I was in need of a pick me up and HGC&T was nearby. Very interesting interior with local artist items. The iced horchata latte was nice and light. Good flavors and thick. The guy taking orders and making the coffee was nice. Street parking

Took my lady here she never been here before and wanted coffee with awesome ambience which the water fountain set the tone with numerous small glass mirrors. The coffee was excellent too.

I've been here a few times and every time the coffee is great, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and the pastries and good. If I'm ever in the area I make sure to stop by here and get my coffee.

This location has the best cafe de olla. It's a must try. Excellent customer service, especially by Nick. Stop by and visit. It's a true gem.

Great hidden coffee & tea cafe with homeboy bakery goods and sandwiches located in el sereno industrial area. Super friendly service and the best cafe ole' around. Cool little patio with fountain. Plenty of street parking in front. Free WiFi.

A unique cute place which requires street parking. Staff are friendly and easy to make conversation. The menu is simple which is great if you suffer from choice-paralysis. They do have a secret menu for drinks if any of those call out to you. The seating area is wonderful under nice SoCal weather. Lots of tables and good atmosphere for studying or chatting with friends while the fountain runs in the background. Food and drink arrived at a good pace. The grilled cheesus sandwich is delicious! It's hard to find places with grilled cheese as a main dish on their menu that isn't a sad version of a burger or on a kid's menu. This one was worth it. They even offer a side to accompany it. I got the pickles option. I ordered the horchatta latte from the secret menu and it was good! Only a tiny bit on the sweet side, but I normally order 50-75% sweet on drinks. So personal taste may vary.

If you live or work near El Sereno, then more than likely you've heard of Holy Grounds. It's a little breath of fresh air amongst the row of businesses and storage facilities that surround it along what feels like a never ending street, Valley Blvd. Some might even describe it as a little hidden oasis - with a secret garden-like patio - in this (dare I say) urban jungle. My go-to favorites are the hot cafe de olla without creamer and breakfast sandwich. Honestly, you can't beat these prices (the breakfast sandwich is only $5.50!). But don't try to call in advance to order for pick-up. It's a busy place and with food made to orders, so it requires a little patience. It's well worth it though! In the meantime, you can browse the curated selection of hand-made gifts made by local artists and artisans. Of course, they have their own Holy Grounds coffee and branded merch, too. If you have the time, I would encourage you to enjoy the patio - now that it's re-open! The smoothing fountain serves as your soundtrack as you sip on your yummy coffee, admire the arrangement of plants and bohemian decor, and don't forget to check out their built-in, multi-media altar near the patio exit door before you leave. It holds true to its name, as they have made it feel like a sacred space. For my laptop users, please note they do not have available outdoor outlets, but I have still worked from there. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly, do NOT park in the liquor store next door as they are known to tow cars. Usually, you will find ample street parking in front or across the street.

This coffee shop was recommended to me by a coworker and wow am I grateful. I was welcomed with friendly faces and an overall calm from the entrance before I ordered an horchata latte with oat milk and a coffee cake. The latte was just the right amount of sweetness and didn't have any bitterness that espresso can tend to have at other places. The coffee cake was able to be warmed and was comforting on a chilly day like today. I went outside to sit in the little patio and immediately thought it was so cute. There is art everywhere; n the mosaic tiles, sold on shelves, just everywhere.

The grilled cheese has tomatoes, but otherwise was delicious! It had a lot of nice, Smokey flavor and was definitely filling enough as a meal on its own. The coffee was very good as well, and they do have a secret menu. Check out the pictures some other yelpers posted. The big draw of this place, in my opinion, is the setting. They've put a lot of effort into making the outdoor area feel like an oasis with the fountain and cacti. There's a lot to look at, especially on the reliquary.

You would think this was something other than a cafe while driving on Alhambra Ave. Tucked away next to an abandoned restaurant and industrial buildings, this place provides a small menu and special drinks. The cashier recommended their breakfast sandwich, which name I can't remember. I also ordered an iced Cafe de Olla with a horchata flavor. There's also a section where they display and sell local vendor's work. You will find handmade items such as earrings, paintings, mugs, and many others. There's outdoor sidewalk seating and a patio available. The back patio is very relaxing, and there are a lot of tables where you can sit, relax, and enjoy food and drinks. There's only street parking, which is a hassle.

Holy , this place was delicious. To start off i loved my coffee and service was amazing. The cafe de olla wasn't as strong for me, but my vanilla latte was great. The coffee cake was so good i had to get another. And the cheese danish was the perfect ratio all around. I will definitely be returning ! and the outside patio was perfect to hangout or even bring your laptop to study *also they receive some of their pastries from homeboy bakery, i love how this place has utilized the most of their business by helping the community

Gas, the sandwhich was super fire and well made. Balanced set of ingredients. Coffee was strong and well pulled. Matcha was ceremonial and cared for upon preparation, we love that. Most likely will be back, often.

Service is efficient and our drinks came out decently quickly. This was around lunch time on a Sunday. As with almost every new drink or coffee place, minimalist aesthetic and a place for people to study and catch up I suppose. Wouldn't say it's the most unique. We got the: 1) Hojicha Latte: -We got this iced and you have the option to sweeten it with simple syrup or something else. We got this with a black sesame flavor and just the standard milk that it came with. -Not too sweet, but the taste of the sesame or even the hojicha can be a bit stronger as we've had similar drinks to this that were more appealing. 2) Iced Chocolate Milk: -I mean you can't really mess this up to be honest. It's mixed well and doesn't taste scathingly sweet like a bottled chocolate milk. My boyfriend got a no sugar coffee here and it still tasted pretty sweet (like unadjusted Starbucks sweet) and it was just tossed into my chocolate milk because he couldn't stomach it. Overall, it's just okay. I'm not really a coffee person, so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

The biggest surprise was the Kimchi Croissant, which has honestly become my favorite pastry in the SGV. The croissant was flaky and buttery, with bacon, a soft jammy egg yolk, and just enough kimchi to add a little spice and acidity without overpowering everything else. It's a combination I wasn't sure would work, but it really does. I also had one of their signature cream puffs, and it's easy to see why they're known for them. They offer some interesting flavors like Biscoff Crunch, Taro Salted Egg Yolk, and black sesame hojicha which are a nice change from the usual vanilla and chocolate options. For drinks, I tried the Pistachio Cloud Top Matcha and the Black Sesame Cloud Top. Both were well balanced and not overly sweet. The pistachio matcha was my favorite of the two. The staff were friendly and patient, even though there was a steady flow of customers and plenty of people taking their time deciding what to order. One thing to keep in mind is that they do sell out of popular items fairly early, so if you have something specific in mind, it's worth going earlier in the day. Overall, Browned is a solid bakery with creative pastries, good drinks, and friendly service. It's easy to see why it's become such a popular spot in San Gabriel.
