some soda in it rather than a glass of soda with some ice in it pretty minor complaints. It's a good size menu and the food is good. Food is fresh, bathrooms are clean and plenty of parking. read more

PASS $40 got us a sad meal. Part of that was a bacon cheeseburger with 0 cheese or dressing. Just a burger and bacon on a completely different bun than what was described on the menu. We added the cheese...that was in our fridge... The rest of the meal was cheese fries that we had to add cheese to. And an "ok" shrimp poboy. Absolutely delicious and the staff was WONDERFUL! I travel for work and stumbled across this restaurant because the parking lot was packed! I ate at the bar and felt completely comfortable and enjoyed a delicious burger and sweet potato fries. Highly recommend!! read more

If you can't find something you like on this menu, you have problems. I got the Cajun Fish, which was crawfish etouffee over fried fish, a twice baked potato and salad. It was delicious! My husband got the Cowboy burger, he said it was good. It's huge! Skinny onion rings (onion strings) were well seasoned and perfectly crunchy. Had lunch here today We ordered the potato skins they were not good in fact the frozen ones at the grocery are better but that being said everything else was great. My granddaughter got the shrimp pasta it came with a salad and garlic bread the pasta needed a little salt but that's all. I ordered the country fried steak it wasn't that big but it was fresh not frozen and super tender, it was topped with cream Gravy but you could get brown if you wanted to, it was the lunch special it was $8.99 came with field peas and mashed potatoes I subbed the mashed potatoes for french fry's. The place was clean the food came out pretty fast and the staff was friendly. If you enjoy pool they have a pool table also a ms pacman machine a claw machine and some candy machines. read more

This was a wild experience and I hope not representing of normalcy. Bar/server was great and very helpful and persistent with cooks. But it took almost 75 minutes to get food once ordered. The bar server compensated us with free beers and cakes. Meal was good for burgers and such. read more

One of the biggest things I've been looking forward to in my move back to Ascension Parish is being closer to Brewbacher's in gonzales. It's the best-I kid you not! For those of you that are looking for a good hamburger, you can't go wrong at Brewbacher's. While you're at it, make sure you get it with their sweet potato fries and have a friend order their chicken sandwich on a croissant. Heavenly! Because I'm watching my food intake very closely and am doing low carb, I typically stick to their hamburger steak and au jus with a side salad and steamed veggies. The hamburger steak takes up the whole plate. Not exaggerating in the least either. Their salads (especially the club) and their homemade ranch dressing are also amazing! Point being, you can't go wrong! Would've done 4 stars, but sometimes it's a little dirty inside and could use a good wipe down. The service and food are always on point though! I'm rating this place a 4 star which is "good" in my book. Pros: Super good fried mushrooms!!! They were small and held a good flavor. Good shroom -to- batter ratio. Delicious! Some of the best I've ever had! The thin cut onion rings were great as well. Light and crispy. Yummy!! Mediocre: The burger. It was very fresh and juicy. Cooked well. But lacked in flavor. We added salt and pepper to it. It's better than average but all in all just ok. Cons: The place could have been cleaner. There was a lot of small trash on the floors (napkins, straws etc.) and it was a bit dark in there. The burgers are a tad pricey for counter service AND to not come with fries or anything. This place would be GREAT with a fresh coat of paint, a little clean up and some wait staff or a small cut to the prices. I would def go back if not for anything but the mushrooms!!! read more

I've been here a couple times before and had a pretty decent experience. Not this time though. I came in and sat at the bar as usual. The bartender never even acknowledged that I was there. She walked by me twice and never even said I'll be right with you. Sat there for 15 minutes when finally another employ came up and asked if I had been helped. I told him I hadn't and he asked what I wanted. I placed my drink order with him and he said he's have to get the bartender to make it. He tells her what I wanted and she goes right back to doing other stuff. I wait another 5 minutes and finally just said forget it. I won't say I'll never be back because the food has been good in the past but they really do need to step up the service. If you're going to hire hot young girls as bartenders at least make sure they have a brain and some customer service. read more

We watched as no less than 20 customers walk out because they were told it would be over an hour for any order to be completed. (We were not told that when we ordered) There were 5 tables occupied when we left. Only one other table had their food. When we asked for the manager the young lady up front said the manager was in the kitchen. We got no apology or explanation. It was Saturday night at 6:00 and the place was practically empty. We sat in the side room, musty dirty carpet, can not believe they haven't pulled it out yet. I also forgot how expensive they are for the small portions. Two po-boys and potatoe skins was $36. Food was so disappointing, knowing how good and fresh they used to be 10 years ago. Roast beef was like store bought lunch meat heated up, chicken was over cooked and chewy.
