Keys for the outdoor men's and women's restrooms (May 2026)
    Luke L.

This is one of several newly opened third-wave coffee shops in Monterey Park over the last few years. The coffee shop started at farmers markets and now the shop has the current brick-and-mortar location. [Parking]: There is a free parking structure behind the plaza so parking shouldn't be an issue; however, I did have to drive up to the third level of the structure to find an available parking spot on Saturday morning. [Amenity]: Not a huge coffee house with few outdoor chairs and six indoor tables. The shop was not crowded at 10 AM on Saturday, so it didn't take long for me to receive my order. There is no restroom inside the cafe, but keys for the outdoor men's and women's restrooms are available at the cashier counter. [Menu]: Unlike other matcha shops, this coffee house offers three different varieties of ceremonial-grade matcha (Kagoshima, Chiran, or Asanoka) from Fukuoka, Japan for customers to pick. Yelp's top three highlighted drinks are Furious George, Dear Jasmine, and Luxurious George. Please note that 2% lactose-free milk is the default and customers also need to choose one of two espresso options for lattes: light-medium roast (Manhattan - Ethiopia & Colombia) or medium-dark roast (Vietnam). For baked goods, they offer muffins and croissants & I even spotted an interesting items like kimchi & spam croissant. *** Furious George (2 shots of espresso, sweetened with cane sugar, flavored with vanilla and banana balanced by milk (2% Lactose Free, 100% Sweet, Regular, Regular Hot, Manhattan Blend Med-Light espresso - $7.75): A lightly sweetened solid latte. *** A good coffee shop for local community college students from East Los Angeles College (ELAC) to stop by and recharge.

Where did the flavor go? I've been to Leaflet a few times, the last time sometime last year or early this year during winter. I've only had the Luxurious George (pretty good but $8+), both hot and cold, and told myself today is the day I'll try something different. I came in around 10:20 AM (Wednesday mid June), and it was pretty busy -- all seats were occupied (there's actually a good amount of indoor seating for the small unit), but there wasn't much of a queue, just two people in front of me. It was actually the only time I've seen it so busy, maybe because it's summer and the morning? During my past visits, I would stop by in the afternoon. Today I ordered The Blue Butterfly. It was beautifully layered. I gave it a good mix, and initially I tasted the flavors, but as I kept drinking it just tasted... bland. Mostly milk and barely any sweetness, which was kind of good, but I didn't modify anything (milk, sweetness, ice), so I wonder what lower levels of sweetness taste like. Prices range from $7 to $10, a bit above average compared to other tea and coffee places. Leaflet isn't typically my go-to, but it is convenient because it's nearby and they have early hours. But today was pretty disappointing. I don't know if there's been a change in their process or ingredients, or if it was just the drink I ordered, but I don't think I would come back soon. I was lucky to find parking immediately in front of the unit behind Leaflet. It was a 15-minute spot, but I was ordering for to go anyway. The plaza can be super busy sometimes, and the parking slots are pretty compact. There is also a garage in the back if you don't mind taking stairs and walking extra.

This is by far my favorite coffee house in LA. I recommend it to everyone I talk to and I am constantly walking around with a cup from here in my hand. The drinks are incredible, the lattes are rich with flavor and espresso. My personal recommendations are the 'Of Spice and Bees' and the 'Dear Jasmine'. Not to mention their croissants are flaky, warm, and tasty. The staff are incredible. Kind, quick, and likeable. I always feel at home when I walk in. And whether I grab my fix on my way to work or I sit for hours doing work on my laptop, I never get tired of this place. The music that plays makes the whole place feel cozy. The decor is super cute and I love their commitment to their community seen in the flyers posted around of different public events and community outreach. This is truly the best spot in the neighborhood.

I wanted a quick fix for my matcha cravings so I decided to come here since there were great reviews. Upon arriving, the server was extremely welcoming & friendly! He took his time in explaining the drinks to us with their respective options. I decided to go with their most expensive matcha ($8.95) since I am very particular with the quality. I waited around 10 minutes before receiving my drink. The drink was a vibrant green & appeared very promising. Upon my first sip, all I tasted was milk. I was quite disappointed. I didn't get the matcha taste that I was looking for. I was expecting more since it was their best matcha. I don't think I would come back again for their matcha, although their customer service was great.

