I was in need of a pick me up and HGC&T was nearby. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Very interesting interior with local artist items.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The iced horchata latte was nice and light. Good flavors and thick. The guy taking orders and making the coffee was nice. Street parking

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Took my lady here she never been here before and wanted coffee with awesome ambience which the water fountain set the tone with numerous small glass mirrors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The coffee was excellent too.

I've been here a few times and every time the coffee is great, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and the pastries and good. If I'm ever in the area I make sure to stop by here and get my coffee.

Great hidden coffee & tea cafe with homeboy bakery goods and sandwiches located in el sereno industrial area. Super friendly service and the best cafe ole' around. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Cool little patio with fountain.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Plenty of street parking in front. Free WiFi.

A unique cute place which requires street parking. Staff are friendly and easy to make conversation. The menu is simple which is great if you suffer from choice-paralysis. They do have a secret menu for drinks if any of those call out to you. The seating area is wonderful under nice SoCal weather. Lots of tables and good atmosphere for studying or chatting with friends while the fountain runs in the background. Food and drink arrived at a good pace. The grilled cheesus sandwich is delicious! It's hard to find places with grilled cheese as a main dish on their menu that isn't a sad version of a burger or on a kid's menu. This one was worth it. They even offer a side to accompany it. I got the pickles option. I ordered the horchatta latte from the secret menu and it was good! Only a tiny bit on the sweet side, but I normally order 50-75% sweet on drinks. So personal taste may vary.

If you live or work near El Sereno, then more than likely you've heard of Holy Grounds. It's a little breath of fresh air amongst the row of businesses and storage facilities that surround it along what feels like a never ending street, Valley Blvd. Some might even describe it as a little hidden oasis - with a secret garden-like patio - in this (dare I say) urban jungle. My go-to favorites are the hot cafe de olla without creamer and breakfast sandwich. Honestly, you can't beat these prices (the breakfast sandwich is only $5.50!). But don't try to call in advance to order for pick-up. It's a busy place and with food made to orders, so it requires a little patience. It's well worth it though! In the meantime, you can browse the curated selection of hand-made gifts made by local artists and artisans. Of course, they have their own Holy Grounds coffee and branded merch, too. If you have the time, I would encourage you to enjoy the patio - now that it's re-open! The smoothing fountain serves as your soundtrack as you sip on your yummy coffee, admire the arrangement of plants and bohemian decor, and don't forget to check out their built-in, multi-media altar near the patio exit door before you leave. It holds true to its name, as they have made it feel like a sacred space. For my laptop users, please note they do not have available outdoor outlets, but I have still worked from there. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, do NOT park in the liquor store next door as they are known to tow cars. Usually, you will find ample street parking in front or across the street.

The grilled cheese has tomatoes, but otherwise was delicious! It had a lot of nice, Smokey flavor and was definitely filling enough as a meal on its own. The coffee was very good as well, and they do have a secret menu. Check out the pictures some other yelpers posted. The big draw of this place, in my opinion, is the setting. They've put a lot of effort into making the outdoor area feel like an oasis with the fountain and cacti. There's a lot to look at, especially on the reliquary.

This coffee shop was recommended to me by a coworker and wow am I grateful. I was welcomed with friendly faces and an overall calm from the entrance before I ordered an horchata latte with oat milk and a coffee cake. The latte was just the right amount of sweetness and didn't have any bitterness that espresso can tend to have at other places. The coffee cake was able to be warmed and was comforting on a chilly day like today. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I went outside to sit in the little patio and immediately thought it was so cute.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] There is art everywhere; n the mosaic tiles, sold on shelves, just everywhere.

You would think this was something other than a cafe while driving on Alhambra Ave. Tucked away next to an abandoned restaurant and industrial buildings, this place provides a small menu and special drinks. The cashier recommended their breakfast sandwich, which name I can't remember. I also ordered an iced Cafe de Olla with a horchata flavor. There's also a section where they display and sell local vendor's work. You will find handmade items such as earrings, paintings, mugs, and many others. There's outdoor sidewalk seating and a patio available. The back patio is very relaxing, and there are a lot of tables where you can sit, relax, and enjoy food and drinks. There's only street parking, which is a hassle.

