I had an opportunity to go skiing for the first time but working in the airport seeing all those passengers coming thru with hard cast and arm in slings and crutches and wheelchairs. My mind was made up I wasn't going skiing on anyone trial. Gunnison is a really small county of 11,000 people. Everyone is very friendly and the town is really festive for the holiday's. The airport is very small and it has one restaurant Elevate Cafe. They serve a mean chilli and nachos, hot dogs, turkey, ham and roast beef sandwiches and subs. They also serve hot pretzels and its a nice cozy spot. The altitude in Gunnison, Colorado is 7703 and Crested Butte 8,909′. Those altitudes really had me with nose bleeds and some of my co workers had head aches. One of my co workers had to go to the hosp but he just needed oxygen and some rest. Hes fine. But the time I had here I truly loved but I can't do the altitudes. You have to make sure you drink anlot of wster and if your a smoker it will be extremely difficult. Side effects, The airport only has two lanes and 85 % of the time there will only be on lane open. It's very important to arrive to the airport 2 hours before your flight. Cresent Butte, Colorado is the main ski resort and they have some expert skiers it's exspensive but they have some excellent restaurants in Cresent Butte. My favorite restaurants were Ryce and Elk Ave Prime. Gunnison has some very good authentic mexican restaurants. a Alpine Brewery my fav for beer selection and delicious brick oven pizza. I have one more day here and a few of the local TSA officers came along for dinner to El Paraiso Family Mexican Restaurant. So when your in Gunnison please check out the cute town and all the little shops along with Cresent Butte for skiing and dinning. Yelper until my next foodie adventure #FOODIE4LIFE

As this is a tiny airport that is shut during the winter and only operates during the summer…read moremonths, it rather feels like a glorified bus terminus. Yet, the employees at the desk and at TSA were professional while also helpful and jovial. It feels like the best of a small town atmosphere, where folks cannot hide behind anonymity so they pull their weight, do a good job and try not to get a reputation for letting their colleagues down. As far as I can tell, flights are only supported from Denver or Houston as connector hubs (for United Airlines). The airport only has a few vending machines, and barebones office chairs as 'waiting area'. Car rentals are available here. Please don't make the employees lives more difficult by showing up at the last minute, so allow the full hour ahead of a domestic flight in order for them to take your luggage. This might be the cutest little airport I have been to in the U.S.

I really enjoyed the small town feel of this airport. No lines, no departure and arrival ques and no monstrous police presence. It's a very casual and easy going airport that is a joy to navigate. It's a very clean airport and it's very well maintained. I parked about fifty yards from the front door and walked right in. I wish I could fly out of this airport instead of Denver International Airport on all my business and leisure travel.

This is the hangar that JSX flies into/out of in the Denver/Boulder area. While a bit off the…read morebeaten path, it's easier to get to and closer to downtown Denver than Denver International Airport. Like most private hangars, drop off is a breeze and there are no crowds or long TSA lines to get through. As a business traveler, I highly recommend traveling through BJC versus DEN if it's an option.