Staff is very friendly and helpful Has about 5 tables inside to sit and chat with friends. Some seating on the outside as well. I got the 2 shots of espresso, sweetened with brown sugar, jasmine flavor and your choice of milk (Lactose free 2% as default) I got the viet blend for my coffee and it was mild and wasn't sure strong. You have two options of beans for your coffee. One is stronger than the other and the barista will advise you of the difference. I can taste the coffee and the jasmine tea notes, which was very refreshing and pleasant.

Super cute shop with limited seating inside. There are a couple seats out front too though. The shop is in like the middle of a plaza and the parking wraps around it. It was pretty packed when I got there on a Saturday morning but we got lucky and found a spot near the entrance. I think there's also a parking structure if the lot gets full I like that this place also offers a Vietnam vs Manhattan blend so you can decide how strong you want the coffee to be Furious george: 5/5 got this with the Vietnam blend. Surprisingly the coffee flavor wasn't too strong for me. I also liked that the banana flavor wasn't artificial Also liked the pandan with the Vietnam blend. Not as sweet as the other ones that I've had and more nutty

Everytime I come to this area I searched for a new coffee spot to try. Yesterday after we went golfing we stopped by this cute little coffee shop. I love that it has a lot of parking at the back. Small little coffee shop that has a wonderful and sweet staff. I got the "V for Vanilla" coffee with the Vietnamese style espresso and it was soooo damn good. I literally drank my coffee in less than 10 minutes. I got it 100% sweet which I was scared of and I asked the staff if it was on the sweeter side and she said it shouldnt be as sweet and I'm glad I listened because the sweetness was perfect for me. Service was fast, staff was really really nice and sweet. And the coffee place is so clean and cute. I love how homey it is in there. I would want to try other things on their menu. They also have some pastries that they sell as well.

Furious George (50% sweetness, Vietnam roast, almond milk)

Was driving through the area and looking for my morning coffee and decided to stop here. Leaflet has some amazing flavor combos to choose from. I ultimately decided on the "furious George" which is a banana and vanilla latte. I love the ability to customize your drink. I was able to adjust sweetness, milk, and even pick which of the espresso roasts I wanted. They explained to me the difference between the two and how the roast impacts the flavors in the drink. I went with the Vietnam roast which brings more of the flavor out in the banana. I also dropped my sweetness down to 50% and it was perfect! Not too sweet but the banana comes through. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. The space is cute, but small. Not great for large groups to congregate and hang out but enough space to sit and enjoy your drink with a friend or two or to do some light work or studying. There is parking all around, including a structure in the back. I found a 15 min spot just on the side. I'll be back here for sure.

This is a very underrated coffee shop in the Monterey Park area! Conveniently located on Atlantic Blvd with nearby food, bookstores, and shops along the street, this coffee shop has accessible parking spaces. The shop itself is small and has suitable seating for their size but has a relaxed and comfortable environment that makes you want to come back. I have visited this shop multiple times, trying their different coffee/matcha options and I was always pleasantly surprised. I love their blend of simple and creative options that make you intrigued to try them based on the names (e.g., Furious George)! Their coffee and matcha is the perfect way to start your day or in the middle of the day as a sweet treat. They have available pastry items including different croissants (i.e., original, ham and cheese) if you would like to add into your purchase. Their personnel are always friendly, greeting you as soon as you enter the door with a smile and bright energy. They never fail to answer any questions we may have and provide us with their best sellers and personal opinions on the drinks - which are useful to newcomers who have never tried their drinks. Definitely recommend to anyone looking to support smaller businesses and for those looking for good coffee!

Leaflet Coffee & Tea House in Monterey Park is such an aesthetically cute spot. The space feels cozy and thoughtfully designed, making it a great place to relax, catch up with a friend, or just enjoy a drink in a calm atmosphere. One thing that really stood out to me was the staff. Everyone here was incredibly friendly and helpful, which made the experience feel even more welcoming. You can definitely tell that their specialty is the matcha drinks. They seem to put a lot of care into them, and that's clearly what they're known for. I did try the Le Vie En Rose Latte, and unfortunately it was a little disappointing. I was expecting more of a rose flavor, but it mostly just had dried rose petals on top and I couldn't really taste the rose in the drink itself. Overall, it's still a very cute café with great service, and if you're a matcha lover it's probably a great spot to check out.

    Kagoshima matcha latte
    Sarah Y.