Holy , this place was delicious. To start off i loved my coffee and service was amazing. The cafe de olla wasn't as strong for me, but my vanilla latte was great. The coffee cake was so good i had to get another. And the cheese danish was the perfect ratio all around. I will definitely be returning ! [[HIGHLIGHT]]and the outside patio was perfect to hangout or even bring your laptop to study[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] *also they receive some of their pastries from homeboy bakery, i love how this place has utilized the most of their business by helping the community

Is the side patio always open? (not the tables in front of the shop)? Also, what time does the patio open?

Yes, the patio is open, weekdays 7am-8pm for the summer. Weekends 8am-3pm. Our summer may end st the end of September

Do you guys have/ sell gift cards?

    Are you guys open now?

they recently opened and have new food options...also their patio is finally open.

Is the outside seating area still under construction?

I was there a week ago and it was.

    Is this place pet friendly?

Not really - if you're stopping by for a quick visit there are a couple tables near the entrance but if you'd like to spend time in the courtyard you'll have to leave the pets at home because there are permanent Holy Grounds residents: a cat, birds,…

For those of you unfamiliar, a Dosirak is a traditional Korean packaged meal with rice, banchan, protein, and an egg, similar to a bento box with different compartments for various foods. We ordered the Angus Beef Galbi (Short Rib) Dosirak ($29.99), which included nine pieces of short ribs, white rice, salad, japchae, four sides, and one mandu. Our Dosirak included mac salad, kimchi, house salad, and japchae. While it's on the pricier side considering the portion size, the food is high-quality and delicious. I hesitated a bit at the price since my son chose it for his lunch, and it's a lot of money for a child's meal. I knew he wouldn't finish it or want everything, especially the spicy items. We all loved the galbi and would order it again, price aside. The Dosirak was packaged perfectly, and each compartment was delicious, complementing the galbi perfectly. We really enjoyed the food at Manduyo and would definitely return!

However, i loved the soy sauce that they used! They said it was house made, I'm not totally sure what that means, but it was sweet and tangy and delicious. For me, the dumpling bowl was more of a large snack than a meal. I did go back in to try out another one of the food stalls. The price does seem to follow the portion size, around half the cost of a full meal. I would definitely get it again if I wasn't super hungry or wanted to try out a few places inside of the market.

We had the seafood pasta which was very tasty. The sauce has plenty of flavor and kick, and there is a lot of fresh seafood provided, including mussels and shrimp. Also had the lamb chops, which is one of their most popular dishes, and I can see why. The lamb was cooked perfectly, soft juicy, super easy to eat. I loved that there was chimichurri sauce provided on the side and it went well with everything, including the mashed potatoes and vegetables. This is definitely worth a revisit for any future special occasions!

Seeing the server and an Asian staff coming out from kitchen confirmed that the cooking wasn't fully American taste bud. But that is the reason why it hit me very well. Honestly, whether you have American or fusion or Asian taste bud, the taste quality is better than some average American restaurants. I tried the butter squash soup, lamp chop, and bow tie pasta with chicken. I was enjoying my soup and lamp chop a lot. The pasta was pleasant to me, but it wasn't exceptionally great compared to the lamp chop. My fiancé loved the pasta though, saying that the sauce wasn't overwhelming. It is not a cheap place to come for, but it is because the food and drinks (good white wine) have quality. The wait for the entrees was a little long, even though it wasn't that busy. I believe it was the chef spending time to make sure each dish was done well, unlike the busy restaurant where chefs only follow the restaurant's recipes to make it quick and easy. Lastly, the ambience was okay, but it was more an older fine dining/family owned style. It had some nostalgic vibe if you'd take it that way. Keep it up. I really hope it will be there forever long.