Cute little spot with unique options! I got the Kagoshima matcha which was solid (rich, balanced, moderate astringency according to their menu). I personally prefer a higher matcha to milk ratio, but it was still solid! I appreciated the other matcha options to choose from (i.e. Kyoto, Okumidori), which made it a fun experience rather than having one standard matcha option. There is a parking lot but it may take a few rounds to find parking sometimes. Friendly staff.

Lavender Matcha Latte w/ Oat Milk
    Sydney O.

Stopped by here because I was on a lunch break and wanted a little bit of a pick me up. This cafe was recommended so I looked at the menu and got the lavender matcha latte. Honestly very delicious and not too sweet which I love! Some matcha lattes are made with a little too much sugar and like the slight bitterness to this. The cafe was cozy and cute and the workers there were all very efficient and friendly. Overall, a very pleasant experience and I hope I can come back again soon when I'm in the area again!!

Post theater coffee - got the Furious George!
    Tom M.

Always on the lookout for cafes to try and leaflet popped up on the radar! So glad we made the time to stop by (though check their hours as they close in the afternoon). Ordered the furious George and my girlfriend got the mocha! We loved both and got the Vietnam and Manhattan espressos respectively! I'm curious how different the mahattan would have made it though. The inside of the cafe has a super cozy vibe - lots of wood and plants - def worth a check out if you're in Monterey Park!

The coffee was well-made - it wasn't burnt, overly bitter, or sour, so the extraction seemed solid. However, the flavor felt flat and watered down. It lacked the aroma, body, and rich roasted notes that make a cup memorable. Nothing really stood out, leaving it tasting more diluted than satisfying. Also, I don't think the barista could froth the coffee well. Instead of a nice velvety, dense froth, the froth was a bubbly foam (see photo). Food - 3/5. I visited around 9 a.m., but the pastry selection was surprisingly limited (see photo). The pastries also didn't taste particularly fresh; they had more of the texture and flavor you'd expect from pastries sitting out later in the day rather than freshly baked items you'd hope to find early in the morning. The café has a modern, hip vibe and a warm, inviting atmosphere. It's spacious, with plenty of seating, making it a pleasant place to spend some time. Overall, Smoking Tiger Coffee Lab is a fine neighborhood café if you're looking for a comfortable place to sit and enjoy a coffee. Unfortunately, neither the coffee nor the food left much of an impression. Nothing was particularly bad, but nothing really stood out either. While the ambiance is probably its strongest point, the coffee is just average.

The cold foam was quite underrated and I could taste a hint of banana flavor. The drink wasn't as sweet as I had expected - I liked it. Breakfast burrito (Refried beans, soyrizo, tofu scramble, crispy hashbrowns and sliced avocado wrapped in a flour tortilla - $13.50): Portion wasn't huge, but it also wasn't small enough to finish in one sitting. It had one of the softest texture for breakfast burritos. The soyrizo was very flavorful. It also came with a side of salsa - quite spicy but flavorful at the same time. *** I probably still prefer meat-based breakfast burritos, but their soyrizo breakfast burrito is quite good and the coffee drink is excellent (4.5-star for both items). I would definitely recommend this small coffee shop for a quick grab-and-go.

Found this place on Instagram, so we drove down from Pasadena...and it was well worth the drive…read more The store is super cute inside with a fun seating area. I wished we had arrived earlier to be able to enjoy more of the sold out offerings, but next time we'll arrive right when they open. We ordered a dozen crinkle cookies for a Mother's Day lunch - enjoying the sweet ube and the spiced thai tea versions. Both were great compliments to each other - more perfectly sweet and the other a bit more herbal. The chocolate chip cookie was perfect - nice crunchy edges and slightly gooey soft inside. The ube tres leches was a little disappointing as there wasn't any tres leches cake at the bottom, just crumbly graham crackers resting below exquisite ube mousse. It could have been mislabeled, but it was essentially just ube mousse with crumbly graham crackers for texture. The staff were friendly and the store is so fun!

Finally had a chance to try this place service was great…read moreand staff was very helpfully Place was kept clean they had a variety of different desserts and drinks I got the ube tres leche and ube blondie brownie They were both good but the ube brownie was my favorite! I'm Mexican so the l tres leches was a little dry to my liking and lacked the ube flavor in my opinion I will return to try the other treats they have So if you're in the montebello area and haven't been here definitely give them a try I got a latte as well and it was well made
